Chapter 8 - 8: Jealousy And Fire

Jealousy and Fire

Kai woke to the sound of his phone buzzing incessantly.

Another message from Lucien:

Unknown: Meeting tonight. Be ready.

Kai groaned. "He's relentless."

Leo shook his head. "You can't keep running."

Kai ignored him.

That evening, Kai arrived at a rooftop bar. The city sprawled beneath him like a glittering sea.

Lucien stood at the edge, crimson eyes scanning the crowd until they landed on Kai.

"You came," Lucien said softly.

Kai folded his arms. "You're going to wear me out."

Lucien smirked. "Only if you let me."

Kai tried to keep his composure. He noticed a man approach Lucien—a handsome executive laughing too closely, too comfortably.

Lucien's gaze sharpened. Red flared in his eyes.

Kai froze. Jealousy radiated off him in waves.

Lucien's hand brushed against Kai's as he stepped closer. "You see him?"

Kai nodded. "Yeah."

Lucien's grip tightened. "He's nothing. Do you understand?"

Kai felt heat rise to his cheeks. "I—yes."

Lucien leaned down, whispering into Kai's ear, voice low and possessive. "No one touches what belongs to me."

Kai shivered. Heart racing, pulse hammering.

The night stretched long with unspoken tension, sharp words, teasing glances, and the dangerous thrill of Lucien's obsession.

By the time Kai left, he knew one thing:

He was trapped. And he didn't entirely want to escape.
