Chapter 1 - Crappy Beginning

"Come forward."

A boy wearing black-white uniform walked between the aisle that was filled with other students. It wasn't just the students staring at him but the teachers in long coat and expressionless officials.

The boy kept walking before stopping before a blue crystal. It was surrounded by rocks that had strange symbols carved into them.

"Place your hand on the crystal and claim your Sigil." The elder man with a suit and white cloak said softly.

He trembled before slowly reaching out and then pausing. He bit his lips closing his hands and hesitating with a look of fear.

"Don't hesitate. If you can't trust yourself, then you won't make it in this world."

The boy trembled before then placing his hand on the crystal. The sigils on the rocks began to shine and soon a blue light illuminated the area. The rocks rose up before they began swirling around the area like a wheel of light. The boy tremble and gasped but he kept his hand on the crystal as the blue wheel glowed even brighter.

In the next few seconds, the entire room became illuminated in blue. Then as it faded, thousands of gazes peered down at the crystal. But to the shock of everyone, the crystal was still the same. It didn't shift to red, black, green or any other grades of color.

It simply remains blue, which means the crystal didn't acknowledge him. The boy himself was defective, a person with no Sigil.

A silence descended before-

"Are you kidding me?" A voice rang out, leading to the entire scene to freeze.

The scene then faded away and displaying a blue screen with the words: Fate System.

In front of the blue screen was a man with curly black hair, silver eyes, and wearing a black-white uniform. He was sitting on a bench, staring at the blue screen that only he could see in disbelief.

[Is something wrong host?]

"Alot of thing is wrong. But the first is why the lack of Sigil!? Isn't everyone born with it!?"

[Yes, but it was forcibly taken.]

"Of course it was... And me being reborn in him can't give a new one?"

[...No.]

The man sighed as he moved his hands up to hold his face. If it wasn't obvious enough, he had taken up the body of the boy in the projection. It only been an hour before he woke up and realized he had transmigrated. Which he didn't mind because he had died in his previous life.

All before I could enjoy my retirement life... Damn shitty organization.

He was reborn in the body of Reinhard Melvin, the heir to the Melvin Family. A The family had the rank of a Baron and ruled over their own city with a couple of towns. The family itself was one of the richest one in the Virelis Continent, and ties to the Empire.

But like all cliche, I was born in the body of a person with a shitty situation. Reinhard looked up at the blue screen.

"Can't you give me a Sigil?"

[Not for free.]

"And I told you before, that mission is stupid. Damn it, can't you give me a newbie package or something? You know my situation and what you're asking me to do!"

[I'm sorry Host.]

"Oh, you're sorry? Do you think that will be enough!?"

[I mean it isn't all bad! You are a noble!]

"My entire family wants me dead."

His stepmother had locked up the original Reinhard in their mansion after their father had died. During that entire time, he was harassed and constantly broken down until he was just a husk. While his two younger brothers were the ones who pushed for his death in the academy.

[You're a student at Astraelis!]

"All the commoners hate me."

He was constantly glared at by most commoners whenever he passed. It was revealed, most likely by his family that he had "bought" his way into the academy. It was obvious they found it unfair and the only reason he wasn't bullied to death. Is because they didn't know his situation and feared his noble status.

"All the nobles hate me for being useless."

Being the only noble without a Sigil was a stain on their reputation. To the other nobles, he was a person that the commoners can point fingers at and used as an example. That the nobles aren't special and even they can have defective who is useless.

"And all the teachers banned me from attending their classes."

Every teacher was graded by the abilities and progress of their student. He didn't have a Sigil, meaning his ability to grow stronger was basically futile. No teacher wanted to take him into their class. Beside the original soul failed the requirement when he tried out for the past week.

In short, he was a nuisance to the academy.

[When you graduate, you will be protected by the Empire!]

"If I somehow survived the next four years till graduation."

When his family find out he isn't dead, he could already picture them trying to find other ways to kill him. And they weren't even the most dangerous things to his life at the moment.

[Host... It might be pretty bad.]

"You think?!"

Reinhard shakes his head at the absurdity. He supposes he could simply try to make lots of money on campus and then escape the place. He held his chin, recalling his times as a spy that had him playing various roles.

It wouldn't be hard to scam these nobles and seduce some of these rich girls. Reinhard silver eyes shine a smile appeared. And there are some businesses I can do to get more gold.

[Host? Do you want me to continue the memory projection?]

Reinhard blinked and sighed. "Sure, let's see what else I'm missing. In the meantime, I will just focus on surviving by sucking up to one of the teachers-"

[Um Host... Did you forget? If you don't complete the Fate mission, everyone in this school will die.]

"I will just leave the school-"

[That won't work because the failure of this mission will affect the entire continent.]

"..." Reinhard held his face before looking up at the blue screen that displayed the Fate Mission.

[Connect with the Resonator of the Void]

That seemed normal enough, but when he reads under it. He saw the words saying he needed to not only kiss the woman but also sleep with her. The reason why? Because apparently the system requires the connection to their body becoming one.

"Are you sure this will stop her from exploding?"

[Absolutely! And it will also make you stronger.]

"It better or else I'm not surviving in this crappy world... How exactly will it make me stronger?"

"You will gain an upgraded version of her Sigil and further ways to improve yourself!"

Reinhard slowly nodded at the screen. "Fine, then show me my target. Let's see what I'm working with."

[Of course, host! I'm sure-]

"Less talking and more showing."

The blue screen began to change before returning back to the familiar awakening ceremony room. It displayed the reactions to his failure with some of the students unable to control themselves.

"No response at all? Isn't he a noble?"

"That utter disgrace, how could he-"

"Did they really that into Virellion."

Reinhard hummed at the insults and look of disgust on their face. He wasn't surprised at the other student's reaction, no matter the world or place.

A person failure is always another person joy.

"Speed it up."

The blue screen continued speeding up before his eyes widened as a figure appeared.

"It's her!? Why are we already on hell difficulty!?"
