Chapter 5 - confusion

The moment Keifer Watson's car pulled up to the café, his instincts were already in overdrive. His grandfather had called him with an unusual urgency. Something had happened, something that made the elderly man unusually… animated.

He rushed inside, sharp gaze scanning the room. The barista gave him a polite nod, recognizing him immediately, but he didn't notice anyone. Only his grandfather mattered.

"Grandfather!" he called, striding across the polished floor.

The old man looked up, calmer now, a faint smile on his lips. "Keifer… thank God you're here. I'm fine now. It was… it was nothing serious."

Keifer crouched beside him, hands firmly on his grandfather's shoulders. "Are you sure? Your pulse was racing when I got the call. What happened?"

His grandfather chuckled softly, shaking his head. "A young surgeon helped me. Calm, precise… incredible. I don't even know her name."

Keifer froze for a fraction of a second. A young surgeon…? His mind raced. Young, capable, fearless…? That sounds like her.

"Her name?" he prompted sharply, his tone just on the edge of impatience.

"I didn't ask," the old man admitted, frustration lacing his voice. "I was too distracted… too grateful. But Keifer, find her. Whoever she is, you must meet her. She's extraordinary."

Keifer's jaw tightened. He stood, hands clenched into fists. "You want me to find her?"

"Yes!" his grandfather said, urgency returning. "I've never seen anyone handle a situation like that. You must find her. Please."

Keifer took a deep breath, letting the words settle. He was Watson—youngest CEO, untouchable, commanding, powerful. There was nothing in the city he couldn't locate, no person he couldn't track. And yet…

He already knew this wouldn't be simple.

With every resource at his disposal, he tried—databases, hospitals, professional networks, colleagues—but there was no trace of her. Not a single name, no record, nothing.

"Impossible," he muttered under his breath, pacing the floor. "She doesn't exist in any system. It's as if she… vanished."

His grandfather watched him, concern softening the sharp edges of his usual stern expression. "Keifer… she helped me. She's real. You'll find her."

Keifer stopped, hand brushing his hair back, jaw tight. "I always find what I want," he said quietly, more to himself than anyone else. "And I will find her."

Yet even as he spoke, there was an unusual edge of frustration in his tone—something rare for a man used to absolute control. For the first time, someone had slipped through his fingers, and he wasn't used to it.

"Who is she?" he muttered, pacing again, mind racing with possibilities. "A surgeon… young… precise… calm under pressure… No one this talented should be unknown. Not in my city, not anywhere."

Keifer's mind whirred. His grandfather's words had planted a seed. Whoever she was, she wasn't just another name. She was something different. Something… impossible to ignore.

And Watson didn't like things he couldn't control.
