Chapter 2 - Peak

"Haanhhh!"

Jin gasped for oxygen as he felt suffocation building in his chest. He still could not figure out where he actually was. His lungs felt heavier as if he was under water, but he did not feel any wetness of water clinging to his clothes, it was more like he was falling.

That tightness in his chest, the lack of oxygen, lungs getting heavier, he is falling, but where exactly? He's afraid of opening his eyes. If he's falling at this speed, where he can't breathe properly, opening his eyes would be the most foolish thing to do, even if a small particle of dust is harmful right now.

He tightly wrapped both his hands around his body, along with his knees, hugging himself tightly. He knows if he is gonna fall on the ground or water, he's done for it. But if he was lucky, which rarely existed in his life, but still he clung to that tiny hope of 'If' he fell on something smooth, this position is perfect for landing safely.

After what felt like an eternity, Jin finally slammed onto a surface, but instead of getting crushed like a poo he expected, it didn't happen; instead, he smoothly stopped at some point after what felt like sinking onto something like a desert, but he felt cold like he was in a freezer.

"Looks like lady luck is on my side this time."

He smiled as he told himself out of habit, which he had because of being alone for a long time. He slowly moved, somehow able to stand. Just as he opened his eyes, he saw darkness. It was not something terrifying, but it was weird, like there was a wall around him.

He slowly moved his right arm as his fingers dug into the wall. It was cold at first, but when he felt his fingers getting wet, he realised.

'Snow?'

It is snow he immediately looks up as worries are etched on his face, and his fear grows more after what he witnesses. He saw light coming from up a hole where he landed, drilling a hole here. He was indeed lucky that he didn't get hit by a rock or ground.

'Lady luck, my ass, it would be better if I had died hitting the surface.'

Jin's thoughts aren't random if he is deep inside the snow, if the surface starts melting or falling, filling the hole Jin just drilled.

He would die of lack of oxygen and the crushing weight of snow. Slowly, little by little, no one to hear his screams since there's no way his voice would reach the surface, even if someone is outside, no one would hear it.

But there's nothing he could do, all he can do is wait for death, either that snow will crush him or the cold takes his life.

In that moment, Jin finally felt relief, not that he found a way get out of this mess. But this is the easiest way to say goodbye to the pathetic life he lived so far, it's not like he didn't try to take his life but he didn't have the guts to do that, but right now surrounded by cold snow he can die peacefully, even if it's the most suffocating way to die.

Jin sits on the cold ground as he hugs his knees once again, but this time it is different; he genuinely feels better after a long time.

As the memory of his past runs through his mind nothing good comes to mind that might give him a motive to live, but then he remembers these few moments he had realizing he's life isn't always bad still Jin pushes away these moments not wanting them to give him fuel to live again and regret later.

'That mirror melts way too fast, isn't it like a time limit before they melt?'

Jin shifted his thoughts towards the main reason he was in this situation. The mirror started appearing after the sun was hidden behind the circular object. At first, these door-shaped mirrors didn't do anything for one day, twenty-four hours to be exact, then they started melting, creating a portal that connects Earth with different worlds. But the mirror that takes Jin here didn't follow the twenty-four-hour rule, which isn't heard of, at least Jin never heard about it.

Suddenly Jin felt warm as the cold atmosphere started changing to warm. Jin looked up in surprise as he was hit by a sudden light, sunlight. Jin never seen the sun in his whole life; he only heard about it and saw it in pictures.

His eyes burned as he closed them, covering them with both his hands. After a while, when the cold completely vanished, Jin slowly opened his eyes. He kept his gaze on the ground at his feet slowly.

The snow surroundings had melted into water that was clinging to his feet. But it simply doesn't make sense where did all that water go? He would be drowning right now but isn't.

Slowly Jin lifted his head a little to enough to look his surroundings... He paused as his silver eyes took in the details of this planet. He saw a forest down there, green and shining under sunlight, making it look more beautiful, at least for Jin, who never seen light and forest.

Then slowly he looked up in the sky where he saw a blue sky unlike black he saw on earth every day and night. Jin was fazed by the beauty of nature, he never thought he would see something this beautiful in his life, not even once.

His messy black and white mixed hairs waved with the cold wind. It felt refreshing, breathing in the air of an unknown planet was far more refreshing than breathing in the air of Layer capital.

But where exactly is he standing? That question didn't last long as Jin already figured out his location. Jin was standing on the peak.
