Chapter 3 - The Moon and the Vein

A secluded, modern glass house in a rain-drenched forest. This is their safe haven, away from a society that sees them as biological anomalies—the "hybrids" who don't fit the standard blueprint.

Characters:

- The Avoidant (Wolf Hybrid): Independent, stoic, and physically grounded. Her wolf side demands freedom and space. When emotions get too heavy, her instinct is to "run with the pack" or disappear into the woods to self-regulate.

- The Anxious (Vampire Hybrid): Sensitive, perceptive, and deeply tethered to her partner. Her vampire side is built on the need for connection—a literal hunger for the presence and essence of the other.

It is the night of a waning moon. The Wolf Hybrid is feeling the "itch" under her skin, a restless need to be alone to handle her shifting hormones. She starts packing a small bag, barely looking up, her movements efficient and cold.

The Vampire Hybrid watches from the doorway, her heart rate spiking. To her, the Wolf's silence isn't just a need for space—it feels like an impending permanent exit. She begins to "hover," asking questions about when she'll be back, offering to go with her, and eventually picking a small argument just to get the Wolf to look at her.

"I just need to breathe," the Wolf Hybrid growls, her eyes flashing amber. She moves toward the door, her blueprint demanding solitude.

"If you walk out that door, you're choosing the woods over me," the Vampire Hybrid whispers, her fangs slightly descending—a physical manifestation of her fear of abandonment.

The Wolf pauses at the threshold. She realizes that her "blueprint" for survival (running away) is hurting the person whose "blueprint" is based on staying close. She doesn't put the bag down, but she turns around, walks back, and presses her forehead against the Vampire's.

"I am coming back," the Wolf says, grounding the Vampire with physical touch. "My DNA needs the trees tonight, but my heart stays in this room. Wait for me at sunrise?"

The Vampire Hybrid exhales, the tension leaving her shoulders. She accepts the reassurance, learning to trust the space between them.

( Can they override their predatory/protective instincts for love?

- How their hybrid origins (perhaps being "created" or "hunted") shaped their attachment styles.

- The Wolf's heightened smell vs. the Vampire's heightened hearing, making every emotional shift impossible to hide.)
