Chapter 38 - Chapter 37: A Major Shock

Through the cultivation of "Nen," Yuu's overall physical capabilities—including his Six Eyes—had been significantly enhanced. As he had anticipated, the sensory range of his Six Eyes had also improved.

Initially, he could perceive a spherical field of vision with a radius of about one hundred meters. Now, that range had expanded to over one hundred and forty meters.

If he further enhanced his eyes with "Gyo," he could push that limit even further, achieving a detection radius of at least four hundred meters.

Of course, searching such a massive area came at a cost: a decrease in detection precision and an exceptionally high consumption of mental energy.

...

At this moment, inside his room.

Yuu concentrated his aura into his eyes, maintaining the state of "Gyo." Sitting in a chair with his head propped on his hand, he silently monitored every movement in the vicinity.

He scrutinized everything carefully...

Paying particular attention to anyone cloaked in a massive amount of aura, harboring intense malice, or behaving suspiciously.

After confirming that no one within his field of vision met all those criteria, he dispersed the aura from his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he looked visibly fatigued.

Feeling the heat in his eyes, Yuu thought to himself:

"Although 'Nen' can enhance the strength of my Six Eyes, the expanded range and massive influx of information require me to invest much more mental energy into filtering it."

"And if I invest too much energy, I even have to deactivate the 'Limitless Technique' to keep my brain from crashing."

Pros and cons.

Yuu rubbed the space between his eyebrows and muttered under his breath, "Am I being too sensitive...?"

Just because of some malice from an unknown source, he had scanned almost every person and object within the entire Heavens Arena, using his room as the epicenter.

Thinking about it, Yuu felt he might just be bored.

However, even though his detailed scan hadn't pinpointed the source of the malice, he had detected quite a few powerful auras within the tower.

Most of them were located in the rooms on the upper floors of the arena.

"Judging solely by the amount of aura they're displaying... those people are on par with Hisoka. They're most likely the legendary Floor Masters."

Yuu made a silent assessment.

In Yuu's eyes, these Floor Masters chasing fame, money, or status were far less dangerous than the powerful individuals who preferred to hide in the vast sea of people.

Take the Shadow Beasts from the original story, for example. As the special bodyguards of the Ten Dons—the leaders of the global mafia—they were obviously some of the strongest Nen users on the market.

But in actual combat, the Shadow Beasts were tiers below the Phantom Troupe, who lurked in the darkness.

This wasn't because the Ten Dons couldn't contact stronger Nen users. It was just that Nen users who could be bought with money and fame... usually capped out at the level of the Shadow Beasts.

Except for the one at the very top of the tower, Yuu believed the overall strength of the other Floor Masters was likely comparable to the Shadow Beasts.

None were worth mentioning.

However, Yuu did notice one guy with a gloomy aura.

Although the person didn't harbor much deep-seated malice, nor were they acting particularly suspiciously...

When Yuu noticed that the target of their secret surveillance was Killua, he felt it necessary to investigate.

...

A few moments later.

Yuu arrived at the arena where Killua was competing. Looking up, he saw the white-haired boy struggling in a tough fight. Yuu couldn't help but feel a bit of gratification, muttering to himself:

"Could it be that after our fight, his spirit has improved? To be struggling like this without surrendering early... that's really—"

"I forfeit!"

Before Yuu could finish his sentence, he saw Killua hop cleanly off the ring. Black lines practically appeared on Yuu's forehead.

He swallowed his praise.

Killua ignored Yuu standing at the exit and kept walking. Only as he passed by did he casually ask:

"Are you here to laugh at me?"

"Yes, but not entirely," Yuu replied.

Killua stopped and looked back at Yuu with an unhappy expression.

"What does that mean?"

Yuu didn't answer immediately. Instead, he turned sideways to look at the audience seats behind him, recalling the figure he had sensed earlier.

" didn't you feel like someone with an unusual aura was watching you during the match?"

"There are guys like that at every match. What's so weird about it?"

"No, this is different." Yuu shook his head and turned back to look at Killua.

"It might hurt to hear this, but in my opinion, that guy is at least ten times stronger than you. Someone like that usually doesn't get so bored that they stare at someone so much weaker than themselves."

After thinking for a moment, Yuu added, "Of course, I'm not saying you're weak. I'm saying the opponent's strength is far above yours... enough for you to take it seriously."

"..."

Hearing this, Killua's face grew even uglier, but he quickly regained his rationality and began to digest Yuu's words.

Just as Yuu said, being targeted by such a powerhouse was never a good sign.

Most likely an enemy.

And the fact that they hadn't made a move yet suggested they were waiting for the right moment.

It was hard to imagine any other possibility.

However, the clever Killua quickly snapped out of it. He looked at Yuu with disdain and said:

"Speaking of which... why should I trust you? You were the first one to approach me with unknown motives."

"Didn't I say it early on...? Because I know you," Yuu smiled.

Killua scanned Yuu's disguise and said sharply, "You know me... yet you still wear a wig to hide your identity?"

"No matter how I look at it, you don't seem like a good guy."

Killua recalled the results of the investigation he had asked Milluki for earlier. No date of birth, no place of birth... absolutely zero records. Even Milluki had no leads.

This made Killua suspect that even the guy's name was fake.

So, faced with a guy whose name, appearance, and background all seemed fake, Killua found it hard to trust him.

However, after witnessing Yuu's unique ability, Killua was also certain that, for now, this guy had no ill intentions toward him.

Even if he did later, Killua didn't think he'd have any ability to resist anyway, so he gradually made peace with it.

"I'm disguising my identity, naturally not because of you... but seeing how curious you are, I suppose I can show you my real face."

Yuu spoke calmly as he walked out of the venue with Killua.

" really?"

Curiosity piqued, Killua asked for confirmation.

"Of course. But not here... we need to find a place with no people."

...

A few moments later.

Killua followed Yuu back to his room.

The damage from before was still there, though the rubble and dust had been swept away.

Yuu didn't beat around the bush. After confirming the door was shut, he took off his hat and wig.

Revealing his head of snowy white hair.

"This is what I really look like."

Still wearing his sunglasses, Yuu smiled faintly, waiting for a reaction.

...

At that moment, looking at Yuu's hair color, Killua inexplicably recalled something his father had once mentioned...

The Zoldyck family carried a gene for white hair. Only children who inherited the purest bloodline would manifest white hair, which also signified that their potential was the most outstanding in the family.

Therefore, as the only child in this generation born with white hair, Killua naturally took it as a symbol of his talent. He took pride in it and strove to be like his white-haired father and grandfather.

Now, seeing the guy in front of him also had white hair...

And connecting it with his attitude...

And his words...

After a long silence, Killua asked, as if possessed by a ghost:

"Are you... Dad's illegitimate son?!"
