Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 : The Night That Bound Their Souls

The night had fallen completely over the Demon Palace.

The skies above were clear, illuminated by a cold silver moon. Its light poured through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the dark marble floors.

Inside the private chambers of the Demon Lords… silence ruled.

Not the silence of emptiness.

But the silence before something irreversible.

Mo Zhu stood near the window, his back facing Bai Chenxi.

His long black robes had already fallen loose, revealing part of his pale, flawless skin beneath.

Chenxi stood near the bed.

Nervous.

His heart refused to calm down.

He had made his decision.

Yet standing here now… alone with Mo Zhu… made everything feel real.

Too real.

Mo Zhu turned slowly.

His crimson eyes locked onto Chenxi.

Not as a ruler.

Not as a god.

But as a man looking at the one he desired.

"Chenxi."

His voice was low.

Gentle.

Chenxi swallowed.

"Yes… my lord."

Mo Zhu walked toward him.

Each step slow.

Deliberate.

Chenxi didn't move.

Couldn't move.

When Mo Zhu finally stood before him, he lifted his hand.

His fingers brushing softly against Chenxi's cheek.

Warm.

Protective.

"Are you afraid?" he asked quietly.

Chenxi hesitated.

"…No."

Mo Zhu studied his eyes carefully.

Looking for doubt.

For hesitation.

He found neither.

Only nervous trust.

That alone was enough to weaken even a Demon Lord's control.

Mo Zhu leaned closer.

His breath grazing Chenxi's lips.

"If you wish to stop… say it."

Chenxi's fingers slowly reached forward.

Gripping Mo Zhu's robes.

Pulling him closer.

That was his answer.

Mo Zhu's restraint shattered.

His lips met Chenxi's.

Soft at first.

Testing.

Chenxi froze for half a second.

Then responded.

His hands moving to Mo Zhu's shoulders.

Holding him.

Mo Zhu deepened the kiss slowly.

Not rushing.

Savoring every second.

His hand moved to Chenxi's waist.

Pulling him closer until there was no space left between them.

Chenxi's breathing became uneven.

His body reacting instinctively.

Mo Zhu's lips moved from his mouth… to his jaw… then lower… to his neck.

Chenxi gasped softly.

His fingers tightening.

"Mo Zhu…"

His voice trembled.

Mo Zhu immediately stopped.

Looking at him.

Concern visible.

"Tell me to stop."

Chenxi shook his head.

"…Don't stop."

Those words ignited something darker.

Something possessive.

Mo Zhu lifted him effortlessly.

Chenxi instinctively wrapped his arms around his neck.

Mo Zhu placed him gently onto the bed.

Not like a conqueror.

But like someone placing something sacred.

He leaned over him.

Their eyes locked.

Chenxi reached up.

Touching his face.

As if confirming he was real.

Mo Zhu kissed him again.

Deeper.

More desperate.

Chenxi responded fully now.

His fear replaced by longing.

Their bodies moved closer.

Warmer.

Breath against breath.

Heartbeat against heartbeat.

Outside, the moon continued to watch silently.

Witness to the moment their fates became one.

At the same time…

Shadow Emperor Li Feng's chamber.

Yuchen stood near the door.

He should have left.

But he hadn't.

Li Feng stood before him.

His silver hair falling over his eyes.

Making him look less like an emperor…

And more like a man struggling to control himself.

"Yuchen."

His voice was quieter than usual.

Yuchen looked up.

"Yes… my lord."

Li Feng stepped closer.

Close enough to feel his warmth.

"You can still leave."

Yuchen didn't move.

Didn't step back.

Didn't step forward.

He stayed.

Li Feng lifted his hand.

His fingers brushing against Yuchen's wrist.

Yuchen shivered.

Not from fear.

From something else.

"Why are you staying?" Li Feng asked.

Yuchen hesitated.

"…Because I want to."

That answer destroyed Li Feng's final restraint.

He pulled him forward.

Kissing him.

Unlike Mo Zhu, Li Feng's kiss carried hunger.

Possession.

Need.

Yuchen gasped softly.

But didn't resist.

Instead, his hands slowly gripped Li Feng's robes.

Pulling him closer.

Li Feng's arm wrapped around his waist.

Holding him firmly.

As if afraid he might disappear.

He lifted him easily.

Carrying him toward the bed.

Yuchen's heart raced violently.

Yet he didn't stop him.

Didn't want to.

Li Feng placed him down.

Leaning over him.

Their foreheads touching.

"You are mine now."

Not as a command.

As a promise.

Yuchen closed his eyes.

Accepting it.

That night…

Neither of them belonged to themselves anymore.

They belonged to each other.
