Knock. Knock.
"Coming…"
Clara called out as she hurried to the door and unlocked it, only to find Damian standing on the other side with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers. She blinked in surprise, especially since she had not heard from him all day and had not expected him at all.
Damian wore a simple shirt, joggers, and crocs, yet even in such plain clothing he looked breathtaking. It irritated her that she was still drooling over him despite herself.
"I thought you bailed on me," she muttered with a faint smile as she accepted the flowers.
She had not expected him to hear it. But Damian was more demon than human now. His senses and physical capabilities had surpassed what any normal person could hope to match.
"Why would you think that?"
His question startled her. Her last words had been barely more than a whisper.
'How did he hear that?'
