Yuan Si's return instantly breathed life into the home, which had been quiet for half a year.
The old woman's passion for cooking was rekindled. She bustled into the kitchen, vowing to prepare a feast fit for an emperor for her daughter.
When Xiao Furen and Xiao Hu got home, they saw the woman standing there and both rushed over—one lovingly, the other wildly.
"Auntie, Auntie! You're finally back! I missed you so much!" Xiao Hu was genuinely happy to see his aunt. He threw his arms around her waist and refused to let go.
Yuan Si gave him a mock-disgusted shove. Seeing how tightly he was clinging, she let it be and looked up at Xiao Furen. "What's with him? Has he lost his mind?"
Xiao Hu hadn't been this clingy when she left. This sudden waist-grabbing immediately put Yuan Si on high alert. 'Something's fishy when he's acting this weird. I wonder what trouble he's brewing.'
