Chapter 9 - I absolutely love this world!

Because it was a live broadcast, the picture and sound were very noisy. One could vaguely see that it was on a large bridge, where the Umbrella Corporation had already erected a high wall. More than a dozen well-trained soldiers stood neatly on the wall, holding their rifles across their chests.

Below the wall were three teams, with similarly armed personnel holding instruments, sequentially checking the people lining up to come forward.

The camera moved backward; the orderly queue did not extend far, becoming a chaotic mess just over ten meters away. Throngs of people pushed forward frantically, and the few Police mixed among them were utterly unable to maintain order, only able to fruitlessly open their mouths and emit hoarse shouts.

Many people fought fiercely with others to cut in line, and even more targeted the elderly, weak, women, and children in the queue. The evil in human nature was displayed vividly at this moment.

Deadpool pouted and switched to another TV channel.

Even if he knew the plot in advance, he could guess that the Umbrella Corporation was just putting on a show now, even if he hadn't seen the movie.

If the nuclear strike failed, they could release these news reports to whitewash themselves. In fact, it wouldn't be long before they would likely stop evacuating citizens for various reasons, even without a zombie attack.

As for the citizens who had already been evacuated, whether they would return to society and continue to live as ordinary people, or be taken to laboratories for human experiments, and then be represented on stage to denounce the suffering the virus brought them, and praise the good deeds of the Umbrella Corporation... it could only be said that everything was still a mystery.

Compared to the previous TV channel, the content on this one was much more exciting.

The reporter Miss and the cameraman were hiding in a tall building. The door behind them kept making heavy and urgent knocking sounds. The camera filmed everything on the street from above.

Many ordinary people were frantically running away on the street towards a defensive point set up by soldiers, followed closely by a large group of ragged, ghastly-faced zombies. They were not moving fast; some even had missing limbs and couldn't even stand up, only able to crawl writhing on the ground.

But they had the advantage of numbers, and as time passed, an endless stream of zombies heard the commotion and rushed out from shops and alleys on both sides of the street, joining the horde.

The soldiers noticed the situation, turned their guns, pulled the triggers, and bullets poured out, providing cover for these ordinary people.

"Hurry! Hurry! Come on!"

The reporter Miss's voice trembled, but she still couldn't help clenching her fists, quietly cheering on the ordinary people in danger downstairs.

Suddenly, a man among the ordinary people accidentally stepped on a plastic bag on the ground, his foot slipped, and he lost his balance, falling heavily to the ground.

A girl looked back, screaming something in terror, and quickly ran back to try and pull the man up, but it was too late.

A zombie that had run out of a nearby shop was already within reach. It didn't choose the man sitting on the ground but pounced on the standing girl, opening its gaping maw and biting down hard on the girl's neck.

Immediately, a sharp and shrill howl echoed throughout the entire street.

The man quickly scrambled onto the zombie, grabbing its hair, desperately trying to pull its head away from the girl.

He succeeded; the zombie's head lifted, its mouth still holding a piece of the girl's neck flesh.

Blood spurted, staining both the zombie and the man crimson. The man weakly clutched the girl's neck, crying uncontrollably.

The zombies following closely behind arrived and pounced on the man as well. Amidst their wails, the two became the zombies' lunch.

However, their demise also delayed the leading zombies, buying time for other survivors. Under the soldiers' cover, they successfully ran to the defensive point and hid behind the soldiers.

However, before they could even breathe a sigh of relief, two people in the group suddenly convulsed and fell to the ground, their eyes rolling back and foam coming from their mouths.

Clearly, these two had already been infected.

The soldiers raised their guns, intending to end their lives, but were desperately blocked by the two people's relatives. Chaos erupted at the defensive point, which was ultimately breached by the zombies. Amidst the screams, no one survived.

Upstairs, the reporter Miss watched this scene with tears streaming down her face, desperately covering her mouth.

Suddenly, the sound of wood cracking came, and the camera sharply turned. The door of the room they were hiding in was destroyed by zombies, and seven or eight zombies rushed into the room, scrambling for precedence.

Next, the camera's screen shook wildly, accompanied by screams, as if the cameraman was using the camera as a weapon, continuously attacking the zombies.

Three minutes later, the camera hit the ground with a thud, the screen stopped shaking, fixed at floor level, and finally, only the female reporter's wails and the sound of glass shattering could be heard.

And these cruel scenes were constantly unfolding in the streets and alleys of Raccoon City.

Turning off the TV, Deadpool rummaged around the room, found a map, glanced at it, and pinpointed his location. The evacuation point was Black Gate Bridge.

That was also the only way to leave Raccoon City at the moment.

He pushed open the heavy church doors, which let out a loud creak. Outside the church, the sun was bright. A dozen zombies were startled by the sound of the door opening and abruptly turned their heads to look at Deadpool.

"Woah."

The zombies rushed forward at full speed. Deadpool was not flustered in the slightest. He gulped down the remaining half bottle of cola, crushed the bottle, and threw it, accurately hitting the head of the leading zombie.

Three points!

Nice!

The thrown empty cola bottle had no power whatsoever; it couldn't even slow down the zombie when it hit its head.

"Swish! Deadpool!"

Deadpool raised his hands, striking the classic Ultraman transformation pose, bent his knees, and leaped up, soaring high.

By the time he landed in a standard Superhero three-point stance, his black and red mixed bodysuit was already on him.

Instant costume change, that's how cool it was.

Not choosing to draw a gun, Deadpool gripped a long sword behind his back with one hand. Only when the zombies reached him did he suddenly draw the sword.

Behold my sword slash!

The sharp blade easily cut the zombie's head in half, red and White oozing from its skull, followed by the sound of the zombie falling to the ground.

"As the protagonist of an R-rated movie, I really love this World."

After dispatching all the zombies with almost no effort, Deadpool exclaimed, took out a White handkerchief, meticulously wiped the filth from his long sword, and then strode quickly towards the Black Gate Bridge on the map.

At the same time, in a residential house in Raccoon City, the TV screen flickered, constantly reporting the situation in the streets and alleys.

A tall and well-proportioned girl listened to the string of bad news coming from the TV, coldly put down her phone, took off her high heels, put on long boots, stood up, picked up the pistol on the table, and neatly inserted it into the holster at her waist.

On the wall next to the table were several notices.

S.T.A.R.S. agent Jane Valentine was suspended from duty due to unsatisfactory performance on the Arklay Mountains mission.
