Chapter 6 - History

Hiruzen's strange reaction made a little more sense.

I slowly adjusted my sunglasses.

"Interesting..."

Maybe the Third Hokage knew something about Toshiro Takahashi that I didn't.

A few minutes later, the classroom door opened again.

A man walked inside.

He had brown hair, a scar running across his nose, and the familiar Konoha forehead protector.

I immediately recognized him.

Iruka Umino.

Our teacher.

He walked toward the front of the classroom and placed a stack of papers on the desk.

"Good morning, everyone."

The classroom gradually quieted down.

"My name is Umino Iruka. You can call me Iruka-sensei."

He smiled at us.

"I'm going to be your instructor throughout your time here at the Academy, so I expect all of you to—"

BANG!

The classroom door suddenly slammed open.

Everyone turned toward the entrance.

A blond-haired boy stood there, completely out of breath.

"Huff... huff..."

He was wearing an orange outfit.

Three whisker-like marks were visible on each cheek.

I froze.

No fucking way.

My Six Eyes automatically focused on him.

The chakra inside his body...

It was enormous.

Absolutely monstrous compared to the other children in the classroom.

But that wasn't what caught my attention.

I knew that face.

I had seen it countless times.

Uzumaki Naruto.

The protagonist.

The future Seventh Hokage.

And right now...

He was just a six-year-old kid who was late to his first day of the Academy.

Naruto placed his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath.

"Sorry, Iruka-sensei!" he blurted out.

Iruka's eyebrow twitched.

"Naruto..."

Naruto straightened himself.

"Yes, sensei!"

"You're late."

Iruka sighed.

"Go take your seat."

Naruto quickly scanned the classroom.

Most of the seats were already occupied.

His eyes eventually landed on an empty seat.

He hurried over and dropped into it.

I watched him quietly from the back.

So this is Naruto...

It was strange.

Really strange.

I'd watched this kid's entire story unfold on a screen in my old world.

And now...

He was sitting only a few meters away from me.

I couldn't help but stare.

Naruto suddenly looked toward the back.

Our eyes met.

He blinked.

I blinked.

He tilted his head.

I did the same.

Then he pointed at me.

"Hey!"

I raised an eyebrow.

"Me?"

"Yeah, you!"

Naruto grinned.

"Why are you wearing sunglasses inside?"

I stared at him for a second.

Then smiled.

"Why are you wearing orange?"

Naruto's grin disappeared.

"...What's wrong with orange?"

"Nothing."

I shrugged.

"It just stands out."

Naruto looked down at himself.

Then back at me.

"Well, yours stand out too!"

He pointed at my sunglasses.

"Those are cool!"

I chuckled.

"Thanks."

Iruka suddenly cleared his throat.

"Naruto."

Naruto immediately turned around.

"Yes, sensei?"

"We're in the middle of class."

"Oh..."

Naruto scratched the back of his head.

"Sorry."

I leaned back in my chair.

Yep.

Definitely Naruto.

I quietly turned my attention back toward Iruka.

Then I noticed something.

I narrowed my eyes.

...Wait.

I examined his chakra more carefully.

My eyebrows slowly rose.

"Damn."

Even Iruka's chakra reserves were smaller than mine.

I wasn't even trying to brag.

It was simply what I could see.

So even a trained shinobi has less chakra than me?

That was getting increasingly ridiculous.

But then...

My eyes shifted toward Naruto.

And the thought immediately disappeared.

"What the..."

I stared.

Naruto's chakra was on an entirely different level.

Compared to mine, his own chakra reserves were roughly four times larger.

Four.

Times.

Larger.

My expression stiffened.

That's his normal chakra...?

I focused harder.

And then I noticed something else.

There were two distinct sources of chakra inside Naruto.

My Six Eyes separated them almost immediately.

The first was Naruto's own chakra.

It was enormous.

Far beyond what a six-year-old should reasonably have.

But the second...

My eyes widened.

That chakra was completely different.

Denser.

Heavier.

It carried an entirely different quality.

It was monstrous.

Even without directly interacting with it, I could tell that the sheer quantity was on another level.

"So that's the Nine-Tails..."

Kurama.

The Nine-Tailed Fox.

The beast that had attacked Konoha six years ago.

The one sealed inside Naruto.

I could clearly distinguish the two chakra signatures.

Naruto's chakra flowed throughout his own chakra network naturally.

The other chakra was deeper.

Sealed away.

Contained behind something I couldn't completely see through.

But I could feel its presence through my eyes.

And just looking at it made me instinctively tense.

I swallowed.

"Holy shit."

I looked back at my own hands.

For a few moments, I'd been impressed because I had more chakra than the other academy students.

Then I discovered I had more than Sasuke.

Then Iruka.

Now Naruto had casually made all of that irrelevant.

And that wasn't even counting Kurama's chakra.

I leaned back in my chair.

"So this is what the protagonist's chakra looks like..."

I stared at Naruto for another moment.

He was completely oblivious.

He was sitting there, looking bored and occasionally glancing around the classroom.

He had no idea that I could see what was inside him.

I quickly looked away.

Better not stare.

But one thought wouldn't leave my mind.

If Naruto's own chakra was already four times greater than mine at six years old...

Then exactly how much chakra would I have once I grew up?

And what the hell was the origin of my own reserves?

I adjusted my sunglasses.

There is definitely something unusual about this body.

And now I was even more determined to find out what it was.

Hmph.

I leaned back in my chair.

It doesn't matter.

Naruto might have four times my chakra reserves, but quantity wasn't everything.

The Six Eyes allowed me to use chakra with absurd efficiency.

Almost nothing was wasted.

Even if Naruto has more chakra than me, I could probably outlast him.

A small smirk formed on my face.

Efficiency beats quantity.

At least...

That's what I believed.

Before I could think about it any further, Iruka stepped toward the blackboard.

"Alright, everyone. First, we'll begin with the history of Konoha."

He picked up a piece of chalk.

"So, before we begin, can someone tell me which clans founded the Hidden Leaf Village?"

I wasn't even thinking.

The answer simply came out.

"Senju."

I immediately realized I'd spoken.

At almost the exact same moment—

"Uchiha..."

Another voice answered.

I turned my head.

Sitting a few seats away was a black-haired boy.

Sasuke Uchiha.

He was looking directly at me.

For a moment, neither of us said anything.

Oh.

We had both answered.

And we'd each given one of the two clans.

Senju.

Uchiha.

The two clans that had put aside generations of hatred and founded Konoha together.

Sasuke's eyes narrowed slightly.

I could tell he was curious about me.

Probably wondering how some random kid had answered the question so confidently.

I simply stared back.

...Well, this is awkward.

Iruka looked between the two of us.

Then he smiled.

"That's right. The Senju and Uchiha clans."

He turned toward the blackboard and began writing.

"The village was founded through the cooperation of two great clans. The Senju, led by Hashirama Senju, and the Uchiha, led by Madara Uchiha..."

I listened quietly.

But I could still feel Sasuke occasionally glancing in my direction.

I didn't blame him.

After all, I had just casually answered a question about the founding of Konoha alongside him.

I adjusted my sunglasses.

Guess I made my first impression already.

Eventually, both Sasuke and I turned our attention back toward Iruka.

I sat back in my chair, listening to the lesson.

Though...

I noticed Sasuke occasionally glancing in my direction.

What does he want?

I ignored it.

But then I noticed something else.

A couple of girls in the classroom were also sneaking glances at me.

I raised an eyebrow.

...Huh?

One of them quickly looked away when our eyes met.

Another whispered something to her friend.

I almost laughed.

Well, not to brag or anything...

I couldn't help but glance at my reflection in the window.

Grey hair.

Bright blue eyes.

A fairly good-looking face.

And apparently, grey hair wasn't exactly common around here.

Especially on a six-year-old.

I adjusted my sunglasses.

I guess I stand out.

I wasn't particularly bothered by the attention.

Honestly, it was kind of amusing.

Back in my previous life, I never would've expected people to stare at me simply because of my appearance.

But here?

Apparently, I had spawned with the rarest eye technique in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, an unusual appearance, and enough chakra to make me question my own ancestry.

I suppressed a grin.

Yeah... I'm definitely not your average civilian.

I turned my attention back toward Iruka.

For now, there were more important things to worry about.

Like figuring out exactly what the hell I was.
