Chapter 8 - Chapter 7

After telling them the time to be back at Training Ground 7 tomorrow at seven in the morning, Kakashi vanished in a body flicker to report to the Hokage like the other Jonin.

Climbing in the office window, Kakashi waved at the gathered Jonin who were likely made to wait for him.

Kakashi lounged against the windowsill, his posture deceptively relaxed as he tuned out the low hum of Jonin reports. It wasn't until Hiruzen's gaze settled on him that he finally looked up.

"Team 7 passed," he stated simply. "Naruto was the first to see through the deception; he actually took the initiative to coordinate with the others. With Naruto providing an opening through sheer numbers and Sasuke maintaining a relentless offensive, Sakura found the gap and secured the bells. Their teamwork was good."

Hiruzen nodded, having watched the whole thing with his crystal ball, but wanting to see if he missed anything.

"Good, with enough polishing, Sasuke and Sakura should be ready for the upcoming Chunin Exams."

Hiruzen didn't mention Naruto, knowing from Kakashi's report and watching the boy through the ball, left Hiruzen little doubt about the blonde's strength and strategy.

After finishing the report, Kakashi left the way he came, jumping out the window and towards his with a few quick body flickers. Landing in his yard, Kakashi walked through his door and saw Naruto relaxing on the couch with a bowl of rice and grilled fish.

"Naruto, a moment."

Kakashi didn't speak again until he saw Naruto's full attention. With a simple tilt of his head, he led his student toward his room. Naruto followed, with a curious expression. Inside, Kakashi retrieved a box that hadn't seen the light of day in years. He wiped the grime from the wood with his thumb, the act almost a caress. He carefully lifted the Hiraishin Kunai from its velvet lining—a weapon far heavier and more complex than a standard blade. It was a relic of the Yellow Flash, given to Kakashi when he was barely older than Naruto was now.

"This was given to me by my sensei when I became a jonin."

Naruto's eye gleamed, having learned a lot about Kakashi's past over the last couple of years.

"The Fourth Hokage's kunai."

Kakashi nodded, fingers admiring the craftsmanship of the blade before he put it back in its box and handed it over to the confused Naruto.

"As his son, I'm now passing it on to you."

Kakashi watched Naruto clutch the box at the revelation.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Naruto asked, a little hurt that his sensei didn't think to tell him about his father until now.

Kakashi's eyes softened as he gestured to the weapon resting in the box.

"Minato-sensei once used these blades—the Flying Raijin—to dismantle an entire Iwa platoon in a heartbeat," Kakashi said, his voice carrying the weight of memories. "Your father was so lethal that enemy nations issued a standing flee-on-sight order. Any ninja who saw the Yellow Flash

was permitted to abandon their mission without penalty. To stay and fight him wasn't brave; it was a death sentence."

He turned his gaze from the blade to Naruto, searching the boy's face. "I had to be certain you were ready for the weight of that name. You've had the skills and strength for a while, but now that you're a true shinobi of the Leaf, I know that you will live up to and surpass him."

Stepping forward, Kakashi reached out and gave Naruto's spiky blonde hair a rough, affectionate ruffle. "He'd be proud of you, Naruto. And Kushina... she'd likely be hugging the life out of you right now."

Naruto nodded, realizing now why his sensei didn't say anything about his father yet. Naruto now knew that Kakashi had planned this, and he couldn't blame him one bit; he understood.

"Thank you, sensei."

Kakashi nodded but blinked in surprise when Naruto looked up into his eye and said something he didn't expect to hear this soon.

"I want to learn it.. The Flying Raijin. But I know I'd need to learn Fuinjutsu first. Can you teach me, sensei?"

Kakashi held his stare for a moment before eye-smiling.

"Of course, I'll teach you Fuinjutsu, and as for the Flying Raijin, we'll both learn that together."

Kakashi chuckled as Naruto's face lit up before he walked over to a drawer and plucked an unassuming scroll from the pile.

"This has the notes and Minato-sensei's breakthroughs with the Flying Raijin. He gave me this copy a couple of months after he became Hokage; if I'm not mistaken, he also gave a copy to his personal guard. We'll learn this technique together. With Minato-sensei's notes, we won't fall into the same mistakes he did. Now, create 20 shadow clones. 10 will be responsible for refining your calligraphy, and the other ten will be going through a theory class with a clone I make."

Naruto quickly made the clones, being directed to the calligraphy supplies as the other clones follow Kakashi's clone to a more spacious room to learn.

Sitting on the couch, Kakashi mentally went over the good rewards he had recently earned.

*Ding*

[Hidden Quest reward, reveal Naruto's parents early 2/2]

Reward: Yin/Yang Haki Bloodline

Description: Observation Haki: Allows you to perceive, feel, and predict. Ability has been strengthened by fusing with your sensing ability. Armament Haki: You can harden your skin, gaining an initial Susanoo-rib-cage level of defense. Conqueror's Haki: You can exert your will outward to suppress or incapacitate weaker enemies. This is just the starting power of each; how far you go depends on your efforts. Kaguya Otsutsuki is the progenitor of chakra, and Indra Otsutsuki is the progenitor of Ninjutsu. So, why can't you be the progenitor of Haki?

I'm the rookie of the year, believe it!

Reward: Naruto Uzumaki's talent in Senjutsu

Kakashi's lone eye widened before a warm feeling surged within him, his body changing to accept his apparent new Kekkei Genkai. The talent for senjutsu alone would've been great. Naruto in the series managed to master sage mode in two weeks after all, but to get a variant of Yin/Yang release was insane.

Feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment, Kakashi relaxed as his body continued to change to accept the new bloodline, thankful that he wasn't in agonizing pain, as that would be hard to explain to Naruto once his body had stopped.

The process of the change took an hour before Kakashi's body settled. Not only did his mind feel sharper, but his body felt sturdier, built to withstand much more. Focusing, Kakashi expanded his sensory ability, now Observation Haki, the range covering nearly half the village, and not only strength, but the emotions of every being in his range.

Kakashi sucked in a deep breath; this ability alone was insane, and he knew the other two would likely be the same.

Chapter End -

What do you think? I wanted to introduce at least an observation, but then an idea hit me, and I had to try it. Yin=Mental Yang=Physical. Which is perfect if you think about it. Observation could be considered a mental technique, but you apply it outside your body. Some users of Observation can generate a field of 'aura' around themselves to conceal or manipulate their presence. Armament Haki can increase attack power, coat weapons, and defense at its more basic mastery, but the advanced forms, like Internal Destruction, allow the user to bypass defenses and emit crushing power into the opponent. With Emission too, it's essentially a 'no touch' attack like Naruto's invisible sage punches. Conqueror's Haki, at its most basic mastery, can suppress and incapacitate. The advanced forms, however, are much more broken, being able to use them alongside the armament advanced forms as well, with abilities like Conqueror's Coating, and that technique Shanks used when he pulled up to Wano. A sort of advanced Conqueror's emission.
