Opal let go of Max wrist, her expression had changed.
Not anger nor curiosity.
But fear.
Max began contemplating what to do next, as the blue window shows up again reflecting his eyes in the task.
[ Objective: Escape Captivity
Reward: 15 exp [Strength]
Penalty: Death
Time Limit: 15:35 ]
Okay, wait a minute am I hallucinating or something, I'm pretty sure there was no time limit before…
I looked towards the cell's door, open wide for me to escape this place before I get interrogate.
I'll think of that later, now's my chance.
Taking this moment while the two hunters weren't paying attention to him, he ran as fast as he could to escape.
As he escaped the cell he heard the hunters start shouting, getting back up from other hunters.
I can't outrun them, Istill haven't gotten any upgrades!
Max's mentally screams in his mind.
He ran pass to other cell's, they were like animals but their glowing eyes were staring at me, that must be what Beast Spirits looks like.
If only I could look at it more closely, sadly no.
Max's keeps running and running.
Until it's a dead end.
And about now the other hunters are there, as well as Opal and Mark. Opal kept his compusore while Mark was out of breathe.
"Nowhere to run boy" one of the hunters spoke who pointed its spear at me, Max on the other hand was sweating bullets.
I only have little time, I have to get out of here fast.
Max looked around, he was surrounded but theres gotta be something right?
Yeah no absulotely nothing!
Max's found a cell beside, and boy he heard growling sounds from there.
Max looked at his palm, then clenching to his fist, maybe he had enough strength just to at least break the bars or just bend them.
Max held the bars with his hands, he let out a long breathe and began trying to pull in apart. This is harder than I thought but I still didn't stop there.
"Hey, stop what your doing!"
Max didn't stop, no way unless he escape this damn place, there's no way!
The iron bars slowly bend, making a small gap between the bars. The gap was small, but it was more than enough for whatever Beast Spirit was trapped inside.
Whatever is inside that cage gives me the creeps.
Then in the dark cage, glowing eyes peared through the bars, Max can hear it's growls.
Then it jump.
A blur shot through the gap.
"Oof—!"
The creature pounced on Max face.
Something slammed directly into Max's face.
It's sharp claws pressed against my shoulders, though not sharp enough to draw blood but it left a scratch.
Ding!
[Beast Spirit Detected]
[Species: Unknown]
[Class: '???']
What?
Just what is even happening…
Then he opened my eyes.
The creature who pounced on my dissapeared, then I heared a loud shriek I look behind from the source of the sound. Then Max froze from what he saw.
Flames spread slowly through the camp, casting orange light across the cages. The smell of smoke mixed with blood as distant growls echoed in the darkness. For the first time since wrriving in this world, Max truly understand how dangerous this realm was.
Max was cut off in his thoughts by the small growl.
He looked around, the creature wasn't their, and then again this time he felt a pressure on top if his head. Technically the unknown creature was in his head.
He grabbed the creature on top of his head by its paws, he planned to looked at the creature more carefully but no. The situation right now was not in the right moment.
He carefully carried the creature in his arms as he was examined where the exit could be.
Rob, mind anylzing if there could be a nearby exit in here?
Ding!
[Possible exits: Main exit, Side exit]
Then his vision suddenly was change, it looked like night vision but maybe no since it probably has another function to it. The surrounding were black but their outlines were noticable faintly and two rectangular doors were visible probably in different directions.
Bingo!
I started to move through the path where the flames were. But then I was block by one of the hunters, his sword was pointing at me as if to blame for everything and finish in one strike.
"What really are you ha?! It's all your fault why this situation started maybe Opal and Mark from bringing you here!" He said while gritting his teeth.
"I don't know what your talking about" Max replied, about to run from this scary hunter.
"Your not going anywhere kid"
This is bad… I don't have any choice but to fight.
Without warning, the hunter's sword slash down coating with red-like mana. Max's eyes widened and immediately dodge it the upcoming attack. And then more attacks were coming up at him.
Then the blade grazed Max's arm in the process.
"Ahh—!"
The bruning pain shot through his skin as blood slowly dripped from his sleeve. If that attack landed properly, he would've have died instantly.
Then when Max was about to stand up, the blade was pressed against his throat.
Max could feel the cold steel against his skin.
One wrong movement and his head would roll across the ground.
"Any last words?" The hunter's voice sounded distant.
Max clenched his fists.
Was this really it? He had only been in this world for a single day.
As the hunter raised his sword high, Max closed his eyes already resigned to his fate.
…
…
THUD.
But the pain never came.
