"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The heavy pounding on the door made both women inside jump.
Hannah and Olivia exchanged startled glances.
"Who is it?" Hannah called out.
"I don't know," Olivia replied, frowning.
Hannah got up and walked toward the door.
Olivia hesitated, then guessed, "Could it be Richard Stone? You just messaged him, right? Even if he didn't reply… maybe he's trying to surprise you?"
Hannah's eyes lit up instantly. If it really was him... that would be perfect.
Over the past few days, Richard had been flaunting his life relentlessly on social media—posting every meal, lounging in air conditioning, sipping iced drinks as if the world hadn't collapsed.
It was infuriating.
Hannah had been going out of her way to please him lately. He wasn't exactly cold—but he never gave her what she wanted either.
He dangled hope in front of her, then crushed it just as quickly.
It twisted her mood, gnawed at her.
