Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – The abandoned building

The path to the old building was more difficult than they expected. The path was almost lost and in many places they had to push branches and bushes to get through.

At one point, it even started to drizzle.

"Great… and rain now," Kostas muttered.

"Stop whining," Rania told him. "You're really enjoying it."

He smiled without answering.

After walking for a long time, the building finally appeared among the trees. It was large, old, with broken windows and peeling walls full of graffiti.

It looked as if it had been forgotten by time.

"It looks like a ghost hotel," Christina said.

"It's not a hotel," Elpida replied. "It was a clinic from World War II."

The others were speechless.

"How do you know all this?" Kostas asked.

"My dad told me about it when we came here for a hike."

The place made everyone feel a little uneasy. There was something dark and mysterious in the atmosphere.

"The map says the cave is behind the building," Elpida said.

They advanced cautiously. Behind the old building was a rocky slope, but there was no sign of a cave entrance anywhere.

"Maybe we made a mistake after all?" Rania said in disappointment.

But Elpida didn't give up.

"No… it must be here somewhere."

Then Kostas approached a wall of thick moss.

"It's a little windy here," he said. "As if there was a void behind."

They started pulling at the moss and branches. It was tiring, their hands ached, but no one stopped.

And suddenly…

A dark hole appeared in front of them.

The entrance to the cave!

"We found it!" Elpida shouted.

For a moment no one spoke. They all looked at the opening with a mixture of excitement and fear.

"So… are we going in?" Kostas asked.

Elpida took a deep breath.

"We're going in."
