Chapter 5 - Chapter 2: Mira's... affection...? (part 2)

Mira was a girl, a young noble lady. Of course she wanted to be praised for her choices by her fiance!

She put the perfumes on for him, even though it was unnecessary it was something she did for him, with him in mind, and he literally spat it out…

Yes... his fault was definitely worth another apology.

Only that, how should he approach the…?

"...huh…?"

While overthinking the ideas of how to make up with his fiancee, Rotsard realized a bit late that this time there was no battle in his bowels…

This time… this time it felt almost… like normal? Like it should be…? It didn't hurt, and it wasn't… explosive… that's for sure!

Was it perfect timing or what?

His maid, Nan, should be finishing the preparation of the cold room, so if he wouldn't need to spend his days on the porcelain throne eating only gruel and drinking plain water, he could enter it without issue!

That night, for the first time since almost a week, Rotsard slept like a log.

He slept so well, in fact, that he woke up late for Mira's daily visit…

"UGHHGH…! Hurgh! Uegh…! I knew it! You are poisoning the young lord!"

"Wh-what?! N-no I'm not!"

"...?"

Rotsard was woken up by the gagging sounds made by his butler… his butler who was confronting Mira about the murky green contents of the vial…!

"This ends today! You are no longer allowed to come close to the Young Lord!"

While the bleached-blond-haired boy was forcing himself out of bed, struggling with the clothes that became too loose, the butler was taking his liberty with talking to the black-haired girl.

"Y-you don't have the right to…!"

"You were poisoning your own fiance! You have no say in the ma…! Ah! Young lord!"

While Mira was getting teary-eyed, sobbingly defending herself, Rotsard walked out of the room. He grabbed the glass with the amber liquid prepared by the butler and approached the two of them.

"Young lord! You went for your morning drink! Don't you worry, I have everything under…"

"If my fiancee decided to get back at me for my prior behavior…"

The butler declared with a bright smile seeing him come to him first, but then froze up when Rotsard grabbed his hand and pulled him down to his level while letting a low growl.

"M-my lord…? What are you…?"

"...then it's my duty as her future husband to receive her punishment in full to earn her forgiveness!"

*WHAM*

"!!!"

Since the scene was getting attention anyway, quite a number of people witnessed Rotsard smashing the glass of alcohol against his butler's head while prying the vial with a murky green substance off his hands.

Some were speechless, someone began calling for help, but no one stepped up to stand between the bleached-blond-haired boy and the butler kneeling at his feet with a bleeding face full of glass shards doused in a stinging alcohol.

"W-wait…! You… you thought that I was poisoning you…? And… and you still drank the potion thinking it might be poison…!? Why!?"

At first, horrified by the situation, Mira blinked a few times before tearing up again and asking her fiance in a trembling voice.

"Because you gave it to me to drink."

"...!"

Rotsard responded while shrugging his shoulders and shaking off the shards of glass that cut into his hand, leaving Mira speechless.

"Uu…"

"U…? Wait! No…!'

Mira's shoulders trembled and she sniffled, making Rotsard tilt his head and echo her only to jolt in realization and take a step towards her…

"UUUUUWEEEEE…! S-stupid! Stupid! Stupid! STUPII-iiid…!"

But he was too late, and before he could reach her, she burst into tears and ran away, this time adding some insults between the outbursts of tears, ending up out of breath.

"...haaah… and what the hel are you all looking at!? Don't you have lectures to attend or something!?"

"!!!"

Being too weak to run after Mira, Rotsard let out a troubled sigh before looking up and glaring at the gathered bystanders, who ended up scattering like scared pigeons when he growled at them.

"...hurgh… Ugh…"

He then ended up drinking the murky green potion before sparing a glance at the butler struggling to stop the bleeding.

"Haa... Oh, right. You're fired."

"Y-young lord, you can't…!"

Rotsard announced without an ounce of hesitation and shut the door right in the butler's face.

He literally stopped caring about the man at all.

In the first place, Rotsard decided that if this time there would be little or no effect of Mira's unidentified potion, he would attend the lectures normally.

And lo and behold! This time, he was feeling completely fine!

Of course, he was weak and tired, but his bowels seemed to be back to perfect health!

With his mood improved a bit, he changed into the uniform, only to discover it being just as baggy as his nightwear.

Nonetheless, he did exactly what he decided upon.

It might have had a lot to do with making sure that the story he heard from the deofol had any connection to reality…

If the Arch Deofol's story was real, Justin should have earned some respect from his classmates despite being a peasant.

Although that alone could be written off as a coincidence... the main point was that during the magic practice, Amelia's training partner's spell would misfire and she would hurt herself and a couple of other students. While the victims would be taken to the hospital wing by the leading teacher. The remaining students, guided by the assistant teacher, would have to pair up, and Amelia, despite her high social status, would end up with Justin, which would plant the seed of their future relationship.

That alone would supposedly be enough for Justin to begin to care for Amelia enough to challenge Rotsard for the second duel in defense of the peace of her daily life.

The stakes that should be decided upon if the deofol's story was true?

Rotsard never approaching Amelia again, against Justin quitting the Academy.

When Rosard was on his way, he passed the bloodied spot on the carpet with shards of glass still there and frowned.

His ex-butler didn't even have the decency to clean the mess which only cemented Rotsard's decision about firing him.

"..."

He clenched his fists, not realizing that his own wounds were already gone...
