Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Poachers

Adrian and the wolf pack dragged back the two bisons to the cave. It strangely felt light to him, too light.

He extended a single claw and used to remove parts of the skin. The meat of the bison smelled too delicious.

Driven by hunger he failed to hold back and sunk his teeth deep into it. A growl of pleasure escaped his lips.

It was as if he couldn't control himself and continued eating the raw meat, his mind told him he should be disgusted but he was not.

On the contrary he was quite enjoying it, his face was stained by blood but he did not care.

He ate half of the bison by himself before he felt full. When he was done he howled, he saw the wolves still eating.

He left the cave, he couldn't stay here, he still needed to check what's happening back home.

He left the cave and ran back home, his house was not too far away, he caught multiple unfamiliar scents just before he got there.

He climbed a tree and watched as the police surrounded his house, he could smell the scent of blood and knew it was his mother's.

The anger inside him flared up and he found himself growling with his claws and fangs out.

He took a deep breath, ' This will be troublesome.' it seemed his emotions were more unstable now.

He felt like ripping things apart when he was angry, for somebody with his strength those were not good thought to have.

Especially since he knew he was also prone to losing control. His eyes scanned the people around his house.

Then he caught a strong scent, two to be precise inside his house, they smelled human but also different.

He wondered if the demons were back, he decided to wait in the tree and see. His body was half naked, he was only wearing tattered pants.

Yet he did not feel cold even though he was in the snow early in the morning no less. Time passed and the police did not leave.

Media arrived with cameras, seeing them treating his mother's remains like some form of art for their benefits pissed his off.

The branch he was holding on cracked, he had strengthened his grip without even realising it.

Night came and the people were still there, the two he smelled inside were yet to leave as well.

The moon had risen above, it presence gave him comfort, then he heard gunshots from the direction of the wolf cave.

He did not have a strong connection with those wolves but they protected him when he was unconscious.

They trusted him enough to submit themselves to him even though he was a stranger to their pack.

Perhaps it was because of his new powers but he still couldn't just let them get slaughtered.

He jumped off the tree and started running. In the house, two people in black were sitting in his room.

" Did you feel that?" One of them asked, a woman with a delinquent look. The man in a black coat next to her nodded.

" Something was nearby." The two of them had felt Adrian the moment he appeared but chose not to engage.

They didn't know what he was but they knew he was strong, stronger than both of them. " Do you think it's the same thing that did this?"

The woman asked but the man shook his head, he looked at the compass like object in his hand.

" No, this is the work of a demon, that thing did was definitely not a demon, or anything we know off."

His compass was an artefact that told him the power level of supernatural creatures as well as their species.

He could tell the power level of the creature that was nearby but it species did not exist in the data base of the order.

He stood up and left the house, they got in their car and drove to the city. " We should probably call this one in."

The woman suggested while playing with a knife.

----------------------------------------------------------

It didn't take Adrian long to reach the cave, from afar he could see flashlight shining through the dark forest.

He could smell the humans, the gunpowder and the wolves. He caught the scent of wolf blood and that angered him.

He growled, his claws and fangs came out, he felt himself grow even stronger. He thought about going full form but chose not too.

He instinctively knew that form was way more powerful but his rationale is severely impended while in that form.

This partial transformation was the best one, stronger than normal while retaining his rationality.

He could hear the wolves heavy breathing and the humans standing over their slowly dying bodies.

He pounced, his body turned into a blur, he couldn't tell how fast he was running but it was fast.

He ran around the trees like a shadow, using the cover of night the human did not even see him.

----------------------------------------------------------

It was Sam's first night hunting, Sam was an orphan who had just turned 18 and was kicked out of the orphanage.

He didn't have a job or place to stay, fortunately the poachers found him, they needed wolf eyes and claws.

And there were wolves in these mountains, he joined them in this hunt, while wolves were dangerous.

They couldn't deal with guns and such a large number of hunters. " Ahh." He heard a scream behind him.

He turned and saw nothing, he paused, he was certain somebody was behind him. Another scream was heard.

Everybody turned their torches there and saw nothing again. They grew nervous and so did he.

He started shaking, unlike the others he did not even have a gun. When they heard a third scream they knew something was wrong.

Everybody panicked and started running, " No no don't run, come together, it'll be safer that way."

He screamed but the poachers did not listen, Sam ran as well and found a rifle on the snow.

He picked it up and continued running until he tripped and fell. His glasses fell off, he put them back on.

Then he saw blood, the snow was red with blood, he raised his head and what he saw made his mind freeze.

" AHHHHHH." He screamed and scrambled to get back up. Infront of him were the poachers.

All of them hanging from the trees with their bodies stabbed into the branches. The blood on the snow was dripping from their corpses.

He started shaking then turned around to run only to bump into a solid wall. When he looked closely it was not a wall but a man half naked and covered in blood.

The man grinned showing sharp fangs like those of a beast. Sam immediately pulled the trigger shooting the person Infront of him.

The man grinned instead and before Sam could react the person but him on the neck. The last thing he hears was.

" See you on the next full moon." Then he lost consciousness.
