Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Horse Thief

Jimmie woke up to the blaring air horn of a semi truck speeding down the highway. The bright sun scrunched his face into a goofy, squinty look as he sat himself up. For some reason he didn't realize he was on the side of the road until the cows behind him started mooing at him. He looked up the highway then back down the highway— his musty dang nowhere in sight, then it finally set in.

"Doggonit…" He groaned.

After getting to his feet and re-balancing himself, he started the long journey back to the city. Then the realization of the distance he had to walk kicked him in the ass.

"Dang it!" He started to scold himself. "I gotta walk all this damn way! What the heck was I thinking lettin' some random bitches in my car!? That's why I don't drink! That's why I don't do clubs! And that's why I don't do-"

Jimmie stopped and remembered the sack of Cinderella. He felt around in his pockets. He was surprised that he still had his wallet, his cellphone, and his drugs. He guessed they only wanted his car. He pulled out the sack. There was still some left. He looked back up at his surroundings. Beyond the cows was a barn and near that barn was a handful of horses. He poured a bit of the Cinderella in his hand, snorts it, then comes up with a rip- snortin' idea that would get him home faster than a train robber runnin' from the law.

Jimmie jumped the short, wooden fence and ran across the field. The horses didn't startle when he approached them. He picked a nice brown horse with long, black hair and rubbed her or his neck.

"Don't worry, I just wanna borrow you for a bit, that's all," Jimmie whispers in the horses ear. "Horse's always find their way home, right?"

Jimmie jumps up on the horse, grabs the hair on the back of its neck then yaws and the horse takes off. Jimmie almost fell off after the horse jumped the fence, but he quickly regained his balance as the horse galloped down the highway. The cityscape of Vista Valley City was just ahead.
