Chapter 29 - Five Husbands

Sora's POV

"I'm listening," he said seriously, then abruptly sat up and grabbed his head with both hands. "But it's too much. My head actually hurts. I'm trying to process every single thing you just said. It's like I'm a student again."

I burst out laughing. For someone who clearly didn't believe in astrology, the fact that he'd listened all the way through was already impressive.

I sat up too. "How's your wound, by the way? Still hurting?" I leaned in, instinctively wanting to check the wound on his forehead.

He turned at the same time.

Our faces stopped inches apart.

Too close.

My heart slammed against my ribs, loud and traitorous. I froze, afraid that even breathing would somehow turn this into another misunderstanding. His eyes were dark in the low light, unreadable—and far too distracting.
