Chapter 69 - Ning Feng and Namikaze Minato’s Cooperation — Wind Release: Taiji Rasengan

It seemed that Namikaze Minato had completely failed to anticipate just how quickly Ning Feng would master the Rasengan. For a long while, he couldn't even figure out what he should teach Ning Feng next.

Suddenly, Minato realized that sometimes, having a slightly less-gifted student was actually a good thing—at the very least, teachers like him wouldn't have to work so hard preparing lessons.

Looking at Ning Feng standing before him, Minato couldn't help but sigh.

"You little brat… your talent is just too outrageous. For a moment there, I honestly didn't even know what to teach you."

Then, as if a thought struck him, Minato quickly added, "But since you've already learned the Rasengan, that means you should be able to cooperate with your teacher now—working together to unleash even stronger ninjutsu!"

"Cooperate?"

Ning Feng was briefly stunned. Then he remembered that highly coordinated ninja pairs often developed powerful joint techniques to defeat formidable enemies.

Like the Ino–Shika–Chō combination, or Kumogakure's famous A–B duo.

Minato bringing this up was likely because there would be many opportunities for the two of them to carry out missions together in the future. By cooperating, they could research and create a powerful new technique to eliminate powerful foes.

"Yes—cooperation."

"When I carried out missions with my teammates in the past, we developed quite a few coordinated tactics and joint ninjutsu."

"You now possess both the Flying Thunder God Technique and the Rasengan. That makes you the perfect partner to work with me—so we can achieve an effect where one plus one is greater than three!"

Minato thought for a moment.

Back then, he had tried finding others to cooperate with him, but unfortunately, none of the ninja around him could even learn the Flying Thunder God, let alone keep up with anything else.

"Then let's give it a try, Teacher."

Ning Feng felt a surge of anticipation.

If that happened, Minato would rely on him even more in the future—making it all the easier for Minato to firmly secure his position as Hokage.

Minato nodded. After handing the intelligence scroll Ning Feng had brought back to the ANBU intelligence division, he led Ning Feng to a wide, open area.

"Peak, follow my lead!"

As Minato spoke, fierce winds began to surge. In an instant, a massive Rasengan formed in his palm.

Ning Feng didn't hold back either. A Rasengan immediately took shape in his own hand.

Though his Rasengan wasn't as large as Minato's, it was extremely condensed, faintly containing terrifying power—as if it could destroy anything in its path.

"When I first created the Rasengan, I had a vague feeling that if two experts used the Rasengan together, then once the two Rasengan merged, the resulting power would be absolutely terrifying."

"But back then, it was just a guess. Now that someone else has mastered the Rasengan, I can finally test that theory!"

As Minato spoke, he pushed the Rasengan in his palm toward the one in Ning Feng's hand.

At the instant the two violent vortices drew close, they seemed to merge together seamlessly. A Rasengan the size of a human head instantly formed, spinning at an incredible speed, even stirring up violent gusts of wind.

Compared to the palm-sized Rasengan each of them had before, this new one was many times larger.

"Hm?!"

Minato was shocked. He hadn't expected that just like this, they would create an entirely new ninjutsu.

"Wind Release: Taiji Rasengan?!"

Ning Feng froze for a moment.

Only then did he suddenly recall the movie from the original Naruto storyline. When Naruto fell into the Lost Tower and traveled back more than ten years, he encountered Namikaze Minato.

In the final battle against the ultimate boss, Anrokuzan, the two used the Rasengan together and created the S-rank technique: Taiji Rasengan, instantly killing an enemy capable of infinite resurrection.

The Taiji Rasengan they used back then was even more powerful than Naruto's later Wind Release: Rasengan Shuriken!

Ning Feng hadn't expected that the moment he and Minato cooperated, they would recreate such a terrifying technique.

"Taiji Rasengan… what a great name!"

Minato exclaimed.

"Indeed—I can feel the power of Yin and Yang Release within this Rasengan. Its destructive force feels hundreds of times greater than that of a normal Rasengan!"

Minato was stunned.

He had tried coordinating with other ninja countless times in the past, yet never once succeeded.

But with Ning Feng, it had worked on the very first try.

"Peak, try using this Taiji Rasengan!"

As Minato spoke, he transferred control and force into Ning Feng's palm.

At once, the enormous, rapidly spinning Taiji Rasengan landed in Ning Feng's hand. He then thrust it forward violently, sending it straight toward a massive, thick tree in the distance.

Wherever the Taiji Rasengan passed, the huge tree was instantly shredded into countless fragments. Using that tree as a triangular apex, the vast area behind it was pulverized in an instant, reduced to fine powder and leveled completely.

When the remaining force of the Taiji Rasengan finally dissipated, Ning Feng and Minato stared in shock.

Before them was an enormous crater.

"So… so strong!"

Ning Feng was shaken to the core.

To achieve an effect like this would normally require an enormous amount of chakra.

Yet he and Minato had only expended chakra equivalent to a single Rasengan…

Minato took a deep breath. The way he looked at Ning Feng now had completely changed.

If before, he had merely regarded Ning Feng as a student, then now—

Ning Feng was his most reliable right-hand man, someone who could multiply his combat power several times over.

In the future, even if they encountered powerful enemies, a single Taiji Rasengan unleashed with their level of coordination would be enough—no one could withstand it.

"Just as I thought—working with you really does create a one-plus-one-greater-than-three effect!"

Minato joked, "At this point, I almost want to call you my brother instead."

"Just now, our coordination was excellent, but true synergy still needs time to cultivate. Peak, let's keep going!"

In truth, the appearance of the Taiji Rasengan also greatly eased Minato's worries about the future—about the Nine-Tails' seal weakening during Kushina's childbirth and powerful enemies taking advantage of it.

With just this Taiji Rasengan alone, even if several Kage-level enemies showed up, they likely wouldn't stand a chance!

"Mm."

Ning Feng nodded.

He realized that while the two of them were forming the Taiji Rasengan, his own abilities were improving at a crazy pace.

Perhaps this was what it meant—

The closer you stood to a peerless expert, the closer you yourself came to becoming peerless.
