Chapter 2 - Botched Summoning

Zorat burst through the barrier between planes in a matter of nanoseconds; the excitement in his flaming infernal soul as he embarked on this brand new adventure was palpable.

He calculated that in just another nanosecond, he would arrive on the mortal plane he had envisioned while he designed his summoning ritual. Closing his metaphorical eyes, or his soul consciousness if you may. Zorat braced himself for impact.

By his projections, he should land softly inside the body of a human male whose soul had made an early exit, but the body was still somewhat usable. That was all he needed. He would have preferred to directly occupy the body of someone living, but that would have been very complicated, as there would be two souls inside one body.

Nasty business.

He had the displeasure of going through such a situation one time as a low-level demon. And he promised never to put himself through such prolonged torture ever again. He liked having fun, but not that kind. That wasn't fun.

Zorat had been bracing for at least a second by now, but the expected impact had yet to come.

The momentum of his primordial soul first started doubling, then tripling, then quadrupling in acceleration as it broke through countless planes of existence every nanosecond. Star systems, galaxies, and even universes barely rendered with how impossibly fast he was moving.

As summoning should happen in an instant by all accounts from his wealth of experience. But this one was only taking so long because he could, at this point, already tell that he had made a miscalculation. And that something had gone a little bit off the rails.

He seemed to have misjudged how potent his primordial body was before using it as a fuel source, and he had already smashed past the plane of existence that held the world he aimed for with this summoning, and he was only just picking up speed.

Zorat wasn't flustered in the least. More like he couldn't even get flustered unless he consciously forced himself to experience such an emotion. The only emotion that came unbidden to beings such as the primordial demons; are emotions attached to their authority.

And for him who is the primordial Demon king of mischief. He is only affected by the power that such an authority compels: pure, unadulterated desire and greed. Which makes him a particularly selfish and brutal demon who has broken any and every rule there is and continues to do so.

One time, as a young demon, he slaughtered every living being in an entire star system on a whim. He is such an existence. Evil incarnate. He is called multiple names in hell, but the one that stuck and built his fable was: the demon of mischief.

Mischief because he extracts the desires of all he comes across, and using that knowledge, he manipulates, turns people into his pawns, and most times indirectly starts and ends wars.

When his fable became an authority, it gained an extra boost that made him way stronger than any of the regular primordial demon kings who had existed since time immemorial. And he soon turned them into his bitches; slapping them around because he could, and even occasionally sending them on errands.

It was all fun until 'that one' began intervening and making rules Zorat felt were stupid.

Putting those annoying thoughts aside; Now he was just going with the flow, curious about where this little mishap with his summoning ritual would land him. It even excited him.

He will surely be slowing down soon. He surmised. It's the laws of physics, according to Einstein. A human scientist from some planet called Earth, he had come across in passing in his younger days.

But Zorat was wrong yet again. He wasn't stopping, but going even faster. Just how powerful was his body? he wondered.

A lesser being would have panicked, but a primordial demon king was essentially immortal. He couldn't die from impact. Unless you can destroy the authority they are based upon, they can never truly die.

They can be trapped. They can be killed. But complete erasure is nearly impossible except for entities like 'that one'.

So he simply went with the ride; that was until he felt himself break completely free of his dimension.

Now. This is getting out of hand.

His momentum did not even seem to be relaxing as he passed through the barriers between dimensions. A place so perilous that only beings such as 'that one' could freely navigate.

He could actually die now. The creatures that lingered here could kill him if they made any real effort. The thought hit him hard, sending an imagined adrenaline boost through his fiery soul.

YOLO.

He yelled in his soul form. completely welcoming the thrill of such mortal danger, and a part of him even strongly desired to be noticed by these entities.

He could barely control such a rabid impulse, his desire burning through. He might not survive the encounter, but it would be an encounter to remember. One he would literally never forget. Because he would be dead.

After another quarter of a nanosecond passed, Zorat's soul was already beyond the borders between dimensions and inside a brand new dimension.

None of these dimensional beings took notice of him, and even if some did, they didn't give a flying fuck, much to Zorat's dismay.

Before he had time to sulk, he had already broken through yet another two dimensions, but just as he broke through the third, and going at such indescribable speeds, he bent time and space, he felt his soul collide thunderously with something, and he completely lost his soul consciousness.
