Caspian's POV

The camp didn't waste time when Mara said,"Move!" 

They moved fast and so did she. Too fast for someone who always looked that calm.

She grabbed a handful of burnt wood ash from the fire site and walked straight into the center of the clearing. Without a word, she crouched down and started drawing a circle on the ground. 

The powder spread in a perfect ring, her fingers steady like she'd done this a hundred times before.

Which… honestly? Fucking terrifying.Because I had no clue about her 'hobbies'.I thought she was just an ordinary healer.One we had chanced upon during one of our hunts - weak, injured. Like most of my rogues… we were a pack of misfits, misfortunates, beaten and weathered by destiny and luck. 

"Everyone out," she said sharply.No hesitation.No softness in her tone like always."Now."

The rest of the pack didn't argue.

One by one, they backed away, leaving the clearing empty except for me, Jax, Riven, and Dan.

The air felt heavier already.
