Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

George spoke after a brief pause, "I'll go check on her upstairs. You start making lunch."

At the mention of cooking for Suzy, Fiona felt a flicker of reluctance. That girl did not deserve her cooking.

But then she thought again—so long as that girl was happy and signed the agreement, the inheritance worth over a billion would all become theirs.

Her mood instantly brightened. She turned and headed into the kitchen.

After waking up, the very first thing Suzy did was contact Uncle Malcolm Brone.

She entrusted him with selling off all the assets her mother, Elisabeth Ashford, had left behind—company shares, properties under her name, everything.

She decided to convert it all into cash.

Malcolm had always been in charge of managing Elisabeth's estate.

When he heard that Suzy wanted to liquidate everything, he was greatly surprised.

After confirming that this decision had nothing to do with George Kale, he didn't press further and immediately began handling the matter.

"Oh right, Uncle Malcolm—there's something about the contract I want to ask you…"

She discussed the details for a while, and after hanging up, Suzy went down to the underground garage to get her car.

She didn't drive straight to the Kale family villa. Instead, she detoured to a nearby antique market.

For one hundred dollars, she bought a similar but fake gold pendant.

Only then did she change direction and head toward the Kale residence.

Along the way, Suzy stopped at a print shop by the road.

She printed out the property transfer contract Malcolm had sent her.

Half an hour later, she pushed open the door to the Kale family home.

George greeted her enthusiastically, almost pulling her straight into the living room.

Immediately, Suzy saw Wendy, her cheeks flushed with healthy color, as well as her younger brother, Tommy, slouched on the sofa playing on his phone.

The Wendy Kale before her had clearly changed on the inside. She could sense it.

There was a sharpness in her brows and eyes that hadn't been there before—an unspoken sense of superiority.

Suzy knew it then.

The transmigrator had already arrived.

As for Tommy, from start to finish, he didn't even lift his head to look at her, lazily sinking into the sofa as if she didn't exist at all.

"Suzy, you're back." Wendy greeted her first, smiling warmly.

Yet her gaze subtly swept over Suzy from head to toe.

So this is the younger sister from the original story—the one with the massive inheritance and the gold pendant, Wendy thought to herself.

She'd heard Suzy had poor health, congenital heart disease… and other illnesses.

Judging by her complexion, that sounded about right.

Suzy's face was the pale shade of someone who rarely saw the sun.

Beneath her thin skin, faint bluish veins showed through under her eyes, lending her an air of fragility.

That sickliness didn't make her look haggard at all—on the contrary, it gave her a uniquely delicate beauty.

Wendy had to admit it.

This so-called cannon fodder was stunning, despite being frail.

Exquisite features, slender brows, and a pair of slightly upturned phoenix eyes tinged with melancholy.

Clear and soulful, as if washed with water.

Her lashes were long, her nose refined and straight, her lips beautifully shaped—though lacking color.

An overwhelming sense of vulnerability washed over her.

By comparison, the body Wendy now occupied fell far short.

At best, her looks could be described as pleasant.

Set against Suzy, the difference was like heaven and earth.

Wendy suppressed the flash of jealousy that flickered through her eyes.

Thankfully, she was sickly.

She probably wouldn't even survive the early-stage disasters and would die soon enough.

How could she possibly compete with someone like her—a transmigrator who knew the future?

"Suzy, did you bring everything with you?"

George looked Suzy up and down. When he didn't see any documents in her hands, his brows knitted together.

Suzy nodded. "Yes. It's all in my bag."

"Then—"

Before George could continue, Suzy raised a hand and gently pressed her temple.

Her brows furrowed slightly, a trace of discomfort appearing on her face at just the right moment.

"Dad… Sis…"

Her voice was weak, laced with carefully measured apology.

"My head feels a bit dizzy. I'd like to go back to my room, take some medicine, and rest for a few minutes before coming back down. Is that okay?"
