Chapter 5 - The Butterfree That Attacked Humans

Everything has to be done step by step. Of course, Chen Mo never expected people to immediately rush out and start raising a Caterpie. When he said that earlier, he was merely planting a subtle psychological hint—that monsters can be raised—at just the right moment. Maybe someday, these very viewers would become the first humans to raise Pokémon.

Of course—

If some hotheaded idiot really went out and started raising a Caterpie, or some other Pokémon, right after watching this stream… then Chen Mo would only be able to say—

Well, good luck to them.

Thanks to the first round of popularization, the livestream's popularity surged once again. Compared to the start of the stream, it had jumped by a huge margin. The real-time viewer count had already exceeded ten thousand, and from time to time, enthusiastic viewers would toss out a wave of gifts.

Unable to resist the audience's enthusiasm, Chen Mo went on to explain a bit more about Butterfree, which Metapod evolved into, all while leisurely heading deeper into Hongjing Slope Forest Park.

At the same time—

Anping City Central Hospital.

"Let people raise butterfly demons? That idiot streamer is basically trying to get people killed!"

Lying on a hospital bed, his body wrapped in bandages, his right arm in a cast and his left hand fixed in a brace, a short-haired young man stared at his phone as he listened to Chen Mo's words. His expression instantly twisted with rage—rage laced with an inescapable, deep-seated fear.

From Chen Mo's description, he was already certain of one thing.

The so-called Butterfree was exactly the same creature as the butterfly demons he had encountered in the wild.

Recalling what had happened that day, the young man's body began trembling uncontrollably.

His name was Ah Hui, an avid camping enthusiast.

In the past, Ah Hui would organize camping trips with friends every couple of weeks, visiting various wilderness spots around the country.

But after Pokémon descended upon the world, his few remaining hobbies were forcibly put on hold.

Coming from a well-off family and not needing to work, Ah Hui spent his days cooped up at home—until one day, he received another invitation from his friends.

Having been unable to camp for so long, and with his restless heart barely contained, Ah Hui happily agreed. They set a meeting place and set off with their gear the very next day.

What none of them expected was that this camping trip would become the start of a nightmare.

That's right.

They were attacked by wild Butterfree.

In the end, although the entire camping group survived by sheer luck, many were seriously injured. Some suffered wounds so severe that they were left permanently disabled.

As for the injuries covering Ah Hui's body now—they were all from that incident.

"Such a vicious bunch of monsters, and this streamer is actually praising them as beginner-friendly to raise? This isn't popularization—this is straight-up harming people!"

After thinking it over, Ah Hui felt he had to do something.

Keyboard, come!

"Damn, that was close. Didn't expect to run into that guy again."

Chen Mo hid behind a rock, watching the clouds of dust rolling up in the distance.

He didn't know whether to call it bad luck or good luck. For the rest of the time, he didn't encounter any new Pokémon—instead, he ran into a Rhyhorn.

[Hahahaha, I was just wondering why the streamer suddenly hid. So he ran into that same monster from last time again.]

[The streamer moved so fast—looks like he's got trauma already.]

[Impressive skills, young hero.]

"I'm sure the longtime viewers in the stream aren't unfamiliar with what just ran past. Its name is Rhyhorn. It's a Pokémon with a very simple mind—so simple that it can usually only remember one thing at a time."

"When Rhyhorn encounters something unpleasant in life, it has a very special way of dealing with it."

"That is—running."

"Once a Rhyhorn starts running, it quickly forgets whatever upset it before. Sometimes, it even forgets why it started running in the first place. Isn't that interesting?"

Looking into the camera, Chen Mo continued calmly.

"Although most Pokémon are relatively friendly—and the timid ones will even actively avoid humans—if you encounter a Rhyhorn in the wild, my advice is to stay as far away from it as possible."

"If you really can't avoid it, like what just happened to me, don't panic. When Rhyhorn runs, it usually charges in a straight line. Just avoid its path and find somewhere to hide."

"Absolutely do not think about confronting a Rhyhorn head-on. The hardness of the bones in its body is over a thousand times that of a human's. When it goes wild, it can even smash through an entire building—let alone fragile flesh-and-blood people like us."

After watching the Rhyhorn disappear into the distance and confirming that the area was safe, Chen Mo finally stepped out from behind the rock.

All that back and forth had wasted quite a bit of time.

Chen Mo looked up. Through the dense interweaving branches, golden sunlight filtered down through tender green leaves, falling across his face.

"About time. I should find somewhere to eat."

He'd gotten up early for today's stream and walked all morning. By now, most of his energy had been spent, and it was the perfect time to grab lunch.

After all, he wasn't a wilderness survival streamer—there was no need to push himself that hard.

Just as Chen Mo was about to follow the pebble path under his feet to see if there was a suitable place nearby to eat, a message in the livestream caught his attention.

[Everyone, don't believe this streamer's nonsense about raising Butterfree. All that talk about them being gentle and suitable for beginners is fake—completely fake! This streamer is just pretending to know what he's talking about. I've personally seen Butterfree, and I've even had close contact with them. And the result? I'm still lying in a hospital bed right now!]

Such a long message—on top of being a paid highlighted comment that stayed pinned—made it impossible for Chen Mo not to notice it.

"This viewer named 'HowIsThatAHui,' if you were really attacked by Butterfree, you can describe what happened. I have some time right now, so I can analyze it for you."

Chen Mo waited for a long time, but aside from that single highlighted comment, there was no further response.

Since the livestream's chat was extremely active, Chen Mo considered the possibility that the other party might have sent a normal comment that got buried. So he specifically reminded them that they could send a private message instead—it would be easier for him to find.

Ten minutes later.

Having received nothing, Chen Mo shook his head helplessly, assuming the person was probably just there to cause trouble.

But before he could take more than a few steps, another highlighted message popped up.

[Analyze my ass. You just want to fool me with your sweet talk, don't you? Heh. Monsters are monsters. No matter how well you talk, the injuries all over my body prove that they're vicious beasts that deserve to die forever!]

"Oh?"

Chen Mo narrowed his eyes slightly.

"This viewer 'HowIsThatAHui,' I'm becoming more and more curious about what exactly Butterfree did to you. If you don't mind, I'd be happy to hear the full story."
