Chapter 21 - Where Are You (2)

She was one of the twin prostitutes I'd seen in Miranda's bedroom. She wore a brown cloak over a loose blue dress. Her demeanor was starkly different from the seductive night when she'd clung to a penis-now she looked like nothing but an innocent maiden.

Her sister's name was Rosa, right? Did something happen to her?

Rosa stared at me with a terrified expression, unable to stand. Seeing X, she'd realized I was the one who'd tormented them that night.

Her legs trembled as she hastily bowed 90 degrees toward me.

"I'm sorry! I was wrong. Please spare me."

People passed by, giving us strange looks. I suddenly felt intensely embarrassed. I quickly wrapped my arms around her to calm her down.

"No, no! Don't do this. I misunderstood everything that day. I'm sorry."

If anyone had been the tormentor, it was me. They'd done nothing to harm me. If anything, I was the one who should feel guilty.

I put on my most apologetic and awkward expression. Rosa still hadn't lowered her guard despite my apology.

First, let's pick up the scattered papers on the ground.

As I gathered the papers, Rosa cautiously joined me after reading my mood. I handed her the stack and asked:

"Did you lose your sister?"

Rosa hung her head low, trembling violently while clutching the papers. Then she spoke in a tearful voice:

"Bad bastards took our sister."

[A Quest has been generated.]

Objective : Find Karin.

Reward : Uncommon Capsule.

Time Limit : 2 days.

Failure Penalty : Rosa's death.

"Ah..."

Words failed me. If we couldn't find her sister, Rosa would die?

I turned away from Rosa and gritted my teeth, summoning X.

"You heartless bastard. Are you trying to kill that poor girl?"

[I merely deliver Quests generated by the flow of Causality. My will is not reflected in Quest contents.]

Damn it. What the hell is this scrap metal talking about? Regardless, if we leave things like this, she'll die, right?

The 2-day time limit suggested this was the remaining time before she'd be sold as a sex slave or eaten alive. We had to find her sister before then.

Even wearing X, I couldn't find Karin alone. If I truly wanted to rescue her, I needed to mobilize many people. Fortunately, I knew exactly who to ask for help.

I pointed toward Woven's Guardian building and told Rosa:

"Shall we go inside to talk?"

Rosa hesitated. She cautiously studied my face. I tried my hardest to look benevolent-my face was probably twitching.

She carefully opened her mouth:

"What... do you plan to do with me...?"

"I won't do anything to you. I just want to help, so relax."

Rosa kept scrutinizing my face. Her cheeks flushed slightly before she removed her cloak and slid one shoulder of her dress down.

"I have no money to pay for this request... May I offer my body instead...?"

My heart raced at her exposed milky-white skin and sexy collarbone. I grinned lewdly while imagining fucking her senseless as a man, then snapped back to reality upon remembering her tragic situation. I straightened her clothes and said:

"I won't lay a finger on you. If you want to pay, just help with restaurant chores as much as you want."

"Is that really okay? You're not suddenly going to make me do... what you did that time...?"

Memories surfaced of violently drilling their vaginas with my corn-shaped member. I'd gone too far while blinded by revenge. My guilt toward them deepened.

Rosa's eyes burned with distrust. Had it not been for her sister, she'd have bolted the moment she saw me. She seemed conflicted about whether to trust me.

"No. I won't. I really won't. I want to help because I'm sorry."

"Really...?"

"Follow me if you want to find your sister."

I reentered Woven's Guardian and sat at the bar table. Soon the door opened as Rosa followed and sat across from me.

Behind Rosa, I saw Miranda gathering gang members and giving orders. Miranda soon noticed me and brightly smiled before joining our table.

Miranda glanced at Rosa and asked me:

"Who's this runt?"

Since Duran's ego had disappeared, Miranda seemed to have no memory of Rosa.

I looked at the nervously frozen Rosa and answered:

"She's my close younger sister. Rosa, say hello?"

"Ah, hello. I'm Rosa."

"Right, I'm Miranda. Nice to meet you."

Beside Miranda's Western-style physique, petite Rosa looked like a baby kitten.

"Miranda, can you help find someone?"

"Not a problem. What's the deal?"

I signaled Rosa to explain. Rosa pulled out a paper and placed it before Miranda. It described her sister's features, the kidnappers' appearances, and the abduction time. As seen in the Quest window, the name 'Karin' was written.

Karin had been kidnapped yesterday morning. Unlike ordinary people, the kidnappers had red pupils above black sclera. Sensing danger, the twins hid in bushes. Realizing escape was impossible, Karin deliberately drew their attention so Rosa could survive.

Red pupils above black sclera. Aren't those Ghouls?

Monsters called Ghouls in this world lacked intelligence and had such eyes.

"Are you talking about Ghouls?"

She violently shook her head.

"No. They clearly spoke like humans. Looked like a newly formed gang."

"Did Ghouls evolve?"

Unlike me who kept suspecting Ghouls, Miranda listened seriously to Rosa. She nodded understandingly and thumped her chest-her glamorous breasts swaying violently from the impact. Pointing at the gang members lined up behind her, she said:

"Consider it done. I'll have these guys comb through every gang nearby, so don't worry too much."

The gang members flinched and trembled when Miranda pointed at them.

They must've had a rough night.

Regardless, two days left no room for complacency.

We had a quick lunch at Woven's Guardian. Miranda would handle nearby gangs while I searched Ghoul habitats around Woven. Red pupils above black sclera meant Ghouls. But could Karin survive two days with Ghouls? Only possible if she'd been imprisoned in their food storage instead of being eaten immediately.

I ascended 100 meters to scan all lifeforms around Woven. 3km from Woven, I spotted a man surrounded by over ten Ghouls.

Save him?

The moment I considered it, Ghouls already tore off his limbs, leaving only a torso. The remaining Ghouls pounced on it. Within seconds, only shattered bones and blood-soaked earth remained.

This was the typical outcome when encountering ordinary Ghouls. Even if lucky enough to meet a full-bellied Ghoul, you'd only survive a few more days in their food storage.

I vaguely recalled hearing about intelligent Ghouls somewhere, but had never seen one.

After circling Woven's forested perimeter dozens of times, I couldn't find Karin. The sun would set in about an hour.

Karin's survival chances were extremely low. But I didn't want Rosa to die either. So I kept searching.

Leaving Woven's forested terrain, I entered desert territory. This area housed colossal monsters found only in deserts-the Deathworms, calamities beyond human reckoning.

Deathworms were worm-type monsters averaging 100m long, covered entirely in thick armor. Conventional weapons couldn't damage them. Even X's weapons might prove ineffective.

They moved at terrifying speeds by lifting their massive bodies during long-distance travel. If you spotted a Deathworm from afar, you must flee as far as possible. If possible.

Fortunately, Deathworms were fairly rare. Had they swarmed, all other lifeforms would've gone extinct-or cannibalized themselves into extinction.

Praying not to encounter Deathworms, I searched the desert. No Ghouls here-only insect-type monsters.

The high altitude brought intense sunlight, but X's temperature regulation maintained pleasant coolness.

The sun would set soon. I didn't want to stay here long.

Just as I prepared to return to Woven's forests, something massive appeared-visible despite the distance-leading a sandstorm.

"Wh-what is that?"

It looked easily 500m tall. Like watching skyscrapers from my previous life come alive. It stood vertically erect while rapidly moving somewhere.

Deathworms were already huge, but this was absurd. Was this their queen?

Around it moved 80-100m long ordinary Deathworms. Only their heads were visible through the queen's sandstorm.

An unbelievable spectacle.

"X, zoom in on them."

I'd seen ordinary Deathworms three times from afar, but never one this colossal. I wanted a closer look.

[Magnifying target.]

Wow... Using X's zoom function made it feel like viewing the Deathworms up close. The giant Deathworm leading the pack looked nothing short of majestic.

But what's that?

Unbelievably, a humanoid figure stood atop the giant Deathworm's head-blue skin, purple short hair, at least 2m tall with an imposing build.

Merely seeing him brought crushing pressure like a giant standing on my chest. Breathing became laborious.

"Kkh... Kkeuk... What... what the hell is that bastard..."

[Discovered Conqueror of the New World: Eden.]

Conqueror of the New World?

Thumping my constricted chest to calm down, I racked my memory.

[To evolve me to final form, you must absorb all four Conquerors of the New World.]

I remembered. It was the topmost fixed entry in the Quest window. To gain Administrator Privileges and return to being male,

"I have to defeat four bastards like that?"
