**Chapter 6: Defeating Mirajane**
Mirajane's heart jumped with joy when she heard Kaito's words. She began gathering power, preparing to knock this bastard down in one strike.
"Boom!"
Mirajane stomped hard, shattering the ground beneath her feet. In an instant, she appeared right in front of Kaito and smashed her fist toward his nose.
"Bang!" Kaito's head exploded from the hit, and his body fell straight backward onto the ground.
"..."
The entire area fell silent. Everyone was stunned by the scene. Even Mirajane herself froze. She was angry, but she never intended to kill him. How could someone who had been so arrogant a moment ago be taken down so easily?
"Is he… dead?"
"The newcomer got killed by Mirajane!!"
Shocked cries filled the Fairy Tail guild. Mirajane panicked and shouted, "I… I only wanted to teach him a lesson! I didn't…"
At that moment, only Guild Master Makarov remained calm. He took two steps forward toward Kaito's "corpse" and said, "Stinky brat! Stop playing around. If you keep joking, I'll get angry."
The moment Makarov finished speaking, golden light began to scatter from Kaito's "body." It turned into countless glowing particles that dispersed, then quickly regrouped. When the light faded, Kaito stood there completely unharmed.
"What kind of magic is that?"
"He can turn his body into light?"
Makarov said, "Physical attacks have no effect on this stinky kid."
Mirajane finally realized she had been tricked. Her anger exploded. All that intense fighting earlier, and none of her attacks had actually worked on him.
"Whoosh!"
Black light gathered in Mirajane's hands as two dark energy spheres formed. She roared furiously, "Bastard! Go to hell!"
"Swoosh! Swoosh!" The dark energy blasts flew toward Kaito.
"Boom! Boom!"
The blasts exploded where Kaito had been standing. When the smoke cleared, two large craters were left in the ground, but Kaito had vanished.
"Damn it! Where did that bastard go?"
Lisanna suddenly shouted, "Sister! Behind you!"
Mirajane spun around instantly, but the moment she turned, a finger pressed against her forehead. Golden cross-shaped light glowed from the fingertip. Human survival instinct made Mirajane freeze completely. Cold sweat ran down her forehead.
Kaito smiled slightly at her, then moved his finger away and pointed it at the side of her head.
"Buzz~! Swoosh—!" A golden laser beam shot past Mirajane's cheek.
"BOOM!!!" A terrifying explosion erupted where the beam landed.
"Waaaaah!"
"Uwaaaaaah!"...
The ground shook violently from the blast. Many people screamed in fear.
Everyone stared in shock at the massive destruction caused by Kaito's attack, mouths wide open, eyes nearly popping out.
Kaito extended his hand toward Mirajane and said, "Alright, my name is Kaito. I'm now a mage of Fairy Tail. Nice to meet you."
Mirajane, still dazed, reached out and shook his hand. "My name is Mirajane. Nice to meet you."
Kaito walked over to Macao and held out his right hand. "Pay up!"
Macao quickly handed over 100,000 J. Kaito licked his fingertip, counted the bills carefully several times, then happily stuffed them into his pocket and walked back into the guild.
This was the first money he had earned in this world, and he was going to spend it properly. As for the original 10,000 J Makarov had lent him, he had already forgotten about it. In his mind, others always owed him—he never owed anyone.
Macao looked at Makarov in disbelief. "Guild Master, where did you find such a little monster? He's way too strong!"
The others nodded in agreement. They were all mages, and although Kaito's abilities looked simple, everyone could see how practical and powerful they were.
Makarov wore a proud expression. "Heh heh! If I weren't useful, how could I hand the guild over to the next generation?"
Of course he wouldn't admit that even as one of the Ten Wizard Saints, he had almost failed to catch Kaito earlier. He had barely managed to recruit the boy with his smooth talking.
"Stop talking nonsense and pay up!"
Macao's face twisted in pain. He had opened the betting pool just to make a little extra, but Makarov had bet 100,000 J on the newcomer. He had been happy at first, but now he wanted to cry.
At ten-to-one odds, that meant 1,000,000 J. It wasn't a fortune, but it was still a huge amount—enough for several high-difficulty jobs.
Macao slowly counted out the money. Makarov grew impatient, snatched the whole stack, and counted it himself. "Here's 500,000 J. You still owe me 500,000."
"Nooo! Guild Master! At least leave me some drinking money!" Macao wailed while hugging Makarov's leg.
"Hmph! This is what you get for slacking off and only drinking in the guild all day. I'll deduct the rest from your future job rewards! No drinking until it's paid off." Makarov turned and walked away cheerfully.
Recruiting such a powerful new member and winning a lot of money today—this was truly his lucky day. Makarov was in an excellent mood.
