Chapter 9 - Advanced demon wolf

Although the battle was intense and exciting, it actually helped with his night cultivation and the growth of his Stardust.

Indeed, relentless arduous cultivation alone was not the best way to improve.

The next day, after his magic energy had fully recovered, Mo Fan once again ventured into the wilderness.

With the slight "experience" from the previous day, the psychological pressure of re-entering the wilderness today was significantly reduced.

However, because he only circled the periphery, he didn't encounter a single demon today.

But for the sake of his own life, he naturally would never go deep.

In the following days, Mo Fan occasionally encountered Giant Eye Scarlet Mice. And sometimes, just like the first day, he gained nothing.

The holiday quickly ended. After returning to the academy, looking at his classmates who were still practicing on wooden stakes, he felt a bit like an adult watching children.

Of course, although he thought so inwardly, he naturally couldn't show it.

Moreover, Mo Fan suddenly remembered something: the One-Eyed Magic Wolf that had stolen the Earth Holy Spring.

That was a creature capable of dropping a spirit essence!

However, he recalled that in the original world, it was mentioned to be an advanced One-Eyed Magic Wolf.

Mo Fan didn't think he could handle an advanced One-Eyed Magic Wolf by himself.

"Hey, Fan Ge, have you noticed that ever since the training, our class monitor, Zhou Min, has been secretly paying attention to you?" Zhang Xiaohou suddenly leaned over and asked while Mo Fan was thinking about how to get the spirit essence.

"Hmm, I noticed," Mo Fan nodded.

"Does she like you?" Zhang Xiaohou became interested, saying with a smile.

Mo Fan wasn't narcissistic, because he knew that Zhou Min was acting this way because she wanted his help. In this world, there was never good without reason.

"I think it's because of my excellent performance during the training; she probably needs some help," Mo Fan said.

While the two were talking, Zhou Min had already walked over. Her timid, hesitant, and somewhat pitiful demeanor was quite endearing.

Zhou Min was quite pretty, with neat, shoulder-length black hair and a delicate face that carried the pride many young girls possessed. Normally, she was fierce and kept her distance from boys, but in fact, her warm heart could never be hidden.

After she came over, Zhang Xiaohou walked away without hesitation.

Although Mo Fan said the other party came to ask for his help, in Zhang Xiaohou's view, her appearance was clearly that of a young girl's budding affection.

"Mo Fan, are you free tonight?" Zhou Min looked at the departing Zhang Xiaohou, then turned to Mo Fan and asked.

"Do you need something?" Mo Fan asked in return.

"It's like this: my grandmother lives on Banyan Tree Street, which is an old district being redeveloped into a new community. During the summer vacation, I stayed with my grandmother and frequently heard tremors from the nearby construction site, as if there were construction teams working, but I asked around, and they all said they don't work at night… Grandma always says there's something in that large area of old district that's almost a ruin. I asked Grandma to move, but she doesn't want to leave, so I hope you can come with me to see what's going on. Otherwise, leaving my grandmother there alone, I'm always worried, and it's quite scary at night," Zhou Min explained.

"I think, if there are no surprises, there should be some demon there," Mo Fan replied.

"Ah? Demon!?"

Zhou Min was stunned. There would be demons in the city!?

The fear Zhou Min experienced from facing a demon last time still lingered.

Moreover, this was the city, not outside the safe zone. How could there be demons?

Looking at Zhou Min's incredulous expression, Mo Fan nodded and said, "You heard right, it's very likely a demon. And, to cause the kind of commotion you described, I think it's very likely a One-Eyed Magic Wolf. You don't need to worry about this for now; I'll help you contact the City Hunter Squad."

"Ah, what if it hasn't been verified and the City Hunter Squad comes for nothing? Wouldn't that be bad?" Zhou Min said with some concern.

"Their duty is to handle the city, never mind, I'll contact them. Tonight, you take your grandmother and leave that place for one night. I'll tell you once the problem is resolved," Mo Fan said.

He didn't plan on bringing Zhou Min along.

This girl was quite brave, but if she were to face an advanced One-Eyed Magic Wolf, she wouldn't be of much help;

Moreover, he figured even the City Hunter Squad would need his help. So, he couldn't expose himself then.

"This…"

"You don't trust me?"

Seeing Mo Fan say this, Zhou Min couldn't say anything more and could only agree, "Alright."

As night fell, Mo Fan arrived at the Old Banyan Tree Street district. Just as Zhou Min said, this area had been demolished beyond recognition, looking as if it had just experienced a severe earthquake disaster.

Dust permeated this heavily demolished district, with temporary construction fences everywhere, potholes everywhere, half-demolished houses left as unsightly wreckage, and unfinished buildings that had just been erected.

He heard that the Old Banyan Tree Street district was planned to be transformed into a new commercial area, but the investor experienced severe fund shortages, leaving behind a mess in Bo City that even the municipality didn't know how to handle.

Most people had already moved out of this district. Some homeless people would temporarily stay in dangerous buildings, and the rest were some elderly people who were unwilling to move, including Zhou Min's grandmother.

After Mo Fan entered, he immediately took out the monster-seeking powder he had bought earlier.

The powder was sprinkled about ten meters around him, and these sparkling powders seemed to adhere, forming an outline on the dusty ground, an outline that looked like a footprint.

Then he went inside. When he called the City Hunter Squad earlier, he clearly told them that a Magic Wolf had appeared here. Presumably, they would arrive soon. What he needed to do now was to find it.

After all, if he couldn't find it, he would be in trouble. That would be equivalent to falsely reporting military intelligence.

As he entered, he quickly saw a black shadow wriggling in what was originally the first floor!

It was a creature with strong lower limbs. Standing there, its head almost touched the second-floor ceiling.

Its overall shape was somewhat similar to a Dire Wolf Beast, but unlike it, it wasn't quadrupedal; it was semi-upright like a werewolf!

The biggest difference was this guy's eyes.

On its giant wolf-like head, there was only a single eye, which looked particularly chilling in the night!

And this was indeed the One-Eyed Magic Wolf!

The One-Eyed Magic Wolf was a ferocious demon that teachers had mentioned countless times in demonology class. Unlike creatures like the Giant Eye Scarlet Mouse that lived in dark corners, One-Eyed Magic Wolves mostly lived in desolate mountains and wilderness. They had an inherent hostility towards humans and even loved to use humans as food!

They enjoyed slaughter, were greedy and ferocious, and they eyed every human who dared to leave human settlements with covetousness!

This was Mo Fan's first time seeing such a creature, and his heart was full of expletives!

The oppressive feeling brought by this one completely surpassed the Giant-Eyed Blood Rat and the Dire Wolf Beast he had encountered before.
