The Silent Bell
It was raining in the city of Veridia, but the rain made no noise. In fact, nothing in Elias's neighborhood made noise anymore. The city had been struck by "The Hush," a strange phenomenon where random streets simply lost their sound.
Elias, a musician who had forgotten how to compose, was walking home when he saw it. Sandwiched between a bakery and a laundromat was a narrow door made of dark, polished oak. The sign above it didn't use ink; it used shimmering vibrations to spell out words: The Emporium of Echoes.
Curious, Elias pushed the door open. The bell above his head didn't ring, but he felt a vibration in his teeth—a pure C-sharp.
