The civil strife within House Silver had finally come to an end, and the outcome had surprised almost everyone. The greatest winner was Evan Silver, the very man whom the other elders had once dismissed as a powerless House Lord who could do little more than watch others rule in his name.
No one dared challenge the election results. The Primeval Swordmaster had personally presided over the assembly, and opposing its outcome would be equivalent to questioning his authority. Even those who had lost their positions could only accept the result, however unwillingly.
The former greater elders who had supported the Second and Third Elders also came to understand the extent of their miscalculation. Evan Silver's connections with the centrist elders, combined with his ability to win over members of Kaiser's former faction, had given him far more influence than they had expected.
