Chapter 3 - Origin

Three days later.

Looking at Nitaru, who was still unconscious, Xiao Wu's mood became increasingly irritable, and a gloomy look lingered in his eyes.

Suddenly, a point of light appeared in front of him, and then rapidly enlarged.

"It's finally here," he murmured.

...

Deep within the world of Ninja lies a mysterious forest, perpetually shrouded in thick fog that can cause people to lose their way without even realizing it.

Because legend has it that many terrifying monsters and dangers exist there, the nearby villagers also call it the Forest of Death.

Some say they have encountered powerful demons that devour people without spitting out the bones. They are incredibly ferocious and can easily tear human bodies apart. Once someone steps into their territory, even a powerful Ninja will be easily torn to shreds.

Some say they have encountered immortals who heal wounds and bestow power upon people. These immortals possess magical powers that can grant people extraordinary strength and wisdom. However, finding these immortals is no easy task and requires overcoming countless hardships and obstacles.

And the one who started all of this slowly opened his eyes.

"I slept so well. Also, let me see who's disturbing my sleep."

"Let me look for it, hey, here it is!"

The cave where Xiao Wu and his friends were hiding was slowly revealed in the water mirror.

The figure of the World Consciousness emerged from the water mirror, transforming into an appearance similar in age to Xiao Wu and the others, with white hair and blue eyes, except that his clothes looked like they were from hundreds of years ago, and his whole body radiated a dazzling light.

Xiao Wu felt a powerful pressure and released his own domain to fight against it.

He began, "So you've used powers that don't belong to this world? Do you know that this could have catastrophic consequences?"

His brows were furrowed, and his eyes flashed with anger.

"If you can't give me a reasonable explanation, then don't blame me for being impolite."

Xiao Wu understood perfectly well that energy exceeding the world's capacity would inevitably cause irreversible consequences for the world.

But at this moment, I have no choice but to pretend to be calm.

"It's just forcibly summoning a few ordinary undead, and I've already returned to normal, so it won't cause any other effects."

Xiao Wu is quite confident in his senses.

"But your power is a pollution to this world. Although it didn't dissipate this time, you can't guarantee it won't in the future,"

"No, I still have to keep an eye on you!"

His brow was furrowed, as if he were considering the feasibility of the plan.

He pointed at Xiao Wu, and a ball of light entered his body.

"This can pinpoint your location and limit the polluting energy within your body."

"Alright, now we can have a proper chat."

He withdrew his oppressive aura and looked at Xiao Wu, who was already slightly sweating.

"By the way, what brings you here? As far as I know, no outsiders have been here for many years."

Last time, it was that awful woman who planted the tree, absorbing a lot of my energy and delaying my transformation into human form by several hundred years. Just thinking about it makes me angry.

"If I hadn't been so weak back then, I would have torn him to pieces!"

His tone betrayed an unconcealable resentment.

"So, what is your purpose in coming here?"

Xiao Wu lowered his hand from Jade Pendant, glanced at the World Spirit, and then slowly said.

"We come from a very far place. As for our purpose, to put it simply, it is to rebuild the connection between the 'dwelling places of the soul'."

"You can actually feel it too, right? The negative energy of this world is constantly weakening. If this continues, the balance will be broken. You'll need our help." Xiao Wu said, patting the world spirit on the shoulder.

This kid really thinks I can't see it, huh? That Jade Pendant's energy could blow up the entire planet.

Now, we have no choice but to go along with him.

"It seems that's indeed the case."

"But are you really that kind?" He frowned slightly.

"Alright, after it's all done, there is indeed a small favor I need your help with, which can be considered an exchange of benefits."

"Besides, if we don't help you, you won't let us go, will you? We're in this together now."

Xiao Wu said with a smile, then squeezed the jade pendant in his hand again.

What he said was indeed true. Although I don't know how he knew that things were not peaceful in the Pure Land, I should cooperate with him for now, World Spirit thought.

"Okay, now let's exchange some information."

A flash of white light, and they were back in the Forest of Death.

"This is my home, it's safe here." Although they felt that those little Ninjas couldn't really harm them.

Xiao Wu was still holding Nitaru tightly in his arms.

"Put him on that bed over there. He'll wake up after he's absorbed the disordered energy in his body."

"Don't worry, if I wanted to deal with you two, I would have done it long ago. Would you two still be alive now?" As he spoke, he made a relatively fierce expression, though it wasn't very intimidating and seemed more like he was being cute.

"So, you two, how are you going to make up for waking me up?!"

"Hey, um, I have some candy here, want some? It's strawberry flavored." Xiao Wu's face was full of embarrassment, and he was a little at a loss.

The candy was snatched away and put into his mouth.

"Emmm, it's alright, are there any other flavors?" He looked disgusted, but his tone carried a hint of anticipation.

Xiao Wu paused for a moment, then took out dozens of cans of lollipops of different flavors from his spatial ring.

"Okay, I'll forgive your offense for now. Also, please stop calling me ' world spirit ' in your mind. It really sounds awful."

Actually, I have a name. Call me 'Yan,' okay?' His tone suddenly became serious. If you remember my name wrong, I'll be very angry.

"Yes, yes, yes, esteemed Lord Yan." Xiao Wu smiled.

"Now can you tell me about the situation on the cathode side?"

"That place is called Pure Land. It's very desolate, and there's an old man with a strange temper there. Even I can't figure him out." As she said this, Yan's mood calmed down.

"After a person dies, their soul is separated from their body and goes to a pure land. Their memories are erased, and then they are reborn into the world. This has been the case since I first became conscious," he said with a sigh.

"But in recent centuries, the number of souls in the world has been decreasing, and we can no longer see the ghosts who work. Apart from that old man's bad temper, something must have happened over there."

After listening, Xiao Wu nodded and said, "I have some guesses, but I don't know if they are right. We need to investigate further before we can have a result. But right now, the most important thing is to wait for You to wake up."

He looked at You and said, "I'll tell you everything when you wake up."

"You two have a really good relationship." Yan waved her hand and walked towards another room.

"Then you guys rest first. Call me if you need anything. I live next door."
