Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Tanjiro and Nezuko

To this, Tomioka Giyu was slowly stirring his emotions; the main event was about to begin.

"Don't put your life and death in someone else's hands!!"

Seeing Tanjiro's startled expression, with tears still in his eyes, Tomioka Giyu thought, "Did I go too far? Tsk! Never mind."

Immediately after, Tomioka Giyu pointed his blade at Tanjiro and continued to shout, "Don't kneel and beg others just because you're miserable!!"

"If that worked, your family wouldn't have been killed!"

"The weak have no right to choose between plundering or being plundered! Want to cure your sister? Find your enemy?"

"Absurd! Ridiculous!!"

Tanjiro was clearly stunned by Tomioka Giyu's words; he remained kneeling on the ground, neither getting up nor showing any intention to speak.

Tomioka Giyu continued, his emotions fully charged.

"The weak have no right to choose! Even with all their strength, they can only be suppressed by the strong!"

"The method to cure your sister is probably only known by those demons, but!"

"I don't think they will respect your will or your requests."

"Of course, I won't respect your requests either. This is reality!"

"Also, why? Why were you pinned to the ground by your sister just now? Is that how you plan to protect her?!"

"Why didn't you use your axe? Why did you expose your back to me!!"

"You're acting as if you're saying, 'Come! Kill my sister!'"

Tanjiro was panting desperately, his eyes somewhat blank; he was completely at a loss.

Tomioka Giyu wouldn't stay in a stalemate with him, but he didn't stab Nezuko like in the original story; instead, he said calmly, "I'll give you a chance, young man. Take your sister back from my hands. If you succeed, I'll let you go."

"If you fail, she will die!"

After saying this, Tomioka Giyu saw that Tanjiro was still kneeling on the ground, motionless, and felt a bit helpless. "If I don't push this kid, he really won't do it!"

Thinking this, Tomioka Giyu slowly pressed the blade against Nezuko's neck, but his eyes remained fixed on Tanjiro.

"You wouldn't think I'm joking, would you?"

Honestly, he really didn't want to stab Nezuko.

But if Tanjiro kept acting like this, he would have no choice but to use this method to provoke him.

Fortunately, upon seeing the slowly approaching blade, Tanjiro finally woke up, casually picked up stones from the ground, and threw them at Tomioka Giyu, shouting, "Stop it!!"

Seeing that he finally moved, Tomioka Giyu also secretly breathed a sigh of relief. After easily blocking the stones, he looked up and saw Tanjiro, with both hands hidden behind his back, charging at him with all his might!

Tomioka Giyu took a step forward, intending to speed up the process.

Tanjiro's expression changed; he clearly hadn't expected Tomioka Giyu to make such a move, but once the arrow is shot, there's no turning back, so he could only push forward.

But unfortunately, in the next second, a huge force came from behind, slamming him hard onto the snowy ground, and his consciousness gradually blurred at that moment.

Looking at Tanjiro with his eyes closed, Tomioka Giyu murmured, "Alright, you're tired enough. Get some sleep, rest for a while."

Bang----

Immediately after, the vanished axe also struck the tree trunk behind Tomioka Giyu.

"Good heavens, if I hadn't dodged that, wouldn't it have been game over?"

Before Tomioka Giyu could continue to complain, Nezuko, with her long legs, kicked Tomioka Giyu two meters away.

Steadying himself, Tomioka Giyu gripped the hilt of his sword and murmured, "This force, it's simply!"

"Too weak, alright~"

Then, Tomioka Giyu saw Nezuko staring at him fiercely, and she had also shielded Tanjiro, who was lying in the snow, behind her.

"Uh, sorry, sorry, I was forced into this..."

Before Tomioka Giyu could finish speaking, Nezuko had already charged forward.

"Alright, alright, you're just like your brother, go get some good sleep ( ̄ ▽ ̄ )"

As he spoke, Tomioka Giyu stepped back and simultaneously precisely struck Nezuko's neck with a hand chop.

Looking at the two sleeping siblings, Tomioka Giyu dragged one with each hand and found a place sheltered from the snow to put them down.

Then he looked around and murmured, "I wonder when they'll wake up."

"Never mind, I'll make a fire to warm up. The weather is getting colder and colder."

"This feeling of cold Qi filling my lungs really brings back a bad memory~"

[In a magnificent courtyard, "Lord Cult Leader" inexplicably sneezed. He wondered, "Hmm? Do demons get sick too...?"]

After an unknown amount of time, Tanjiro finally woke up. The first thing he did was to check on his sister.

Then, in the next second, he quickly held his sister in his arms, because he saw Tomioka Giyu warming himself by a fire nearby.

Seeing Tanjiro's nervous appearance, Tomioka Giyu chuckled, then waved his hand and said, "Don't worry, if I really wanted to kill your sister, she would have died long ago."

"Your sister is indeed different from other demons. For now, I'll consider you approved."

"Go to the foot of Mount Sagiri and visit an old man named Urokodaki Sakonji who lives there."

"Tell him that Tomioka Giyu sent you. He is my master."

"As long as you can pass his test, you will learn many things afterward."

"You absolutely must embark on this path of slaying demons!"

"Even if we consider the worst-case scenario, to turn your sister back into a human, you must embark on this path."

After speaking, Tomioka Giyu pointed at the sky again, looked at the sleeping Nezuko, and reminded him,

"Demons turn to ash when exposed to sunlight, and your sister is no exception now."

"Also, it's best not to let her go out alone at night, because at night, a demon's hunger reaches its peak."

This time, after speaking, Tomioka Giyu disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Tanjiro remained in the same position as when he woke up, tightly protecting Nezuko, seemingly still a bit disbelieving that Tomioka Giyu had just left.

After a good while, he finally recovered, and at the same time, Nezuko (cute version) also woke up.

On the other side, Tomioka Giyu rushed towards Mount Sagiri with all his might. Before leaving, he wanted to visit Master Urokodaki.

Although Kanzaburo had brought him a new mission, it would be difficult for him to return again for a long time.

So, the mission could wait for now.

And it wouldn't take long; with his speed, arriving at the mission location in time was more than enough.

As luck would have it, when Tomioka Giyu arrived at the wooden cabin, Urokodaki Sakonji had just returned from chopping wood.

"Giyu? Why are you here?"

"I haven't been back in a long time, so I wanted to come and see you."

Saying this, Tomioka Giyu pulled open the wooden door and walked in with Urokodaki Sakonji.

Urokodaki Sakonji was still wearing his tengu mask. After pouring Tomioka Giyu a cup of tea, he slowly spoke,

"Tell me, what is it? As a Hashira, every minute of your time is crucial and shouldn't be wasted on me."
