Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Fall

Akaris looked out the window of the tallest building. The entire city was in ruins, the sky was covered by dark clouds and shrouded under the darkness of night.

Yet even in said darkness he can still see clearly. Heavy rain fell over the entire city drowning the sound of footsteps and roars of the vile creatures.

This rain was the reason he had survived the first four days of the apocalypse. He still remembered what had happened four days ago.

He was lying in his bed after coming back from class tired. He was planning to play his video games later when he heard it.

(System initiating. Greetings player, I'm your assistant system interface for the apocalypse.

If you have any questions please ask.) He stood up from his bed in a jolt. " Is this a joke?"

( I can assure you player, this is not a joke ) He shook his head and started laughing. " I must be really tired to be hallucinating right now, I should just sleep."

He closed his eyes and only a few minutes later he felt the world shake as if there was an earthquake.

He stood and ran to hide under the table which was close to his window. When he looked out the window he stopped.

Monsters, the entire city was overran by monsters. Eldritch horrors who's existence would drive the bravest of men insane.

He stumbled back not believing what he was seeing. " I'm dreaming I'm dreaming I'm dreaming, this is just a dream."

He started slapping himself in the face. " Wake up wake up wake up." He screamed but nothing changed.

He felt pain but the dream persisted. ( I can assure you player, this is not a dream, your world in facing the apocalypse of worlds.

It's up to the denizens of your world to save themselves.) He stopped hitting himself and laughed bitterly.

" This...is real isn't it?" He asked softly. ( Affirmative.) He nodded, " What are the rules?"

He asked, he figured if there was a system then it was probably like a highly realistic VR game where death was real and permanent.

( Live, kill and grow stronger. The only rule is either be prey or the hunter.) He nodded, that made sense.

Just as he was starting to adjust to his new reality he found himself standing face to face with large black eyes.

There was no pupil, just pitch black eyes like ink. The creature was looking at him through his window.

It was hanging upside down, he stood still for a few moments frozen then he turned around and ran to the kitchen.

He heard the window break and something landing in his room. Then he heard footsteps and saw the creature running behind him.

It was small about the height of a 10 year old with long arms and sharp black claws. It had red skin and too large black eyes.

It nose was just two holes and it mouth was so wide it could reach on both sides of it huge head.

The creature was fast, in only a few steps it was about to catch up to him. He reached the kitchen and grabbed a pan that was on top of the counter.

He turned around to attack but found it hand flying straight for his chest. He raised the pan to block.

But he had underestimated it power, the attack sent him flying across the kitchen and he hit the shelves on the other end, the pan was ripped apart by it claws.

He felt the air leave his lungs, blood fell down his face. He was bleeding and his head felt like it was spinning.

His heart started beating harder, so hard that even he could hear it clearly. ( Awakening ability, Hawk eyes.

Bloodline detected, ability evolving. Hawk eyes- Eyes Of Cronos.) He had no idea what the system was talking about.

He saw the creature walking towards him with a terrifying grin showing it razor sharp teeth.

It long arms dragging across the ground, it claws sounding like a knife across a board. The sound was grating and irritating.

He reached out to the floor, when he hit the shelves they broke and the cutlery fell to the floor.

He was reaching for a knife but was afraid of taking his eyes off the creature. It suddenly jumped at him.

His heart beat grew faster then something strange happened. Time seemed to slow down.

He watched the creature flying at him through the air then splashing his throat with it claws.

It was as if he was seeing the future, he ducked and it slashed it claws where his throat was as he had seen, it cut open the wood board behind him.

He didn't have time to contemplate what had just happened, he reached for the knife on the floor. Then turned to attack and his eye met those of the creature.

It claws were already in the air ready to cut him open but it suddenly stopped and he could swear he saw fear in it eyes.

Akaris was a trained martial artist to begin with, he wouldn't waste this opportunity and he stabbed it eye.

His knife stuck so deep in it head he was certain it reached it brain. The creature stumbled back and fell over.

( Killed level 2 imp, experience gained. Congratulations, player is amongst the first 1000 to kill an abyss spawn.

Additional experience gained, title of pioneer gained.

Aura of dread- Will cause fear to abyss spawns weaker to player.)

" 1000 huh, hahaha." He couldn't help but laugh. It hasn't even been 10 minutes since the apocalypse and there were already those who had killed these hings.

He felt energy leave his body.

" System, what's happening?" The system answered.

( Player has overdrawn his spirit, it will regenate after resting.) He sighed and closed his eyes and drifted into sleep.

There he found himself floating in an endless void and Infront of him stood a massive golden clock.

Ding, the clock echoed like a bell and he woke up sweating.
