Chapter 15 - Chapter 13; "Vibing like it's Medieval"

[3 months later]

On a training field one could see a small figure, comically clad in thick padded covering.

He was desperately trying to hit his "opponent" with a prop weapon, while NOT being hit back…- and he failed miserably.

"" He was hit.

"C'mon! Footwork! Footwork! How many times do I have to remind you!?! You are just swinging like it's some crude club, like a damned monkey!" A knight currently overseeing the training of a certain reicarnator was scolding his current "protegee".

"The fuck was that supposed to mean!?!" A gruff-looking, big-big man who was training at the side shouted at the boy's "trainer"...- as this guy's weapon of choice was indeed a huge wooden club.

"Oh yea…- sorry 'bout that Hunk! It's just the boy still doesn't get the finesse it takes to wield a sabre at all! He responded to the big man, while not even having to focus at all on the boy's "attempts", easily evading each strike not even looking at his general direction.

""

"Again! That's what you get for being greedy! Choosing your weapon type for the "Cool factor" at least you were lucky and the sabre you have chosen actually has some good enchantments."

"The hell are you doing!? You were supposed to try to hit me, not an empty space! Why would you even do that?" The knight mocked Laito, as he was seamlessly dancing circles around the poor boy who wasn't fast enough to keep up with the experienced soldier.

""

"Dead again! But at least you are starting to get your reactions slightly faster."

[20 minutes later]

"Well…- you have some stamina…- that's at least something."

"But not enough!"

"Allrighty that's it for now. Dismissed!" A flamboyant looking Ascendant Marigold has ended the lesson.

He was obviously an Incandescent Knight, as a part of the Order and the best fencer within it. He was assigned as Laito's combat trainer, based on boy's weapon of choice.

[Retrospection]

"Doesn't really matter which one you choose, with us, learning using one type is like learning all of them anyways."

Laito has heard from the quartermaster during his "weapon choosing", though he was somewhat sceptical about the claim.

He looked through the weapon list provided to him. The list contained the full recount of weapons and their enchantments that were available in the armory at the time.

Instinctively he looked first at the part labeling the long swords, as he acknowledged them to overall look "coolest" among medieval weaponry.

But apparently, he wasn't the only one thinking that, as all stright-blade sword related weaponry was out-of-stock.

Long-swords, Short-swords, Bastard swords, Gladiuses, Claymores, Greatswords, daggers, even estocs and so on…- all gone.

So he searched through what was left. And there was many interesting weapons with various enchantments.

Axes, blunt weapons, polearms, bows...- and a bit more "exotic" things.

But now, he thought how to best capitalize on his Attributes.

He looked for something relatively simple, that would allow him to drown his enemy in an incessant flurry of blows, taking advantage of his superior stamina regen, while searching and striking at critical/weakened/vital points, that he could potentially locate with his enhanced vision.

He also had to remember that he was particularly weak, all things considered, with a body of a 10 years old. No matter what kind of weapon he chose, he would lack an Oomf that's necessary to deal any significant damage.

No matter how many blows one landed, if you couldn't even scratch or make a dent on enemy armor, all of it would be completely useless.

And exactly when Laito was thinking about that a certain weapon attracted his eye.

A cavalry sabre.

One could think that it would prove completely useless against armored and thick-skinned Nightmare Creatures, as it is in the end: a lightweight, slashing weapon, though still heavier than the infantry version.

But what changed that, was this particular weapon enchantments.

According to it's creator, the best of Incandescents artisans, a chief smith and a castle's quartermaster: Master Fang (who also apparently had an interesting naming sense), it had three of them.

Two passive. One active.

The active one: he couldn't use right now, as he lacked knowledge and ability to manipulate essence.

The passives were very simple, but incredibly useful for Laito.

One increased durability of the weapon, which allowed it to survive longer battles without breaking.

The other maximized the sabre's edge sharpness, which allowed it to cut through even very strong armor.

And of course it's strength all depended on the weapon's Rank and this one was "only" Awakened.

But Laito had a certain problem with it…-

It was not a Memory. Just a forged enchanted artifact.

Which was a problem as Memories hold's massive advantages compared to normal "tools" as they could be carried and even repaired within the user's soul.

But that situation has changed, because the Spell has decided to become suspiciously generous.

"It's beautiful...- and heavier then I thought." He muttered as he grabbed it through a clean piece of cloth in which the sabre was wrapped before.

As soon as Laito unwrapped his "chosen" weapon and touched it with his bare skin…- it disintegrated into bright sparks, at the eyes of everyone present.

[~You have received a Memory~]

The Spell said with a weirdly…- flirty? voice.

'I think, this wasn't supposed to happen.'

He hurriedly summoned the weapon back.

"Oi! Guys! I didn't break it, look, it's right here! All is finee~." He tried to convince the few knights present nearby.

3x "We didn't see anything?" The knights asked each other in perfect sync.

3x "Sure" They shrugged the situation off.

" Drink's on me tomorrow guys. I'm going to need ALOT." Said Ascendant Fang, the chief of "THE GOATS" smithy, as if he was trying to avoid the reality of what they saw.

"YES!" One of the Awakened knights threw his fist into the air.

"Me and ma boys are back in town babe!"
