Chapter 17 - Chapter seventeen

ROSELYN;

It was getting late into the night, i had just put Sage to sleep.

She couldn't sleep after having those repeated dreams or nightmares, i reassured her and stayed with her until she fell asleep.

She has been trying hard to know, the face of the lady and the masked man whom she always saw.

looking at her now..... She looked so peaceful, i gently tucked the blanket around her.

I could only sigh as i stood up to leave.

Suddenly..., someone barged in,

out of fear, i attacked with my powers, sending the person crashing straight into the wall.

She had already hit the wall before i knew who it was.

Catrin!!

I'm sorry, i didn't know it was you!; i apologized quickly.

Where is Sage? She asked, completely ignoring my apology.

She's asleep; i replied

"Pack her things, and yours too, i will lead you out of the palace, you mist leave this place "

What!! Where will we go? I asked shocked

Roselyn, you're a witch like me, although you may not know what i know, I'm sure you can sense the danger coming her way. I need you to leave, I'll find you when the time is right; Catrin said firmly.

I had to wake Sage us, she stared at us confusedly and sleepy as Catrin led us out of the palace before midnight.

KAEL;

It's strange for me not be asleep by this time of the night, but i just couldn't rest.

I kept strolling through the palace corridors until something caught my attention.

Catrin, leading two maids out of the palace, the younger maid seems to be one of my sister's maids.

Does father actually know about this?

Come in; my father said after i knocked on his door

"Greetings, father"

He looked up at me and smiled lightly before gesturing me to sit.

What brings you here? He asked

"Father"; i began, fully turning to face him.

"I thought maids where not allowed to leave the palace, or is it possible that they were sent to the market this late at night"; i asked

What maid did you see leaving the palace? He asked

I saw Catrin, leading the chief maid and Astra's youngest maid out of the palace, i thought they were going to the market, but all businesses are closed by this time of the night; i replied

My father's lips curved into a faint smile.

Thanks for the information son....., you may leave; he said calmly

I bowed slightly, studying his expression one last time before turning to leave.

Something didn't feel right....

THALION;

"Ugh… I hate betrayers."

"You still refuse to confess why you did it?" I asked the woman kneeling before me.

She was bowing — blood running down her face — yet she still refused to speak.

She suddenly smirked and slowly lifted her head. Her eyes began to glow green.

I stared at her in anger, waiting for a response.

Without warning, a knife appeared in her hand.

Before anyone could react, she turned the blade on herself and cut her throat.

"You wi—ll ne—ver be able to get the cry—stal," she whispered weakly, her voice breaking as she spoke.

Her body collapsed to the ground… and moments later, it burned into ashes on its own.
