Chapter 12 - Tang San Eats Humble Pie, Xiao Wu Challenges Again

Pfft!

Yang Yuan stood behind Xiao Chenyu and struck out with his palm.

With a dull thud, Xiao Chenyu was sent sprawling forward, crashing to the ground seven or eight meters away.

The people of the Seventh Dormitory stared at the scene in stunned silence, their faces full of shock.

The other two fights had not yet ended.

But after witnessing Yang Yuan's display of strength, Ling Feng and the tall senior lost all will to fight and were quickly subdued by Wang Sheng and Xiao Wu.

Only The people of the Seventh Dormitory were left standing on the field.

Yang Yuan walked up to Xiao Chenyu.

Though he lay on the ground, he hadn't fainted and was fully conscious.

Seeing Yang Yuan approach, he could already imagine the humiliation that would follow.

Yet the scene he imagined never happened.

Yang Yuan didn't mock him; he simply spoke calmly.

"Now, do you admit defeat?"

"We admit defeat, we surrender," Xiao Chenyu hurriedly replied.

"From now on, you're the boss of the entire Nuoding Academy."

Since Yang Yuan hadn't insulted him, Xiao Chenyu felt he'd already come out ahead—how could he dare act arrogant now?

Moreover, his father was the lord of Nuoding City, so he'd grown up steeped in bureaucratic savvy.

Seeing Yang Yuan display such terrifying strength on his first day, Xiao Chenyu was eager to cling to this rising star.

With Xiao Chenyu capitulating, the others saw no reason to keep resisting and followed his lead in calling Yang Yuan boss.

Seeing this, The people of the Seventh Dormitory beamed with pride... Tang San returned to the dormitory.

Thanks to his teacher pointing out a cultivation path for Blue Silver Grass, he was in an excellent mood.

Though the theory of adding a poison-attribute spirit ring to Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul felt a bit odd,

his teacher had said the continent was full of plant Spirit Beasts with poison attributes.

If other plant Spirit Beasts could be poisonous,

why couldn't the highly adaptable Blue Silver Grass?

A trash Spirit like Blue Silver Grass had no offensive power without a poison-attribute spirit ring.

Tang San found his teacher's reasoning impeccable.

Besides, he'd grown up around poisons in his past life and felt naturally close to them.

Moments later, Yang Yuan pushed open the door, leading the Seventh Dormitory crowd inside.

Seeing everyone's beaming smiles, Tang San instantly knew they'd won the duel against Xiao Chenyu's senior group.

He wasn't surprised.

Given Yang Yuan's strength, controlling the whole situation had been inevitable.

Xiao Wu greeted Tang San proactively.

"Tang San, you're back."

"You missed out big-time by not coming to the back hills with us today."

"Do you know how awesome we were? Now everyone outside calls me Sister Xiao Wu."

"Hahahaha!"

She planted her hands on her hips and laughed triumphantly, the two black eyes she sported making the scene downright comical.

Tang San smiled faintly when she spoke to him.

His teacher was right—Wang Sheng and the rest were just passing acquaintances.

Only geniuses like Xiao Wu and Yang Yuan qualified as his true friends.

He replied with a chuckle, "What a pity."

Then he glanced at her still-empty bunk and asked with concern,

"Xiao Wu, you still haven't bought bedding?"

"Why not use mine for tonight? You can return it once you get your own."

He pointed to the quilt his teacher had given him.

Though his teacher had urged him to get along with both Yang Yuan and Xiao Wu,

between the two he clearly preferred Xiao Wu.

She was so innocent and adorable,

whereas Yang Yuan, though talented, was scheming and opportunistic.

Unlike himself—pure, upright, and honorable.

Even knowing Yang Yuan's character flaws, he was still willing to befriend him.

Xiao Wu declared proudly, "No need—someone's bringing me bedding soon."

Tang San blinked. "Your family?"

She shook her head smugly.

"Nope. My new underlings heard Sister Xiao Wu needed bedding and insisted on buying me a new set."

During the afternoon showdown at the back hills, Xiao Wu had displayed formidable strength and was now the academy's second most influential figure.

"I see." Tang San nodded, a flash of regret in his eyes.

If he could lend her his bedding, he'd surely grow closer to her quickly.

He turned to Yang Yuan, eyes blazing.

"Yang Yuan, tomorrow the teacher will take me to get my spirit ring. When I return, we'll fight again."

Clearly, losing last time still gnawed at him.

Yang Yuan had used his Martial Soul, whereas his Blue Silver Grass was a trash Spirit with no combat power.

Fortunately, his teacher said that after absorbing his first spirit ring, his Spirit would transform.

When that happened, he would definitely beat Yang Yuan.

The Seventh Dormitory crowd gasped in shock and envy.

They hadn't expected Tang San to be heading for his first spirit ring so soon.

Truly worthy of Innate Full Spirit Power!

Yang Yuan only shook his head and sighed, answering a different question.

"Tang San, you won't even call me boss."

"Are you that dissatisfied with me as your boss?"

At that, the dormitory group—already annoyed by Tang San's behavior at the dining table—

now thought even less of him for being so uncooperative.

Tang San's face stiffened.

Combined age of over thirty, and he had to call a six-year-old boss?

How could he possibly say it?

But losing to Yang Yuan was an undeniable fact.

Under the stares of the dormitory crowd and Xiao Wu, Tang San's cheeks burned.

Reluctantly, he forced the word out.

"Boss!"

"Aye—" Yang Yuan grinned in reply.

He didn't care about being Tang San's boss; seeing Tang San's chagrined face was satisfaction enough.

And so the matter ended.

The next day arrived in a blink.

Tang San left the dormitory early in the morning.

After he left, Yang Yuan quietly opened his eyes, regret flickering within.

He'd wanted to try copying Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye.

Unfortunately, Tang San hadn't given him the chance and had left right after waking.

But Yang Yuan wasn't in a hurry—there'd be plenty of opportunities.

Sooner or later, he'd drain Tang San of everything he knew.

Once Tang San was gone, Xiao Wu also quickly found an excuse to leave.

Her reason, of course, was to condense her first spirit ring as soon as possible and reclaim her pride from Yang Yuan.

Though she seemed obedient on the surface, she yearned to overturn the hierarchy and trample Yang Yuan underfoot.

With both of them gone, Yang Yuan spent most of his time in the academy library.

Possessing double pupils, he could read ten lines at a glance and never forgot, his speed freakishly fast.

In just two days, he'd gone through every book in Nuoding Academy's library.

Still unsatisfied, he sneaked into Yu Xiaogang's dormitory.

Yu Xiaogang was a lousy person, but his room held plenty of books.

Most of the framework for his Ten Core Theories on Spirits came from the Spirit Hall library.

Aside from the nonsense he'd tacked on, the content was valuable and wide-ranging.

Yang Yuan gained quite a lot from rummaging through Yu Xiaogang's collection.

On the evening of the third day,

Xiao Wu returned to the academy first.

And the very first thing she did upon coming back... "Yang Yuan, I challenge you!"
