Chapter 2 - NEW HOST

The members of the black gang all looked up, pale expressions on their faces, as they realized the presence of the new arrivals. Thod adjusted his stance to a more relaxed one. Signaling to his men to get ready, he uttered through gritted teeth, "We won't let you have Shem". 'What do you mean by we?' The young man thought. The new arrivals stood atop the buildings surrounding the gang, their moon-crowned silhouettes gleaming with murderous eyes. One of them then said with ominous intensity; "Wether you like it or not, the vessel is coming with us". A moment passed in cold silence, then two, then more. Finally, Thod spun towards his group, eyes dark with bitter realization. "Run".

They wasted no time and dashed in separate directions, making it hard to be targeted. "You're not going?" their leader commented mockingly. Thod simply smirked, then in one motion, crouched and launched himself off the ground leaving behind a cloud of dust and debris. Later on, Shem found herself cornered again by the same band of silent hunters, as she stood like a flame ringed by the night. Full of grim anticipation, she could hear her heartbeat louder than their approaching steps. The next second, the heads of her companions were presented before her.

The second she saw them, her eyes widened, pupils dilated, and she began to curse bitterly. "You monsters, how could you!". "How could you be so evil!". "You are all evil, you and your entire Jenai clan". How could you wipe out an entire clan, for selfish reasons?". As she cried out, streams of tears rolled down her delicate face. One of them lowered his head slightly and folded his hands into fists. "Selfish you say?". "Your clan went against the sacred oath. They were never meant to have the Destructive Aspect Type. And instead of handing it over after being discovered, what did they do?". He then laughed out maniacally. "They ran".

"Now, I don't have the time nor the patience, so you are either coming with us or.....". Full of rage and pain she replied, "I'll take my chances". Then, taking in a deep breathe, she said; "Destructive type". Her eyes were then lit up with a radiant red glow.

"You're an amateur, you couldn't possible draw out it's true power". At that moment, a feeling of dread radiated through the atmosphere, making the group tremble slightly. She then muttered silently and in the next moment, reality seemed to be distorted as a blood red dome spread out, enveloping herself and the group. And then, they were all gone, like they had been erased from existence.

"Doctor, doctor.... Please help us".

"Doctor, my wife needs urgent help".

"Sir, the patient is in labour...".

"Quick, get her to the labour room....".

"Madam, everything will be fine..... Just take in deep breathes".

"Will my baby be alright?"

"Yes ma'am, absolutely... Get me my stethoscope".

"Sir, her pulse is getting weaker by the second..... She might not make it".

The doctor had a frustrated look on his face, but then sighed heavily. "In all my years of being a doctor, never have I lost a patient... She won't be the first".

In the busy hall way of the Specialized Clinical Hospital, a lone man sat on a bench. He had an agitated look contoured on his face, his wife was currently in the labour room...

"No need to worry, Navil..... She'll be alright".

"We are yet to know who won the gender bet after".

"She and the baby are perfectly fine".

The more he affirmed, the more his expression darkened, betraying his motivational claims.

"Sir.... Her pulse is dropping again".

"The cardiac monitor is showing a significant drop in heart rate sir.... At this rate, she might... not... ma--".

The heart monitor flatlined, it's steady rhythm dissolving into a single, unbroken tone. A heavy silence fell over the delivery room, and even the doctor's face darkened with despair, as his gaze was slowly lowered.

A long moment passed in utter silence..... And then it happened.
