Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – Hiratsuka Shizuka

Hiratsuka Shizuka, the life guidance teacher of Class 1–F—also known as the homeroom teacher.

She taught Japanese literature. Beautiful, well-proportioned, and in terms of looks alone, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she was an upgraded version of Yukinoshita Yukino.

She even drove a sports car in her daily life—a hidden rich woman.

Perhaps precisely because she was too outstanding, at twenty-six years old, she was still single.

As for whether that had anything to do with her violent, somewhat middle-aged-man-like personality… that was anyone's guess.

Because she was good friends with Yukinoshita Haruno, and because Hiratsuka Shizuka herself genuinely cared about her students—

When Haruno asked her to look after Yukinoshita Yukino a little more, she complied.

For example, she had used a bit of physical persuasion to secure a room for Yukinoshita Yukino and let her establish the Service Club.

Today, Hiratsuka Shizuka heard from students that—

During P.E. class in the afternoon, Yukinoshita Yukino had played a tennis match against a girl from another class named Kawasaki Saki.

This left her deeply puzzled.

How did Yukinoshita Yukino end up playing sports with someone else?

Was that Kawasaki Saki girl annoyed with Yukinoshita and challenged her?

Or had the two of them somehow become friends?

Unable to make sense of it, Hiratsuka Shizuka decided to go ask Yukinoshita Yukino directly.

Arriving at the Service Club door, she was about to push it open like usual—

But faintly, she heard voices coming from inside.

[Someone else is in the Service Club?]

With that thought, Hiratsuka Shizuka stopped her hand mid-motion and listened carefully.

She heard Yukinoshita Yukino speaking with a voice that was clearly male.

Yukinoshita Yukino's cool, sharp voice rang out:

"Tanaka-kun, this won't do. Look at how weak and limp you are—stand up properly."

The boy's voice sounded breathless, utterly exhausted.

"I'm gonna die~ Yukinoshita-san, please… let me rest a bit."

"Heh. Rest? You've got the nerve to say that?

You used underhanded schemes to make me fight someone else, spent an entire class playing tennis, and you looked pretty happy about it, didn't you?"

"I was wrong—please forgive me."

"I will. Once your stamina is completely drained, I'll let it go."

Hiratsuka Shizuka pressed herself against the door, listening to the conversation inside.

Because the door muffled the sound, she could only catch fragmented words.

But even from that alone—

She felt like she couldn't listen anymore.

This was a sacred classroom—a club room she had personally secured for Yukinoshita Yukino.

It was not meant for doing that kind of thing.

More importantly—

She herself was still a virgin.

Why did someone as emotionally distant as Yukinoshita Yukino get to be so far ahead of her?!

Hiratsuka Shizuka stopped caring about details, shoved the door open with force, and shouted:

"What are you two doing?!"

When she finally saw what was actually happening inside—

She realized reality was different from what she imagined.

But somehow, that only made things more confusing.

In the center of the room stood a somewhat chubby boy, half-squatting, with two chairs hanging from his arms, looking utterly bizarre.

Meanwhile, Yukinoshita Yukino sat calmly to the side, smiling gently as she watched him.

"…What are you doing?"

Her furious tone instantly shifted into pure confusion.

Seeing Hiratsuka Shizuka suddenly barge in, Yukinoshita Yukino frowned slightly, displeased.

"Hiratsuka-sensei, I believe I've told you before—you should knock before entering."

"No—forget that for now."

Hiratsuka Shizuka smoothly skipped over the topic and pointed at Tanaka Masao.

"What are you doing to him?"

Yukinoshita Yukino replied calmly:

"Isn't it obvious?"

"Obvious?"

Hiratsuka Shizuka looked at Tanaka Masao, then at Yukinoshita Yukino, pinched her chin, and hesitantly asked:

"…Are you playing some kind of punishment game?"

She phrased it delicately—but the implication was obvious.

Yukinoshita Yukino shot her a cold glare.

"Hiratsuka-sensei, I didn't expect you to have thoughts like that too. Is that what happens when you've been single for too long?"

Critical hit: keyword triggered — Single.

Hiratsuka Shizuka clenched her teeth.

If Yukinoshita Yukino weren't so physically delicate, she would've punched her on the spot.

"Then explain it. What are you doing?"

Facing Hiratsuka Shizuka's anger, Yukinoshita Yukino showed no fear and answered calmly:

"Of course, we're carrying out Service Club activities. I accepted this Tanaka-kun's request and am currently helping him lose weight."

"Weight-loss request?"

Hiratsuka Shizuka pondered that.

It sounded strange—but not impossible.

She turned to Tanaka Masao, curiosity in her eyes.

"So you're the one who made the request? Which class are you from, and what's your name?"

Hearing her ask, Tanaka Masao felt like he'd been saved.

He immediately tried to lower his arms—

But just as they started to drop, Yukinoshita Yukino's icy voice rang out:

"Tanaka-kun. I haven't said you're allowed to lower your arms yet."

Tanaka Masao's arms snapped straight again.

"H-Hiratsuka-sensei, I'm Tanaka Masao from Class 1–D."

"Class 1–D…"

Hearing that familiar class—and recalling Yukinoshita Yukino's earlier behavior—

Yukinoshita Yukino might be cold, but she wasn't the type to torment someone without reason.

Combined with Tanaka Masao's expression of deep remorse, Hiratsuka Shizuka quickly reached a conclusion.

With an amused grin, she asked:

"So… today's tennis showdown involving Yukinoshita—was that your doing?"

Tanaka Masao glanced at Yukinoshita Yukino and thought bitterly:

[I messed up. Why can everyone figure out it was me?]

Since he was already exposed, he could only nod helplessly.

Upon confirmation, Hiratsuka Shizuka's expression became wonderfully animated.

She burst out laughing, slapped Tanaka Masao on the shoulder, and praised him:

"Tanaka, right? You've got guts. Actually plotting against Yukinoshita Yukino."

Already barely holding on, Tanaka Masao's arms finally collapsed from the impact.

Yukinoshita Yukino looked at the laughing Hiratsuka Shizuka and spoke flatly:

"Hiratsuka-sensei, please don't interfere with my ongoing request."

Hiratsuka Shizuka scratched her head.

"Oh, right. You've got a request."

She pulled over a chair, sat down with her legs crossed, and said casually:

"I'm the Service Club's supervising teacher. It's fine if I observe the club activities, right?"

Yukinoshita Yukino glanced at her, didn't chase her away, and simply said:

"Do as you like."

Then she turned to the nearly lifeless Tanaka Masao.

"Alright. Take a one-minute break. Then we continue."

Hearing that, Tanaka Masao felt like he'd been pardoned by the heavens and immediately collapsed onto the floor, sitting flat on his butt.
