Elara suddenly opened her eyes.
"Where the heck am I…?" And her room? No, definitely not her room. It was covered in gold, with hundreds of different jewels glistening in the walls.
She tried to stand up, but her poor body was too weak to do so, and she fell onto the floor.
A servant quickly came in.
"My lady, are you all right?" she asked.
"Yes, yes, I am. I am just perfect right now."
"Thank goodness. The count would kill me if something were to happen to you."
Elara froze. "The count? What did she mean by that?"
"C-can you give me a mirror really quickly?"
"Yes, my lady. I will go get you one." The servant left the room.
Elara thought to herself, "This can't be one of those garbage reincarnation stories… right? Did I really go into some rich girl's body? Wait, isn't this the perfect opportunity? She's rich, so I can probably live a carefree life… right?"
The servant returned. "My lady, here is the mirror you asked for."
Elara tried to lift the heavy golden mirror, but seeing as she couldn't, the servant lifted it for her instead.
The second Elara saw her reflection, her first thought was, "Wow, I really am beautiful. This girl was absolutely stunning." Her second thought was, "Hey, this face… it really looks familiar." And finally, her third thought was, "W-wait, it can't be, right? I mean, what are the chances it's actually her?"
"H-hey, what's my name again?" Elara asked, her hands shaking a bit.
"My lady, your name is Lily Evangreen. Why do you ask, my lady?"
"N-no reason, none at all. Please leave my room."
Elara—no, it was Lily now—thought to herself, "This is actually bullshit. What do you mean I'm the main villain for that garbage love story? The girl dies about a year after the main scenario starts… wait, no. What about my carefree rich life as a noble? What about my retirement dreams? Do I a-actually have to do work?"
The count entered the room.
"My lovely daughter, you were sick for almost three weeks. Are you doing better?"
Lily quickly thought to herself, I need an excuse to tell him why I don't remember him at all… those amnesia stories work… right?
"My dear father, recently, because of the sickness, I have lost most, if not all, of my memories."
"El—no, Lily. Did you truly lose your memories?" the count asked.
In her head, she was wondering about what he said. "Wait, wait a moment. Did he almost call me Elara? What the hell? Did I mishear him or something?"
"My dear father… what was it that you were about to call me?"
"It's nothing, Lily. You shouldn't worry about it. Also, don't worry about that sickness. I will go and call the greatest priests in the land to heal you."
"No, father, that is not—wait, the greatest priests?" Lily asked.
"Yes. Is something the matter?"
"No, father. Everything is fine."
Lily thought to herself, "Don't these priests usually cost a lot? Why is he spending so much… wait, don't tell me. Is my house rich? The garbage author never really mentioned much about wealth and money, so I'm not sure, but I mean… I am a noble, so like… I should be rich, right?"
"Uhm, father, is our house, Evangreen, wealthy?"
The count stared in shock. "Yes…? You would never ask such questions before."
"The sickness changed me, cough, cough. I am not feeling so well, so I would like to be left alone for a bit."
Once the count left, Lily thought to herself, "Alright, so my name is now Lily Evangreen… dang it, I completely forgot the plot. The story was so bad that I only skimmed the pages… this is all that stupid author's fault. Once I get back… can I get back?"
A servant entered.
"My lady, the count told me to make you drink this."
"What is it?"
"Just some herbal tea, nothing bad, my lady."
"Alright, if the count says so." Lily took the cup and drank the tea.
The servant left.
Thinking to herself, "Why does this tea taste kind of… I feel really sleepy."
While dozing off to sleep, she thought to herself, "Did I just get poisoned by that servant?"
