In the year XXXX, at a village known as the Arcadia village. At the backyard of the village chief's mansion.
A teenage boy with white hair and light purple eyes blocked a sword swing from an older male with blonde hair and light green eyes.
This was our male protagonist named Kaito Kuroyami,a 16 year old and he was currently in a sparring match with his older brother Ryoji Kuroyami,a 23 year old.
Both were the sons of the chief of Arcadia, Viscount Kenshiro Kuroyami, a 45 year old.
Said Viscount was currently seated on a throne at the balcony, overlooking the sparring match and by his left was his wife viscountess Misora Kuroyami, aged 39.
Their daughter, Saya Kuroyami,aged 17, was leaning on the fence and she was watching the sparring match.
They were also maids, servants and guards around the area, watching the sparring match.
Kaito swung his sword at Ryoji but he easily evaded the swing, then Ryoji took a swing at Kaito and Kaito raised his sword to try and deflect the slash but the force still managed to send him backwards.
Kaito crashed on the ground as his sword landed beside him and as he tried to stand up, Ryoji had already pointed his blade at him.
"I win…again." Ryoji said with a smirk as Kaito gritted his teeth and let out a "tch."
The guards and servants clapped whereas Kenshiro just looked at Kaito with disappointment and he stood up and walked out as his two personal guards accompanied him.
Saya, who witnessed the whole thing, put a hand on her forehead and sighed.
"Mother, why is father always so disappointed in kaito?" Misora could only sigh and look at her husband's retreating figure.
"I don't know my dear. What did you think about the sparring match?" Misora asked while looking at Saya and Saya put a hand on her chin.
"Not much, Kaito is only 16 and he hasn't even taken the entrance exams to become a psykers. Whereas, ryoji is already an A rank psyker." Saya concluded as misora nodded.
"Indeed,I didn't expect much from your younger brother but alas,the match has already been decided." It was sayas' turn to nod.
Whereas below, kaito was already walking away from the platform and that's when ryoji rushed towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"B-brother?" Kaito stammered and he looked down the moment his eyes met ryojis'.
"Don't look so down kiddo, you tried your best." Ryoji consoled him as kaito still remained sad.
"I know, but I'm pretty sure father will be disappointed in me…he always is." Kaito confirmed that Ryoji now felt bad for him but he decided to try and cheer him up.
"As you know, father is a strict man. Since as you know he was a former S ranker, he just wants what's best for you." Ryoji finished.
"I know that but—" Before kaito could complete his sentence,he was cut off by ryoji.
"You know what, how about we make a deal?" Ryoji said as kaito now looked at him with curiosity.
"A deal?"
Ryoji nodded as he continued. "Yes, you're taking the entrance exams tomorrow right?" Ryoji asked as kaito nodded.
"How about this, if you pass the entrance exams. I'll teach you one of my B rank skills." He finished.
Kaito's eyes widened as a smile spread across his face. "Really?!" It was ryojis' time to nod. "Thanks brother"
He smiled at ryoji and ryoji ruffled his hair but their moment was interrupted when a guard rushed to the duo as they looked at him and said guard bowed.
"Young Lord, Lord Kuroyami is in need of your presence." The guard humbly said as kaito was surprised that his father was in need of his presence.
"Father is calling me?" He asked in a questioning tone as the guard replied.
"Yes, young Lord".
Kaito looked at Ryoji as even Ryoji was shocked at this but he still shrugged.
"Go on kaito,I have to meet mum and Saya before I head back to the kingdom." Kaito nodded and replied.
"Okay brother." He gave his brother a hug then walked away with the guard.
The guard began to escort Kaito towards Kenshiros' office. The walk towards the office was quite boring and as the duo went up the stairs and into the hallway.
Kaito couldn't help but look at the portraits of the most powerful psykers the kuroyami family has ever produced. Sadly his little fun time was cut short by the guard coming to a halt.
Kaito looked ahead to see that they were now at the door that led into Kenshiro' s office. The guard knocked on the door as Kenshiro replied.
"Who is it?" He asked in a questioning yet authoritative tone and the guard replied quickly.
"The young Lord is here!" Kenshiro paused for a while before replying.
"Come in."
The guard opened the door as Kaito walked into the room and saw his father sitting on his and his two personal guards standing at each side of the room.
The moment Kenshiro looked up, he looked towards the guard. "You can leave."
The guard bowed and left as kaito stood in front of his father as he also admired his father's office.
At the walls were multiple book shelves and an armour stand,then there was also a two seated sofa and there were 4 lamps at each corner of the room and on the walls were photo frames of the old Viscounts of Arcadia.
Kenshroi cleared his throat as kaito immediately stopped admiring the room and looked at his father.
"You called for me father?" Said kaito as Kenshiro nodded and looked at his two guards.
"Taka,Yuta,leave us." He ordered as the two guards nodded then vanished as Kenshiro simply stared at Kaito with lifeless eyes and kaito felt the room get cold as he shivered under the gaze of his father.
"Kaito." Kenshiro' s voice boomed as sweat trailed down Kaito's forehead and he replied in a shaky tone.
"Y-yes father?"
Kaito replied as he tried to avoid his father's gaze. "You will be taking the entrance exams tomorrow, correct?"
He asked as kaito nodded. "Yes father." Kenshiro hummed as he began to think until he came to a conclusion.
"There's a secret I want to let you in on." He said as kaito tilted his head to the side, confused.
"A secret?" He asked as Kenshiro nodded once more and he continued.
"Yes." He paused.
"Have you ever heard of the word necromancy?" Kenshiro asked as kaito flinched a bit from hearing the
word.
