Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The First Day

Of course, Ellen would be grateful to Alfonso for interviewing her beforehand. The only person she knew at the company was Alfonso. Therefore, for the time being, she was relying on Alfonso until she could meet the CEO in person. Hearing Flint's reasonable words about not making assumptions, she resolved not to make any more assumptions until she found solid evidence.

A week had passed, and she was finally able to enjoy her first day at work at her dream company. Even though news of her scandal was still trending on social media, she still confidently entered the abstract studio building, dressed in a black work suit. She was increasingly impatient to get to know all the members of the narrative designer team who had worked hard to develop an engaging game story idea, which had succeeded in making her even more addicted to the game.

Naturally, on her first day of work, Alfonso greeted her respectfully in the meeting room, after being escorted by the receptionist. Once again, she began to wonder about the CEO's true whereabouts. Even though it was her first day at the company, the CEO still didn't want to make himself known.

"By the way, please convey my regards to the CEO that I am very grateful to him for accepting me as the head of the narrative designer team."

Alfonso smiled kindly. "Okay, I'll tell him later. Our CEO is sure to be very excited to welcome you today."

"But will my team welcome me?" A weak sigh escaped her lips. "They'll probably hate me and not want to work with me."

"No. In fact, they're very happy to be working with you. I'll introduce you to them now."

As Ellen and Alfonso walked toward the narrative designers' work area, Flint gazed at his friend with a beaming smile from afar. His dream of working with his beloved friend had finally come true, albeit not directly. For now, he could only hide in his office as usual. Even his employees, aside from the narrative designers, didn't know he was the founder of Fantasia Star Studio, as he always wore sunglasses in the office.

Ellen bowed her head respectfully before the three members of the narrative designer team. She was eager to work with them to produce a truly compelling storyline. Although she initially thought her team might dislike her, they actually seemed to welcome her warmly.

"You've probably all known Ellen for a long time. She used to be an actress, and now she'll be working with us forever. I hope you'll welcome her warmly, even though her scandal is still circulating on social media," Alfonso said firmly.

A naive woman wearing glasses immediately bowed her head enthusiastically before the actress. "It's truly an honor to work with you, Ellen. I used to always watch the films you've acted in."

Ellen's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Of course. I'm one of your fans." She extended her right hand. "I'm Janice, nice to meet you."

Ellen briefly shook hands with the innocent woman, then turned to the other two male team members. She extended her right hand to a tall, well-dressed man. Naturally, the man immediately shook hands with her enthusiastically.

"I'm Nathan, nice to meet you in person, Ellen. I've seen you in the game lobby."

Ellen's eyes widened again. "Really? So you're one of the men who's been chasing me all this time?"

Nathan laughed awkwardly. "I actually wanted to chase you, but I couldn't because everyone was so enthusiastic about stealing you. That's why I've been keeping quiet all this time."

Ellen smiled faintly at her new friend. "Thank goodness, at least you're not like them, constantly teasing me and making me uncomfortable."

"Actually, when you were involved in the scandal, I wanted to defend you. But I couldn't because I was afraid I'd be the one attacked."

"It's okay. In fact, I'm very grateful to you all for accepting me as a member of your team." Now she extended her hand to a similarly large man. "What's your name?"

The large man shook hands with the former actress shakily. "I'm Raymond."

"Why are you shaking as if you saw a ghost?"

"I actually couldn't believe I was finally working with my favorite actress. Even when the CEO suddenly wanted to hire another team member, we were actually quite surprised. It's unusual for a CEO to want to hire another team member."

Ellen furrowed her brows as she turned her head to look at Alfonso, who still had an innocent expression on his face. It could be concluded that Alfonso wasn't the CEO of Fantasia Star Studio. If Alfonso were, the narrative designer would have greeted him with respect. So, who exactly was the CEO of this company? Should she find out through her own team?

"Really? Then I really have to thank him for letting me join your team."

Janice gripped her new friend's hand tightly. "If you need help, we'd definitely like to help you."

Alfonso nodded to the rest of the narrative designer team, signaling that they shouldn't reveal the CEO's identity yet. He wanted to formally and politely introduce himself to his beloved friend once he was ready.

Ellen now focused on studying all the projects her team was working on when Alfonso returned to the CEO's office. Especially on her first day of work, she wasn't allowed to overwork herself. All she did now was listen to the narrative designers' various instructions regarding a chapter they had been writing recently. She read the draft of the script with focus.

"By the way, are you guys planning to add a little romantic spice to the story?" she asked casually.

Janice's eyes widened. "You want Brianna and Duke Jonathan to date?"

"Perhaps everyone will be even more enthusiastic about playing this game. Especially since Gen Z really likes anything related to love."

Nathan scratched his head gently. "But will our CEO approve? He usually doesn't like romantic storylines."

Raymond nodded, his arms folded. "He once told us the real reason he didn't want to add romance to this storyline. That's why we didn't dare add it."

drrt…drrt…

Suddenly, her phone vibrated in her blazer pocket. She took it out and read a message from an unknown number. The message stated that her parents' accident was no ordinary accident, making her nearly scream.

"The perpetrator who killed your parents is Jackson Vincent, the president director of Star Group."
