Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

50,000 years ago, a box sent from the gods called Bia sought a worthy vessel to open it. The person who can open is granted the power to do anything they could ever dream of…

War rained across the world for this magical box, billions of people dead over thousands of years. Until a group of 10 elderly men called the "Kardia" wanted peace. These men were some of the best fighters of their era, you could say inhuman, kind of heart, full of knowledge, and wanting peace. They fought for 95 years straight until they had the cube. Their overwhelming IQ and strength pushed back the world. Once granted the power to rule all, they made the decision to put the cube into the heart of Gia (earth), hiding it and creating peace among all. Tales were told about them being evil, children of God, or men of greed, but stories were told of a prophecy that one of them would come back one day for an impossible goal, this was the Melania Era.

After the events of the "Melania Era" the world eventually moved on as if nothing happened, only remnants and ancient artifacts, smudged writing, and buried corpses.

It's the Medieval Era now, an era of pitchforks and the ruling class.

Only a few villages know that the Melania Era existed, such as a small village on the east coast of the continent called "Ojeduwe", and they created an entire religion from remains of the Melania Era they've found, they call this religion "Kobitos Bia".

The people have a traditional holiday celebrating the end of the era of death and they're currently celebrating it. Lighting torches, eating as if it's their last day alive, people danced like jesters, singing and dancing on this wonderful day.

"The Kardia may bless my ill child!" A woman prayed.

"May the gods purify our hearts on this day!" The Mayor said, raising a hand to the sky, with a bottle of wine placed on his chest.

"Ayyee!" yelled across the village as men raised a hand in the sky.

"Our ancestors look upon us who fought for a foolish cause, today we look forward to a new beginning!" The Mayor said with grace.

As the people continue to party, one boy remains at his small cottage a child prodigy, pressing his head deep into his old and used pillow. Alone in his cottage attempting to sleep as people scream and bang on his walls.

"Shut the hell up!" His yelling is muffled into his pillow as he constantly switches sides on his bed.

The wall banging intensifies.

The boy groaned, then lifted up his blanket. Walking hastefully past the photos of him and his older brother and mother, he puts on his boots, and his comfort coat for a noise complaint. Opening and closing his door he stumbles through snow, he angrily begins to shout at villagers until his brother runs at him.

"Hey Lucas, you finally decided to join us man!" Jake said, giving Lucas a hug hard enough to crush a log.

"Have you gotten taller? We're almost the same height now and I'm 15 and you're only 12, huh?!"

"H-how d-did you catch me Jake?!" Lucas said while struggling to speak.

Lucas manages to break free from Jake's grasp, and catch his breath.

"I was going to ask you to come out and have fun with us! Maybe even steal some beer?"

"Why would I ever want to- Cough, hang out with anyone here, most of the kids here are dumb and mean anyway... W-wait beer what?! You know we're too young for beer! And how would you even get it?"

"Hey i know some ways, and im almost legal, wasn't it 17 for drinking?"

"It's 16 and it's the law! And who knows you might get addicted and.. And end up like dad!"

"Dad was a horrible person, I can't believe what he di-" Jake takes a deep breath, and exhales.

"Yeah you're right maybe we should just take a walk or something-"

"Heeyyy, is that Jake?! Jake come over here! Oh and you."

A couple of guys holding drinks come over to where Jake is.

"Oh, hey Henry.."

"I got the beer so where should we drink it?"

"Sorry but you should drink it without me, I'm heading to the lake with my brother Lucas."

"Your brother? No one likes him, you should be doing cool things instead of hanging around bobolynes."

"That's not true, and he's my little brother. Just leave us alone toda-"

"Come with us."

...

"... I have to go, Lucas, have fun without me."

They walk away, leaving Lucas behind.

"If those guys didn't have money they would be worthless." Lucas said, clenching his fists.

Sigh

"I just hope Jake doesn't get into any trouble."

The sun starts to set, and Lucas decides to rest for a bit then go take a walk.

"Finally, they stopped all that yelling."

He takes off his coat, and puts his boots to the side of his bed.

Closing his eyes, his mind begins to drift…

Gold necklaces

a gold crown

and a throne

A king of the name Lucas, no Hevock would rule. He would stop racism, and unfair treatment. He wouldn't rule harshly, or call himself greater than any man. He would fight for liberty and freedom, just like any man.

But a war would come, a man who resembled Lucas's dad would lead. Destroying Lucas's kingdom, ripping everything away from him in a horrifyingly violent way. He would enslave Hevock, punching and beating him to take his anger out. He wouldn't let Hevock play, or do anything fun.

Until the man would take it too far, he would find Hevock's mom to torment Hevock more, the man balled up his fist an-

"AAHh!" Lucas screamed

He woke up covered in sweat, his heart beating so fast it hurts. His body trembles and shakes uncontrollably. He clenches his chest, as he takes deep breaths.

He turns on his lamp and lays down for a few minutes, just taking deep breaths.

He finally gets up, ready to take a walk.

It's a cold dark night, quiet enough to hear a pindrop. Everyone in the village slept peacefully, even the guards took a break to catch some rest. Lucas walks past the empty bottles and trash left behind from last night.

Taking in the cold breeze Lucas smiles while walking out of the entrance.

"This is the only thing that keeps me from going insane in this village"

Lucas looks at the sky before walking into the forest, looking at the stars patterns and the empty void of space. He thinks it's beautiful.

Walking to the forest he sees bugs and animals. He even tries to hold a bunny, it runs away. So many bushes and trees, he ultimately gets to the end of the forest, he takes one last look at the sky. Engraving the sense of freedom into his head that it gives him. Until he sees something into the sky.

"WOAH!! Is that a morning star!?"

Another one appears.

"!!!"

And another one.

"..?"

Until Lucas realizes something.

"W-WAIT THAT'S NOT A MORNING STAR!"

Fiery Arrows are shot over the forest.

"Is the village being attacked!?!"

Lucas runs towards the village, tripping over branches and running through bushes for a shortcut.

"I need to find Jake!"

Screaming and the blazing heat of fire covering the village.

"MY SON, SOMEONE HELP MY SO-"

A warrior stabs a mother through the chest.

"FORWARD!" Said a military commander.

Lucas exists in the forest running straight at the chaos that is war. Looking at the burning cottages and fallen villagers he heads toward his cottage, taking a knife and supplies.

"FIRE!"

BOOM!

An explosion nearly misses Lucas hitting a cottage in front of him.

"HOLY SHIT!" Lucas yelled, his heart racing.

He clenches hard on his knife, braces himself and runs towards the lake. He sees Henry, but where is Jake?

"HENRY!!! HENRY TURN AROUND-"

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?"

"WHAT?!" Lucas said, surprised.

He runs behind Henry, stopping. He looks down and sees his own brother in a pool of blood.

"I-I couldn't save hi-"

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT HENRY! IF HE NEVER CAME TO DRINK WITH YOU HE WOULD HAVE NEVER DIED!"

"I HATE YOU SO MUCH!" Lucas screamed at the top of his lungs.

"WHY DO YOU EVEN EXIST HENRY?!"

Lucas starts to feel something weird.

Lucas feels a sharp pain in his chest, he's been stabbed. He didn't even feel it because of the adrenaline. Lucas drops to the ground, as blood fills his lungs. He mutters one last thing before he dies.

"I hate everyone."

But Lucas has not died, not yet.

1 DAY LATER

He wakes up, unsure of how he lived. Voices, and voices and voices and voices and voices and voices clouded Lucas's mind, about some type of "Box". He took anything useful from his broken village, and he set out with a new mindset, to become king and open Bia.

These voices tell Lucas several things. It tells him that Bia is heavily guarded and the best way to get to it would be becoming king. The last thing it would tell him is that Lucas is a Demikoine, a human altered by Bia.

Lucas runs west. Faster than he's ever ran before. He kills anyone that gets in his way making sure to not be seen by crowds as he thinks that humanity is just violence, based off of previous events.

He runs day in and day out, until he finds a library. Walking inside he breaks the chains blocking the books, and stole any book that was useful to him. Bringing the books to a dark forest. He studies 17 hours a day, without rest.

After reading all the books he changed clothes, and used the money from his victim to go to school. Making sure to look as presentable as possible, he made sure to make friends and wear a fake smile. Each year went by, he started to forget what the voices told him. Even though he thought he hated humanity, a sense of peacefulness filled his soul with his friends.

He started to get comfortable, letting his guard down around humans. His mask began to break, more and more people started to realize that he was different, inhuman maybe. Lucas would publicly speak about how he's not Human, thinking that Humanity would accept him as his own.

It was time to elect a king, all these years finally added up, 4 out of 7 votes for Lucas he became king. Lucas's entire kingdom would be shocked, the idea of something like Lucas, a humanoid creature ruling scared them. They didn't know how Lucas thought, they didn't even know what he was.

Confusion and questions ran throughout the world. Should Lucas be able to rule? Does Lucas hold a threat to humanity? What even is Lucas? Philosophers, and scientists throughout the world would come together to question and answer Lucas, but Lucas would respond first. He told them who he was, a Demikoine, he told them he had good intentions and he wanted to be treated like a Human.

They didn't listen.

Confusion spiralled into hatred. Lucas was hated because of his differences, the one thing Lucas despised the most from his childhood, and he couldn't run away from it.

Voices spoke to him for the first time in 6 years. It told him to remember who he was, and it told him that opening Bia would fix all of his problems. With that power, who would reject him?

And if all else failed, the voices would be his friend.

Bia was in the northwest continent of the world, (It's called the cursed island because of the natural disasters and strange light coursing through it.) He went alone, running throughout the island until he found a hatch. Banging his fists into the hatch until he broke into it, only a bottomless tunnel with a bright light at the end of it remained. Lucas second guesses and almost turns back until something stops him, Hevock jumps down. Complete darkness, it's so quiet he could sleep peacefully.

Going deeper and deeper it gets warm… Too warm. Lucas's mind starts to race as his skin starts to melt. Screaming as he cuddles into a ball trying to protect himself he can't even think straight. He's almost to the core of the earth, falling at immeasurable speeds until he suddenly slams down into the core of the Earth. His body is completely burnt to a crisp, but once again he somehow survives.

He regains his vision, nothing to do but go down, his arm starts to regrow, and he breaks through the inner core and sees a blinding light, its Bia. Opening it, he suddenly heals his body back to normal as his body glows with great power, but one thing was sure this power wouldn't last for long. With no time to spare he flew to his kingdom and declared that they would be punished for their sins, as Hevock saw them "Unworthy for second chances". Millions of people were killed by Hevock.

The voices applauded Hevock, they forced Lucas to do more.

Death and destruction led to rival kingdoms grouping together to attempt to weaken Hevock. Humans believed that "Hevock was the number one threat to humans. Hevock needs to burn in hell. Hevock was the root of all evil." Beaten to a pulp with a couple of days to live. He made the decision to focus his power on one thing, an explosion that would paint the world with energy. All Lucas wanted was to fit in, and be treated as if he was a normal human being. All he thought about was living peacefully back at his old village, with Jacob his brother. Being surrounded by other people like him. His body exploded destroying the continent and leaving a vast ocean with occasional chunks of land.

The explosion launched some of his bones far across the land too dangerous to touch, eventually the energy would mutate humans into Demikoines like him, and they would live near to Lucas's Bia infused bones, with that energy they could strive. Without Lucas's knowledge Demikoines would end up hating Humans for what they did to him. The events of Lucas's life would be altered to fit the description of how Humans and Demikoines thought of him. The story would be called "A Legends Fate" by Demikoines, Humans would call it "The Death of a Devil". Lucas would be told throughout Demikoine civilization, his legacy helped progress the race even if he wasn't there, but one thing is for sure his soul is drifting off and affecting the world, even thousands of years after his death.
