Chapter 5 - Chapter 3; “Got any Lemonade?”

(Written while listening to: "The Duck Song" by Bryant Odent on YouTube)

----------------------------

'I guess these other kids at the kindergarten aren't really that impressed by my "awesome" quirk.'

'I mean most of them still can't tie their shoelaces themselves yet, but for now they are using strapped shoes. So they don't really see any advantage to having a quirk like that.'

'Saving 10 seconds on average each day at most, for automating a simple task.'

'It's really not an explosive, or flashy, or impressive quirk, so everybody quickly lost interest.'

'So back to sitting alone in the corner for me I guess.'

'I'm not simply sitting though, I have a basic vocabulary and grammar textbook (child version) with me, that I've smartly smuggled. There's no time to waste, better to improve myself than do that…-whatever it is.' He thought to himself as he glanced at other kids trying to play "make believe" using toys, dolls and stuff. 'It's so embarrassing that I have to "catch-up" to THEM.'

Yet, that day except him showing himself with a newly manifested quirk, a second event took place.

"Hey, kids! Look here! Here's &^%%& %^& friend! Say hello!"

Apparently there was a "transfer student"...- not a student though, just a toddler.

But one, who's identity Laito recognized almost immediately!

Balls!

Purple balls on his head!

Head that's extremely low as his frame was extremely tiny, alongside that kinda stupid face.

Main cast member! Probably one of if not THE most disliked by fandom character.

Minoru Mineta, future supposed hero "Grape Juice"!

The future "Great pervert" and the show's "gag character".

Now just a toddler, looking slightly stressed, meeting for the first time his new "playmates" to be.

'It always makes me feel slightly pressured whenever I see someone from the story now in real life. Like the heroes in tv.'

'But this is the first time I am actually seeing someone in person!'

'Daamn and this is Mineta of all people! I am not really sure if I should approach him at all, with his future perverted nature if I were somehow associated with him, my reputation could be thoroughly ruined!'

'Huh?'

He thought as Mineta introduced himself somehow nervously and apparently other kids weren't too impressed with his quirk.

'I guess it's really not that flashy: no explosions, flying or some other oomf. But it has impressive utility value.'

'[Pop off]'

Quirk that allows him to grow purple, extremely sticky balls from his scalp that he can use in various ways as he himself can't stick to them, just bouncing off from them. In the story it came in clutch during a few dangerous moments.

'It's kinda understandable that these kids don't really care, they are not that smart. And it seems Mineta only can only use very few balls for now, the amount will probably increase as he ages and trains.'

So Mineta, after being rejected, just found himself a place to sit and took some toy to play with.

Alone.

'Damn…- that's kinda sad.' Laito thought glancing in his direction.

"" 'Okaaay.' He let out a long sigh and then made a decision.

He stood up from his practice books and waddled up towards a sitting 4 year old, that had sticky balls on his head.

"Eh, what &% you &%^&?" Mineta asked, surprised that someone still wanted something from him.

"Got… any lemonade?" Laito asked.

"Huh? no…– I don't $%^* any. Sorry…-" The boy answered truthfully."

"Okay!" Laito answered and turned back to his corner."

"What?" Mineta wondered incredulously.

Although he had a bad reputation he wasn't necessarily stupid. He managed to get into the best high school in the entire country(if not the world).

A Hero course on top of that, which accepted only 1 in 300 applicants.

U.A. High school.

"Move beyond, PLUS ULTRA" is its motto.

The titular "My hero academia" which serves as a center of most of the show's action.

It's important to remember that these people were elites of the elites, chosen from countless candidates. Though it's easy to forget that while watching their everyday life from the perspective of an anime watcher…- or fanfic reader.

So, even Mineta was quite weirded by Laito's kind of weird action.

[Next day]

The kids again took to various actions during their "free time" and as before Laito and Mineta found themselves in their respective lone corners.

And as the day before Laito suddenly stood up and approached Mineta who's been minding his own business for the most part.

"Got any lemonade?"

And Mineta responded patiently.

"^%%$^? sorry I don't have any lemonade."

"It's fine!"

And with that Laito has returned to his learning materials.

"???" Mineta wondered.

[Next day]

"Got any lemonade?"

"Ooi. I said ^%^&$ I don't ^$%*$ lemonade! What is &%%^$* #?" Mineta pointed out slowly getting agitated by daily repeated question.

"O-o-okay!"

Then Laito walked away.

[Next day]

"Got any lemonade?"

Now Mineta just deadpanned and stared back at Laito with a tired look.

"Mhm~, Adios!"

And he went back.

"Damn it!" Mineta got annoyed. And for the rest of the day he glanced at Laito here and there.

Menacingly.

[Next day]

Today also, Laito waddled on his stumpy legs, towards Mineta, with his hands behind his back.

"Got a…-"

"HERE!"

Mineta showed his hand which was holding a lemonade, that his mother bought him after listening to his complaints about that "weird kid".

"Just take this and &*%*( 8%(%&* me!"

Laito took a bottle, used one hand to open the received bottle of lemonade and took a solid gulp.

" Oh, thanks!"

"But there's one more question for you!"

At that Mineta tensed, his eyes telling "I'm pissed off".

" You know what sounds good? It would make my day!" Laito started.

"Do you think we could… Do you think we COULD...?

"...Become friends?"

And in that moment he showed what he was hiding behind his back.

It was a bag of freshly bought purple colored grapes. Looking ripe, sweet and juicy.

" Hahahahah! This iss soo stupid!, what is $&(#@ *(^& you?!, ."

All annoyance and tension left Mineta's body as he turned to laughter at the situation.

"All of this ^&%&* ^% ask that ."

" Okay we can be friends, just &^*& ^& so annoying! Ok?"

Laito grinned at that.

"Don't worry I'am NOT doing that again." he said, blushing slightly with an embarrassment.

And so they became "friends"...- as far as kindergarten children can be friends.

They played some games together, Mineta helped Laito a bit with his Japanese and Laito…- Laito did his best.

They kept mostly together, which made the kindergarten teachers a breather, easing their worries about both loners.

Laito also learned that Minoru's household had to move to Musutafu, because their previous home got destroyed by a villain, while Mineta was inside, on top of that.

Apparently he was rescued by some spandex wearing, tight sexy R-rated(Actual rank) heroine, which could potentially leave a heavy imprint on his mind that caused him to be "passionate" about female form…- or so it seemed.
