Chapter 1 : The Unexpected Encounter
The rain in Bayelsa that night wasn't much. Esther stood in front of the restaurant next to the Red Estate; she was about to enter the restaurant, when she mistakenly broke her ankle. A man was standing next to her. and decided to give her a lift. He was handsome, and very dark. His eyes sparked like the morning star's. He was the owner of the restaurant company, Esther had no idea who he was. she was just starting at his sparkling eyes when he had lifted her up by carrying her in his arms.
"Why are you starting at my eyes, beautiful lady ?" John said.
Esther replied; no... Sir, I was starting at your....
Immediately John kept her down and dusted his expensive suit, she was just staring at him for a while and said.
"My name is Esther sir. She was very shy saying it.
"Hmmm Esther, I did not ask you for your name. John said. adjusting his tile on his neck.
"I know sir, but you look handsome. Esther said it without even thinking.
"Handsome? John asked.
"Yes" sir. Esther replied blushing. Immediately John laughed for a while. And asked.
"Do you really mean it?"
He said it nervously. She replied with a big smile.
"Yes sir..., and I think you are even blushing. John stood still and hold her hands. Feeling happy. She was just shy and started murmuring something that he could not hear.
"Oh my goodness, his holding my hands. Esther murmured, immediately John cuts in and dropped her hands when he heard some visitors wanted to see him.in the restaurant.and he gave her. his number written in a little card.
"I think am about to leave now. take you can have my number. John said giving her the card. then he left.
"What" a very handsome Man. She said. And entered the restaurant. The restaurant was so big and beautiful it was a high story building with a big giagantic star on the up. Immediately a man just a out of the restaurants.
" why" is a low class girl. at our restaurant?"
He asked the waiter's. But no one responded.
"Why" are you, pushing me out sir?"
Esther asked with a very angry voice.
"Oh" I see, she can even talk. The man replied. angrily.
"What" do you mean by that. sir. Esther asked.
"This restaurant is not for broke people like you. He said. Esther was very angry then replied to him.
"broke" people are the people who mad you who you are now. She said with a very loud voice that was shaking .
"How dare you, speak to me like that. He said.
Everyone was starting at him even the customer's sitting in and passing bye.
She replied; people like you don't know how to speak to strangers or customers, you don't even care about your customers reputation. You only care about your well-being.
Hearing that word made the man to slap her. With his right burnt hand.
"I will put you in your right place little fool. He said. Immediately a customer that was sitting down. Stood up and slaped him back. and said.
" How" dare you slap a innocent customer for entering the restaurant enh?"
Esther was just staring at what was happening. Immediately the customer pick up her phone and dailed the owner of the restaurant company number- which was John's number.
"Hello sir. I'm one of your customers on your restaurant. And have seen Many thing's happening in your restaurant, sir. As she was about to speak what had just happened. The man begged her kneeling down for her not to tell John - the owner anything.
"Please" ma, please don't report me to my boss. if not I will be fired ma.
The woman stopped and ended the call.
"Oh" now I see... you can even beg too.
Esther smiling at the woman and said something.
"Ma" please don't mind people like this, they think they can just speak to anybody any how. When they are nothing.
"You" are right my dear, I think I should call the owner of the restaurant back. because I need to put this man in his place. The man still kneeling down. Up and was begging the woman.
"Please" ma, call my boss. If you call my boss he might fire me, and I don't know where we have a job again. Didn't even listen she picked up her phone and what about to make a call. He was still asking for forgiveness.
"Please" ma, I promise to change please don't call him. I have two children's and one wife. Who is sick in the hospital. Please ma don't call him. He folded his hands. Immediately Esther understood him and begged the woman not to call the boss- John.
Esther said fearfully; "ma" please don't call the boss for my sake. With a very low voice.
"Why" do you say so. The woman asked.
Esther immediately replied; "ma" I don't want his family to be punished because of me. She said.
The woman was so happy with what Esther had said.then smiled.
"You" are very caring dear. And I think because of you I'm going to let it go. Man said.
Then he thanked the woman for not calling his boss- John.
"Thank" you very much ma. for not calling him back. Women stood and started at him for a while. and said.
"I'm not the one you used to be apologizing to. Frowning her face, staring at him.
"You" should be apologizing to the one you slapped. And not me . she said
Immediately is stood and faced Esther to apologize.
"Am" sorry. Please forgive me. Bowing down his head. Towards Esther.
Esther replied; it's okay sir. I have forgiven you. Then he left.
The woman was very surprised. that Esther had forgiving him like that. And said.
"Wow" I have never seen anyone that's very caring like you. Then Esther left.
