Chapter 4 - Those Days in Hell's Kitchen

Night fell.

Chen Ye walked out of the Good Fortune Restaurant and hung up the "Open" sign.

"Good evening, Deadpool. Watch your territory, alright?" Chen Ye greeted Deadpool, the dog, who was lying on the right side of the door.

Deadpool rolled his eyes, very human-like, then stretched his paws and continued to lie there.

Chen Ye then looked around, at the clean streets, and nodded secretly.

Hell's Kitchen had always been a major feature of Marvel's New York, but it wasn't recommended for tourists.

It was best not to come here in your entire life unless it was necessary.

Because this place was practically the heart of evil, comparable to a watered-down version of Gotham City in the DC universe. It only had 25 blocks.

But the number of criminals here was no less than in Gotham City. Walking the streets of Hell's Kitchen, even in broad daylight, the best-case scenario was a young white junkie asking for money or weed, and the worst was a black guy in a hoodie pointing a weapon at you and asking to borrow money.

It was advisable to bring some cash into Hell's Kitchen. With cash, the residents of Hell's Kitchen would at most ask for your money. Without cash, they might take your life.

To put it jokingly, even God would have to pay a toll to visit Hell's Kitchen.

Where there were criminals, of course, there were heroes to punish them. In Marvel, there were Daredevil, Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Cage, among others.

Once upon a time, the nights in Hell's Kitchen were roamed by pimps, gangs, and all sorts of people from every walk of life. It was absolutely impossible for normal people to wander around Hell's Kitchen at night unless they didn't want to live anymore.

But in recent years, since Chen Ye took over the "Good Fortune Restaurant," the nights in Hell's Kitchen had become friendlier, at least on the street where the Good Fortune Restaurant was located.

Occasionally, you could see some defenseless normal people coming to eat there, although their numbers were not many.

This is a small action by Chen Ye as a variable, changing the Marvel Universe.

"Heh, after all, I'm not the protagonist. I haven't even conquered Hell's Kitchen yet. The Alien War is coming soon," Chen Ye shook his head, self-deprecatingly.

Chen Ye had been in the Marvel Universe for over twenty years. Unlike those predecessors who had transmigrated, he didn't possess his soul and immediately become the next Sorcerer Supreme in Kamar-Taj. Nor did he get an instant power-up after transmigrating and gain a Superman physique, beating up Thanos with his fists.

Chen Ye's previous life wasn't as unfortunate as other transmigrators either. He wasn't cheated on by a girlfriend, nor did his business fail. He didn't have any deep-seated hatred, nor was he assassinated like a special forces soldier.

His parents were still alive, and he had a cute little sister. His family was comfortably off, and he was a returnee from abroad.

He just fell asleep in a daze and was reborn into the Marvel Universe. He was reborn in Hell's Kitchen, at the very bottom of society as a Chinese-American.

If he could return to his previous life in America right now, he would be a buff stacker, at the very bottom of the bottom.

If it weren't for the plot, how could he, at his level, have such easy access to a high and mighty billionaire like Tony Stark?

Fortunately, Chen Ye wasn't one to complain. He just wanted to protect his own little corner of the world.

And, incidentally, change Hell's Kitchen. If possible in the future, he hoped to break the fourth wall and go back to see his parents from his previous life.

Thinking of this, Chen Ye made up his mind to first save Tony Stark and make a friend. Then, he'd see if Tony was interested in investing in Hell's Kitchen.

Later, he'd have a good chat with Uncle Kingpin, and get him to transform Hell's Kitchen alongside his underlings.

That's right, Kingpin was the big boss of Hell's Kitchen in Marvel, and a childhood friend of Chen Ye's dearly departed father. His father had sacrificed himself to protect Kingpin during a gang fight. Back then, Kingpin's body fat percentage hadn't even reached 3%.

Just as Chen Ye was thinking about these things, he didn't know that a pair of eyes were also watching him from across the way.

"The target shows no anomalies for now."

"Understood. I'll continue to observe." At this moment, a figure was observing Chen Ye from a building across the street from the restaurant.

The person was none other than Natasha, who should have left.

"Woof..." Deadpool interrupted Chen Ye's thoughts.

"Chen Ye, it seems like someone's watching us, and there are people on the other side too, and in other places as well. It's not just one person, and one of them smells familiar, like the person who came this afternoon," Deadpool said.

After hearing Deadpool's words, Chen Ye frowned, then sneered. He didn't say anything and turned back to the restaurant.

In his previous life, Chen Ye had no good feelings towards S.H.I.E.L.D., which always monitored people. It sounded good to say it was for world peace, but in reality, it was just a strong desire for control, wanting to keep everything under surveillance.

The main thing was that many problems were caused by S.H.I.E.L.D. And most importantly, the various S.H.I.E.L.D. agents acted like they were something special. Chen Ye wasn't the type to be blinded by lust. Even if Black Widow was beautiful, they still casually started monitoring the good citizens of Hell's Kitchen.

Chen Ye was really disappointed. He had just connected with Tony Stark, and immediately someone came to monitor him. Now it was monitoring; what would be next, pretending to be the FBI and arbitrarily finding a trumped-up charge to arrest him?

If they really took any action, Chen Ye wouldn't mind letting them experience the warm hospitality of Hell's Kitchen.

Slowly, more people began to appear on the street, and people continued to enter the Good Fortune Restaurant. Residents from the surrounding area were also strolling on the street.

Natasha looked at the bustling street in front of her and couldn't help but sigh:

"If I didn't know for sure that I was actually in Hell's Kitchen, I really couldn't believe that this street was so safe and quiet. This street looks like an ordinary residential community."

In a normal Hell's Kitchen, there were very few pedestrians on the road after eight o'clock, a sight that was impossible to see in other districts of Hell's Kitchen.

She could feel that the tranquility of this street was definitely related to the owner of the "Good Fortune" Restaurant she saw this afternoon.

Almost everyone would slow down when passing the restaurant's door and greet the dog lying there, "Hi, Wilson."

She found this very interesting and didn't expect that the undercover Tony Stark would encounter a pleasant surprise.

"Keep a close eye, Natasha. See what methods they're using to find Tony Stark."

We still need some time to find Tony Stark.

This guy, Chen Ye, has two mutants around him, which is dangerous. According to the information, he's also a bit of a racist, damn it. We can use whatever means necessary if required.

I'll send two more teams over to monitor the situation.

Your primary mission is still to keep an eye on Tony Stark. He's a very important piece of my plan.

Leave the rest to the other agents.

"A hoarse voice came from Natasha's earpiece.

"No problem, Director." The voice in the earpiece belonged to Marvel's Nick Fury.
