Chapter 45 - Battle of the Overlords

BOOM!

A green blur was kicked like a cannonball at extreme speed, smashing into the iron defense lines at the rear. The force of the impact was so great that the entire ground trembled!

The "Ultimate Ork" in their eyes had actually been sent flying by some zoggin' bug from nowhere? Every Greenskin who witnessed this felt their hearts tighten in a rare moment of collective anxiety.

Hiss, hiss, hiss—

Surveying its handiwork, the perpetrator—this grotesque Tyranid—let out a piercing, grating sound, seemingly mocking the Orks' futile resistance.

The creature's domineering frame stood nearly seven meters tall by visual estimate. Its red heavy armor, composed of dense chitin, was covered in jagged barbs. Each of its four thick arms gripped a blood-red Bone Sword, and the malevolent light gleaming from its murky yellow pupils was utterly terrifying.

With the arrival of this monster, the Tyranids, who had previously been on the backfoot, were revitalized with soaring morale. It held its blades high, backed by a boundless, shrieking ocean of bugs.

If Ghazghkull was the ultimate Ork, then this horrific beast was the strongest, most perfect warrior of the Tyranid race: the Swarmlord.

Every part of its body was designed by the [Hive Mind] to be perfectly suited for combat and slaughter, possessing its own independent consciousness. The Swarmlord is a legendary Tyranid bio-form created as a tactical response when standard strategies, physiological adaptations, and biochemical warfare fail.

Weighing nearly six tons and possessing terrifying combat skills, they are also formidable psykers. Their psychic screams can erase an opponent's will to fight and shatter the morale of entire armies. Even without using psionics, a Swarmlord can easily tear through reinforced concrete and plasteel like glass using raw physical strength.

Just moments ago, it had crippled Ghazghkull's power claw. The cunning bug had first severed the hydraulic lines, turning the claw into a heavy burden, then shattered the talons with its bone swords. The momentum of the blades had carried through, slamming into Ghazghkull's heavy armor; he had been too heavily damaged to react in time.

Swarmlords are rare, as the conditions for a Hive Ship to produce such a monster are extremely demanding. They are the kings of the swarm, the supreme monarchs.

While the Swarmlord's triumph should have been the ultimate morale booster for the bugs, a sudden, agonizingly shrill shriek pierced the sky—a sound so sharp it felt like it could slice through the atmosphere!

It came from beneath the battlefield of Orks and Tyranids.

SKREEE!

Just listening to it made one's heart skip a beat. What kind of pain could evoke such a harrowing wail?

A giant Tyranid bio-form, previously lurking underground, was now thrashing uncontrollably in unbearable agony. Its hundred-meter-long body twisted and coiled through the ruptured earth, rolling back and forth.

The damage caused by this titan-sized beast was catastrophic to friend and foe alike. While a few unlucky Greenskins were swallowed by the yawning chasms opening in the ground, the impact on the Tyranids was far greater. The seismic cracks swallowed groups of bugs into deep pits, only for them to be crushed into paste by the monster's thrashing bulk.

This was the creature that had swallowed Kenmyo's Gargant whole—a Mawloc, looking like a mixture of machinery and flesh, resembling a burrowing nightmare.

It had been specifically prepared by the [Hive Mind] as a "Warboss Killer" for Big Toof, but the Gargant was deemed a more high-value target. With its powerful bite and digestive juices dozens of times stronger than aqua regia, the [Hive Mind] assumed the "scrap metal" would be gone by now.

Yet at this moment, the convulsing titan's belly was distended like it was in the final stages of pregnancy, a massive lump bulging from its thick midsection. That was clearly the source of the agony.

This anomaly went far beyond the [Hive Mind's] predictions.

"Eat me, will ya? I'll give ya sumfin' ta eat!"

Inside the cockpit, the wipers on Kenmyo's screen were swiping frantically, clearing away the constant spray of ichor and shredded meat. He was currently wreaking havoc with the Gargant's power claw. Whether it was muscle, organs, or whatever else was nearby—he gave it all a proper krumpin'.

Expressionless, Kenmyo was using physical action to vent his frustration at being swallowed.

The Gargant's exterior was coated in a high concentration of green energy. Even the highly corrosive digestive fluids could not penetrate this shield; Kenmyo was siphoning the "Waaagh! field" from the Orks on the battlefield to protect his machine.

After venting his rage and sensing he had moved back toward the surface, Kenmyo retracted the power claw. From the mechanical arm, a massive, chainsaw-like weapon emerged—the [Mega-Choppa] he had the Mekboyz install earlier.

The moment he hit the switch, the motor roared with violent power. The chain began to spin at high speeds, slicing through the walls of flesh. The tip of the Mega-Choppa soon punched through the beast's hide, exposing it to the air.

This drove the Mawloc into a total frenzy, its body twisting and rolling across the ground.

Kenmyo had originally only intended to cut an exit, but he changed his mind. Using his other hand, he opened fire with his cannons into the internal tunnels ahead, clearing a path through the organs that hadn't yet been shredded.

Kenmyo began to drive the Gargant forward. As he "ran" through the beast's insides, the exposed Mega-Choppa acted like a zipper, carving a massive, jagged, open wound along the length of the monster's body.

The Orks outside watched in awe. The massive bulge in the beast's side moved rapidly from the tail toward the head, while the protruding blade sawed through flesh, sending fountains of blood spraying into the air. Corrosive digestive fluids spilled out from the gaping wound, melting the carapaces and killing the Tyranids unfortunate enough to be nearby.

Soon, the giant beast, completely disemboweled, lost the strength to scream. With a heavy THUD, it collapsed dead on the battlefield.

[War Contribution +100,000]

With a few loud clangs, the Gargant punched its way out of the beast's flank. Clad in disgusting ichor and bits of organ, Kenmyo tore free from the Tyranid tissue and stepped back onto the field.

At the same time, the Swarmlord—who had avoided the Mawloc earlier to stay out of its way—saw the scrap-metal walker emerge. It let out a roar and charged directly at Kenmyo's position.

Being targeted by the Swarmlord sent a jolt of primal fear through Kenmyo. It felt like being locked in the sights of an ancient, supreme predator. Through his monitors, he saw an ancient and powerful wisdom gleaming in the monster's eyes. Compared to that unblinking gaze, he felt like a newborn infant.

For the first time, Kenmyo felt true terror.

But before he could even open fire, a roar echoed across the plain:

"WAAAAAGH!!!"

The oncoming blood-colored blur was intercepted mid-charge. Another roaring green juggernaut slammed into it with the force of a landslide.

BOOM!!!

The Tyranids' greatest warrior—a six-ton mass of biological perfection—was sent flying hundreds of meters away by the tidal wave of force generated by the collision of red and green!

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka slammed his fists against his chest and let out an earth-shattering roar toward the sky:

"BUGEYE! YER SCRAP IS WIV ME!"
