Chapter 8 - Preparing for War

The days passed quickly, and soon, the time for the Church's attack was drawing near. Roland worked tirelessly to prepare for the coming battle.

He built more fortifications around Border Town, including a moat filled with water, a wall of stone, and a series of towers that could be used to shoot arrows at the enemy.

He also began to develop new weapons using magic. He worked with the sorceresses to create magical arrows that could explode on impact, magical shields that could protect the soldiers, and even a magical cannon that could fire balls of fire.

"These weapons will help us defeat the Church," Roland said, as he looked at the new cannon.

Carter nodded. "They are impressive, my lord. But we need to train the soldiers to use them."

Roland smiled. "We will."

Over the next few weeks, Roland trained his soldiers hard. He taught them how to use the new weapons, how to fight in formation, and how to work together as a team.

The soldiers learned quickly, and soon, they were ready for battle.

Roland also worked with the sorceresses to create powerful defensive spells. They created a barrier of magic around the town that could protect it from the Church's cannon, and they created spells that could heal the wounded, summon lightning, and create walls of fire.

"We are ready, my lord," said Anna, as she walked up to Roland one day.

Roland nodded, his eyes filled with determination. "Good."

He turned to look at the people of Border Town. They had gathered in the town square, waiting for his command.

"Today, we fight for our home," Roland said, his voice ringing out across the square. "We fight for our families, for our friends, and for the sorceresses who have come to us for protection."

The people cheered, their voices filled with determination.

"The Church has labeled us heretics," Roland continued. "They say we are evil, that we worship demons. But we know the truth. We know that sorceresses are not monsters. They are people, just like us. They have gifts, gifts that can be used to help others."

The people cheered again, their voices louder this time.

"Today, we will show the Church that we will not be intimidated," Roland said. "We will show them that we will fight for what is right, no matter what the cost."

The people cheered one last time, then turned to face the approaching army.

Roland walked up to the battlements of the castle, looking out at the horizon. He could see the Inquisition Army approaching, their banners flying in the wind.

"They are coming," said Carter, as he walked up to Roland.

Roland nodded, his eyes filled with determination. "Good."

He turned to look at the sorceresses, who stood beside him. "Are you ready?"

The sorceresses nodded, their eyes filled with determination.

"Then let's begin," Roland said.
