Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

With the expression of a toad seeing the sky outside the well for the first time, Uvogin examined the strange machine before him, his face filled with shock and uncertainty.

Machi, standing beside him, did not speak, but she was also staring intently at the machine.

"This is the glutinous rice cake machine."

Moge, who had completed the invention, could not help but clap his hands lightly and speak in a low voice.

"Didn't you want to eat mochi? So I invented this machine."

Invention: Glutinous Rice Cake Machine.

Source: Doraemon World — Future Technology Company.

Many of the tools in the Doraemon world were invented by the Future Technology Company and famous doctors.

And, as was well known, anything that could be sold on the outside market was within a controllable and stable range.

"Invention? You call a situation where a machine suddenly appears… an invention??"

Uvogin's eyes bulged.

He was not completely ignorant.

He understood the meaning of the word "invention."

But—he certainly did not know that "invention" could refer to the current situation!!

"Don't worry about the details."

Moge waved his hand casually.

"The important thing is that we have mochi to eat, isn't it?"

"You're right…"

Uvogin nodded subconsciously, then paused.

This sudden act of invention completely exceeded his capacity for thought, leaving him unsure how to categorize it.

He subconsciously looked toward Machi and found that she was still staring straight at the glutinous rice cake machine.

Hmm, since the other party had produced this machine, there was indeed no need to worry about other motives.

Because Uvogin could clearly sense that after the machine appeared, the boy seemed to have become somewhat weaker.

"So how does this thing make mochi?"

Uvogin's large hand patted the manufacturing machine, producing a dull metallic sound.

"Mochi, of course, is made using sticky rice."

Moge glanced at him strangely.

"So, this useless contraption still can't conjure mochi out of thin air, can it?"

In Uvogin's eyes, the value of the glutinous rice cake machine instantly dropped to the level of scrap metal.

"I don't know what kind of machine it is outside, but if it still requires sticky rice…"

Uvogin carefully sized up the machine.

"Forget sticky rice, we don't even have rotten rice husks here."

"However, if we take it apart, this scrap iron might be able to fetch a good price."

A trace of eagerness appeared in Uvogin's eyes.

This unusual gain immediately lifted his mood.

He even turned back with interest.

"How about it? After we sell it, I'll give you a share of the earnings… Huh??"

He froze slightly when he noticed the object that had suddenly appeared in Moge's hand.

"What are these things now?!"

"Things for planting sticky rice."

"…You invented those too?"

"Of course."

Moge answered naturally.

"If we lack sticky rice, we can't make mochi, so naturally, we have to plant it first."

Planting sticky rice…?

Uvogin felt that hearing such words in Meteor City sounded completely out of place no matter how he listened to them.

Was 'planting' even a concept in a place like Meteor City?!

Furthermore, didn't planting these things take an extremely long time?!

"Why are you standing there stunned? Hurry up and plant the rice!"

Moge casually tossed the long green capsule toward Uvogin.

The latter fumbled and barely caught it.

"This is called the Seedlings-in-Capsule. Inside are the materials for planting rice."

Moge explained before Uvogin could ask.

Then he took out a small green tube.

He gently pulled the cord at the bottom.

Whoosh~~~ Bang!

A fiery red artificial light rose and bloomed.

Under the watchful eyes of Uvogin and Machi, it gradually formed into a miniature sun.

This was the "Indoor Sun" used to promote seedling growth.

Perhaps because this was his first major invention, besides the glutinous rice cake machine, many supplementary tools were also created and included as bonus gifts~!

Pop~

Under their bewildered gazes, Moge then took out the "Cloud in a Bottle" and immediately opened the cap.

Dense mist instantly spread through the room.

And the most important ones~~~

"The Cloud Scarecrow, and…"

Moge spread a layer of damp farmland blueprints across the floor.

"The Super Miniature Rice Paddy."

Even fertilizer had already been prepared inside.

"That completes the preliminary preparations~~~"

Moge wiped the sweat from his face, feeling slightly relieved.

Inventing so many tools at once was somewhat unexpected and caused a significant drain on his aura.

But after thinking about it carefully, he understood the reason.

Uvogin's request was for "food mochi."

And the things he invented were not machines that could directly conjure mochi out of thin air.

It required him to personally plant and cultivate the sticky rice, and then put it into the manufacturing machine to obtain the mochi.

The addition of so many tedious steps allowed him to bear the consumption of multiple inventions.

"In other words, if an invention directly achieves the goal, the consumption is greater…"

"But if it requires manual labor in between, the consumption is slightly reduced~~~"

Moge gained a deeper understanding of his own ability.

"Even so, the consumption is still not low. I still have to figure out a way to use 'Vows and Limitations' to reduce it…"

While he was thinking, his movements did not slow at all.

After spreading out the fertile field, Moge glanced at Uvogin and Machi, who were still standing there in a daze.

"What are you standing there for?! Hurry up and plant the seedlings!!"

Uvogin: "???"

Before he could react, Moge walked up and opened the Seedlings-in-Capsule in his hand.

He divided the seedlings into three portions and handed two portions to Uvogin and Machi.

"Like this. Stick the seedlings into the mud."

Moge demonstrated first.

He rolled up his trousers, stepped into the muddy rice paddy, and carefully planted the seedlings.

Uvogin: "…"

He was really planting rice here and now?!

Was this kind of thing even possible in Meteor City?!

This completely contradicted Uvogin's long-standing law of survival, and it was the first time it had clashed so violently with his way of thinking.

Holding the tiny seedlings in his hand, which he could grasp easily, he did not know what to do.

"If you don't know, just follow her lead~~~"

Moge immediately noticed his awkwardness and pointed toward Machi.

Machi?

Uvogin subconsciously looked at his inseparable companion.

He saw that Machi's slender figure had already stepped into the rice paddy.

Although her movements were clumsy and unfamiliar, she was carefully imitating Moge and planting the seedlings in a convincing manner.

Uvogin fell silent for a moment when he saw this.

Then he bared his teeth.

It was just planting seedlings, wasn't it?!

If this foolish boy and Machi could do it, why couldn't he, Uvogin the Great?!

Without further hesitation, he stepped forward and entered the muddy field.

"You're too bulky, go plant over there."

"Be accurate! Don't let them lean everywhere!"

"There must be enough distance between them, otherwise they won't be able to grow properly later!!"
