Chapter 2 - Annual assessment

Mo Fan rushed towards Mingwen Middle School by bus.

Mingwen Middle School is an all-girls, private middle school, gathering the freshest and most fashionable girls in all of Xia City.

Unlike other middle schools, there is no dull magic theory education here, nor a group of magic bookworms who only know how to take exams. These girls, who inherently have some family magic background, know far more than magic students who come out of nine years of compulsory magic education. For example, some magic power accessories are often hung on their chests.

The reason Xin Xia could come here was simply because her little mind was smart enough. He arrived at a place Xin Xia was sure to pass by and waited quietly.

Sure enough, not long after, a girl in a wheelchair appeared in his line of sight.

The girl in the wheelchair had long, black, waterfall-like hair. The winter wind was messing up her strands, revealing a fair, full, delicate profile: long eyelashes, a graceful little nose, and rosy, moist lips.

When she approached and saw Mo Fan's face, there was no surprise on her face. She just smiled very gently, as if she knew he would come.

"Mo Fan Ge Ge," the girl called out sweetly.

"Xin Xia, have you been doing well lately?" Mo Fan asked.

"I'm doing great, but Mo Fan Ge Ge, you don't always have to come pick me up."

This little girl, she was clearly not surprised by his arrival and was very happy, yet she still said no with her mouth.

Women!

"Because I missed you, I just came over."

Hearing what Mo Fan said, Xin Xia's small face flushed. Perhaps to the young girl at the moment, although there was affection, he was just an older brother, right?

Mo Fan didn't mind. With an emotional foundation, breaking through wouldn't be difficult.

Coming behind Xin Xia, Mo Fan pushed her wheelchair, taking her back to his aunt's house.

"Mo Fan Ge Ge, why did you suddenly want to learn magic again?" Mo Fan had previously grumbled about not wanting to learn magic, but then he wanted to learn again, which left Xin Xia a little puzzled.

He used to think studying was useless, and now he still doesn't think a few years of study can change his destiny. But learning magic is a different concept.

So he understood Mo Fan quite well.

"Because I want to protect you. If I'm just an ordinary person, the distance between me and Xin Xia will only grow wider and wider in the future."

"Mo Fan Ge Ge~"

Xin Xia was a bit shy. It seemed Mo Fan was always overtly teasing her today?

He didn't overdo it. Afterwards, he chatted with Xin Xia about things at school, and the two talked and laughed all the way back to his aunt's place.

After having dinner with them, Mo Fan once again entered meditation and control. His current life seemed to be either cultivating or on the way to cultivating.

Mo Fan was not idle during the entire winter break. After staying at his aunt's house for a few days, Mo Fan returned to the library of Tianlan Magic High School. Xin Xia had already been entrusted to his aunt, so he naturally couldn't stay there indefinitely.

And with his daily routine of cultivating and reading, time flew by quickly. In the blink of an eye, it was another start of the school year.

However, when he came to the classroom today, he found that the Little Loach next to him seemed off. Then, following his gaze, he looked over...

Hmm... he also started to feel a bit off.

"Good morning, students. Your magic practical class teacher, Teacher Lian, is ill and resting at home. Starting today, I will be teaching your magic practical class. My name is Teacher Tang Yue!" A mature voice with a hint of brightness sounded at this moment.

Having grown accustomed to Old Man Lian's hoarse, slow voice, a sudden, charming and sensual melody from a mature woman, like a spring breeze, made Mo Fan feel a moment of 'respect'.

Teacher Teacher Tang Yue arrived.

Speaking of which, this mature and charming teacher was a good protective umbrella in the early stages!

"Given that you've only awakened for half a year and no one can cast magic yet, I hope you understand that mastering powerful forces doesn't mean you can use them well. Not controlling your power properly can even lead to self-destruction..." Teacher Teacher Tang Yue's attire today was a bit special, so she quickly entered her lecture state.

However, even with her serious lecturing, the envy of the girls and the unwavering gaze of the boys made it difficult for the students to get into the zone.

It wasn't until they were led to the playground and Teacher Tang Yue demonstrated a second-level Fire Ignition that they truly got into the zone.

If a woman is merely beautiful, she only inspires flights of fancy. But if this woman possesses power that others cannot touch, she will be like a poison, making men unable to extricate themselves!

At this moment, she was not just a teacher, but also became the goddess of the entire class.

Although the classes with the goddess teacher were no longer as boring, Mo Fan's daily life remained as usual.

Unknowingly, the Annual Assessment finally arrived. For many, today was a nightmare, as they might be expelled from the school. This group was actually the most tragic and had the least face to return home to their parents.

But learning magic is not a game. Every magic high school has this system. Those unsuitable for learning magic will be asked to leave as early as possible, allowing them to find other paths, so they don't waste time in the boundless sea of magic.

As for those students who cultivated diligently and worked tirelessly, today was their day to prove themselves, especially those individual academic elites who could already cast skills!

The typhoon season had passed, and the morning weather was clear and refreshing.

Mo Fan naturally wasn't afraid of the Annual Assessment. After all, he had successfully mastered both the Thunder Element and Fire Element Star Paths. Moreover, both the Fire Element and Thunder Element Star Paths had grown considerably. It was just a pity that Little Loach's current bonus was only equivalent to a mortal-grade Star Dust magic artifact; otherwise, Mo Fan might have been able to advance even higher.

Early in the morning, the students gathered on the training ground, waiting for the assessment.

The test, of course, was not about furiously writing on a paper in the classroom. Although magic theory was also tested, it didn't account for a large portion of the score. The most important part was this annual practical assessment. In the magic world, strength is the most important thing. This assessment, to put it plainly, was to examine the cultivation status of all students after their awakening over the past year, and then conduct a major re-division of classes based on that.

Today's training ground was arranged differently. In addition to the semi-circular examiner's table, there was also a suspended Star Sense Stone.

The Star Sense Stone looked a bit like a black, watermelon-sized pebble, and it was currently being held up by a stone pillar at the front of the training ground.

This Star Sense Stone was the most important instrument for the students' assessment.

The Annual Assessment was really simple, just like the awakening ceremony. Students only needed to place their palms on this large Star Sense Stone, and the examiners could immediately determine the student's cultivation achievements over the year by the brightness of the Star Sense Stone.

Just like the college entrance examination, students' fates could very well be determined by this single judgment. In this world, there were also similar hard indicators: either continue studying to gain better opportunities, or pack up and find another path.

And after the crowd had gathered, Mu He, the school board director, began to give his speech.

To be honest, with his humble demeanor, it was hard to believe that he was actually a Grand Deacon within the Holy See!

However, in the original world, Mo Fan and Mu Ningxue had the chance to get together, and Mu He was also a contributing factor.
