Chapter 2 - Not Earth but the Astral World

It was dinner time.

Mark joined his parents at the dinner table. Seeing his confused look, his parents looked at each other.

Johnson looked at Mark and said.

"Mark, let's go to that world!"

"Huh? Wait, shouldn't you be telling me to make a decision without much pressure?"

Mark was stunned as he blurted out the thought.

He was waiting for his parents to encourage him, not to decide for him.

Daisy chuckled and said.

"Because we can see it in your eyes. You want to leave, and we don't want to stop our son."

Mark was speechless, but they were right.

He did want to leave. He didn't want to give up his powers. He wanted to explore the new world.

This world was boring to him.

So boring that he didn't know what he should do. Sometimes self-control required a lot of effort.

Many times, he had thoughts, 'Why don't I use my power to do this? So what if others find out about my powers?'

That's why he truly wanted to go to another world, let go of all that self-control.

But that was an unknown world, full of dangers. He didn't want his parents to risk their lives for his decision.

Seeing his face, Johnson knew exactly what his son was thinking. After all, he was the father of a superpowered being.

He didn't have telepathy, but a father's intuition was sometimes more powerful than any telepathy.

"Mark, I am forty-five. Your mother is…."

Just when he was about to say that, he felt a powerful gaze from behind. He knew if he said something more, he would be punished in bed.

So, he gulped and continued.

"We have lived enough. Even if we did encounter something bad, we won't have any regrets."

"It's not like people in this world do not die in accidents. You know what happened to Peter's dad."

"So, instead of thinking badly, you should be thinking something positive. Why don't you tell us what you know about the other world?"

"Your mother said they left a tablet to access their information. Have you found anything?"

Hearing his father's question, Mark nodded and said.

"Much of the information is about the world and its power structures. Unlike our world, where there are many countries, that world has one major power."

"It's called the Federation of the Astral World. They have given Earth a different name. It's now called Astral Planet."

Hearing that, Daisy frowned and said.

"How can they arbitrarily change the name of our planet?"

Mark shook his head and said.

"It's not a random decision. They wanted to completely hide any and all traces of Earth."

"Now, Earth has two sides. Normal Earth and Astral World. From the universe, we can only perceive and see the Astral World."

"To do this, they have even increased the size of Earth by ten times."

When his parents heard that, they were dumbfounded.

"People can do that?"

Mark nodded with a serious expression.

"Yeah, not only that, but they can also terraform Mars and make it a habitable planet in just a few months."

"Even our exploration of the universe has been manipulated by them."

"To a certain extent, unless our planet has galactic-level power, Earth can't appear in the eyes of extraterrestrial races."

Hearing that, a look of realization appeared on Johnson's face as he said.

"So, they are trying to keep our earth save from alien invasion, but wouldn't that restrict our development?"

Mark shook his head and said.

"They often do change our signals and information our satellite receive but they don't restrict our technological advancement."

"At least, that's what they wrote in one of their introduction part. It would be foolish to trust them."

Johnson nodded, agreeing with his son's point of view.

They should accept this information, but not completely believe in it.

Mark continued.

"The Federation of Astral World has several branches, including Universal Federation of Super-powered Beings."

"This organization collects the newly awakened humans and brings them to the Astral World and trains them."

At this moment, he paused before looking at his parents.

"Before they let someone join the Federation, they also have a test. If the person performs exceptionally well in the test, they can receive a reward."

"The reward is based on their performance, and those with high performance can get high level Awakening Potion."

"Although I am not sure how useful that is, it is something that can turn normal people into super-powered beings."

Hearing that, Daisy clapped her hands excitedly, asking.

"Does that mean we can also awaken powers like you?"

Mark nodded.

"That should be it."

Johnson asked.

"What about the job? What kind of job do we get?"

"There are different kinds of job and they are almost identical to our world. The only difference being military."

"The military of that world receives some of the highest pay and also has more freedom than any other job."

"If you are a powerful person, you can choose or reject a certain mission. By the way, they are also involved in the most dangerous events."

Daisy couldn't help but worry.

"Would they force you to join the military?"

Mark hesitated, but he knew this was the truth he couldn't hide. So, he explained.

"Natural Awakeners have a very high status in the world. Just by choosing to go there, I will give a property, a house, and one million credits."

Daisy interrupted.

"So, you must join the military?"

Mark nodded.

"Unlike artificial awakeners, natural awakeners are extremely powerful. But, even if a natural awakener marries another natural awakener and has a child, it doesn't mean the child would be a natural awakener."

"Since they can't produce more natural awakener from reproduction, they need to squeeze out the most valuable aspect of a natural awakener."

Johnson chimed in.

"So, they want you to join the military, without giving you any chance to choose your future."

At this moment, both of them were unsure if they should choose to go there. If not for their son's desire, they would've immediately rejected the idea.

Mark realized their hesitation and spoke.

"But dad, as long as I can perform better in the military, I will receive a lot of rewards. And, it's not the same as the military of this world."

"They are called Astral Warriors. They fight for the Astral World and the expansion of their control."

"In short, either I defend the world or expand its influence. Based on my powers, I will be given a certain rank."

"And, while performance does matter, strength matters even more. So as long as I get stronger, nobody would be able to force me."

Hearing that, Daisy sighed.

"We understand, Mark. We know you want to go there. We don't have any objections."

She realized that her son wasn't worried about danger or being forced to do something he wouldn't want.

He simply just wanted to leave this world.

She could understand her son's mind. There were so many times that her son had asked why he couldn't use his power to do something.

At that time, she had an excuse, telling him that this world was normal and if he became abnormal, they would reject him.

But now, there was a whole world full of abnormal people. So, she had no excuse to stop him.

"Dad, are you sure?"

Mark took a deep breath and asked.

Johnson nodded.

"Alright, let's talk about that later! Food is getting cold!"

Daisy scolded them, and three of them started their meal.

There was one thing that Mark hadn't told them. The first one to establish the Federation, the one who was the head of the Federation, was still alive.

A thousand years! It had been over a thousand years since their establishment, but he was still alive.

What did that mean?

Either he was immortal, or all awakeners could become immortal.

He didn't know what it was, but he knew the answers lay in that world, and he was dying to find out.

After having his meal, he immediately went to his room and talked to Adam about his decision.

After informing him, he got a new message on his tablet.

'Awakener Mark Kent has been added to the Federation Database. You can now access Level 2 information.'

This stunned him.

He never thought he would get this kind of benefit just a few minutes after informing Adam.

Ten minutes later, his father came to his room and said.

"Mark, our house and property have been sold. Just now, my bank called me and said my account has been removed and transferred to another bank."

"I just checked my driver's license, citizenship number, passport, and everything has been cleared from the app."

"Instead, a new ID card appeared in my phone."

He said while showing the photo of his ID Card. It looked identical to Mark's student card.

Just as he showed that, a new message appeared on his phone.

Reading this message, Mark couldn't help but chuckle.

"Dad, your previous savings and the money from the house have been transferred to your new bank account, and it's a credit currency."
