Chapter 38 - Flashback

Kiara's POV

(Fourteen years earlier.) 

My brain had a funny way of betraying me.

I was back in my old dorm, my old room.

Fourteen fucking years ago. Fuck! That was a long long time. 

Back when everything was simpler.Or may be way more dramatic.The beginning of the end. 

My suitcase sat open on the table, clothes half folded, half shoved inside like rag balls because I didn't have the time or the temperament . The zipper was already protesting and I wasn't even done packing.There were hell lotta things left to stuff in. 

Because I wasn't going for a long vacation, I was pretty much shifting base. 

The room smelled of damp clothes and detergent because I had to urgently wash some combat clothes.Faint smoke drifted in from outside.I took in the smell of freshly hunted roasted meat. Probably my last meal as an active SilverTooth combatant. 

With the rising sun of the coming day, my next meal would probably be at the Cathedral City.
